In used car sales, a vehicle's value is significantly influenced by its maintenance history, ownership history, and condition rather than just mileage; a 2008 Acura RDX with 267,792 km sold for $9,000 because it was a one-owner car that was recently certified and serviced at the dealership, demonstrating that well-maintained vehicles with documented service records can command higher prices despite high mileage.

You Won't Believe The Mileage On Her Car She Wants To Sell Us!
Added:From what I understand from Jacob, you heard about us through his >> My twin brother.
>> Your twin brother.
>> Yes.
>> Okay, that's fantastic.
>> Whitby.
>> In Whitby.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Now you're here to sell your car.
>> Yes.
>> I understand that you're the original owner.
>> Yes.
>> Which is very impressive. This is a 2008, so you had the car just under 20 years. How has it been?
>> It's been really good. We're going to miss it.
>> You're going to miss it. Anything >> I hope someone who buys it loves it.
>> I really hope so, too, and I'm sure they will. So, the car has 200, I believe, in 60,000 km.
>> Yes.
>> And you guys certified it recently?
>> Yes.
>> Perfect. It's good to know, cuz you know, with cars with such high K, a lot of people get afraid, but the fact that you already got the car certified is a big bonus. How has the truck been? It's been good, no issues.
>> It's been a really good car.
>> And where did you guys get it serviced?
>> at Acura. We've had different dealerships.
>> Okay.
>> We bought it in Brampton.
>> In Brampton.
>> And I had it serviced there a long time.
>> Amazing. Who was the main driver, you or the husband?
>> Your husband. And I understand that you guys were married for 54 years.
>> Yes.
>> Wow, that's amazing. I've been with my wife for 22 years. And you know what?
>> Happy wife, >> happy life.
>> That's it. I don't know if she's happy, but I think she's happy.
I give you guys lots of credit. That's that's amazing. It's it's a whole task on itself to keep a marriage for that long. So, proud of you for that.
>> Thank you.
>> Good job. [laughter] >> It was a blind date.
>> It was a blind date? Wow, sometimes that's the best way to do it, right?
Okay, so let's get back to the car. Can I have the keys? Any lights on the dash?
No check engine light or anything like that, right?
>> No, no, no.
>> Guys, even look at the interior. It's in fantastic condition. There's no rips. I can tell that you guys took a very good care of it. 267,792, so just under 270K.
Everything looks good. AC is working.
So, it's got the camera, the backup camera.
But I would assume there's no navigation, right? Or is there?
>> navigation.
>> Oh, it still has navigation. Wow, look at that, eh? It's probably one of the first versions with nav. Do you use the navigation at all?
Because it's a little bit old school style. You know, today everybody uses their phones, right?
>> I know. I have it on my car and never use it.
>> Yeah, same here. And let's take a look at the body of the car. So, the tires look nice and beefy. Did you replace them recently?
>> Uh yes, and we have 4-year-old snow tires.
>> snow tires as well.
Perfect. No chips in the windshield. A little bit of minor bodywork over here.
A few scratches, but I mean for 267K, I don't think the condition gets any better than this. I like the color, too. The royal blue. It's nice.
Matches my shirt.
I would assume there's no money owing on it. You guys bought it brand new. And right now we just want to sell it, right? We're not using it as a trade. Do you have another car to replace it with?
>> I I drove. Yeah, we're just going down to two car one car.
>> One car. Okay, perfect. So, now the magic question. What are you looking to get for this car?
>> Uh around 11.
>> Around 11. Even though the car is in a past condition, see the headlights a little bit worn the kilometers. I was thinking like maybe 7,500 bucks.
>> No.
>> No?
>> No.
>> No.
>> Higher.
>> Higher? Higher than 7,500?
>> Mhm.
>> 7,600?
>> Higher.
>> Higher? [laughter] Higher? Higher? Why is it never lower?
It's always higher. We're waiting for the one customer that's going to come and say, "Lower. You gave me too much."
But I guess that day is never going to happen. So, what do you think?
What's the best you think you can do?
>> Um >> I want to buy this. I want to make you guys happy.
>> So, how about 10 5?
>> 10 5?
10 5. I was at 7,500. How about 8?
What do you think?
Do you have to speak to the husband first? Or can you make the decision on your own?
>> Um I can make the decision.
>> Boss lady. I love it. [laughter] >> 54 years.
>> 54 years. I make all the decisions.
>> [laughter] >> Uh what are you thinking?
>> Um higher.
>> Higher?
Higher?
>> Higher.
Higher.
>> What's the lowest you're willing to go?
We'll finish it right now.
>> Uh nine.
>> Nine? You have the second key as well?
Or is it just the one key?
>> We have it, but we're getting we're it's >> They're all one.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay, so if we do the deal, you can just uh carry it to us?
>> Yeah.
>> Mhm, 9,000.
Is that okay if I make a call to one of my wholesalers?
>> Sure.
>> Yeah?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
Now, it's very clean and the car was just certified. I think that's a huge bonus. One owner.
I mean, that's probably as good as it gets.
Okay, thank you.
Listen, my buyer didn't want to step that high, but I did tell him it's a one-owner car. The car was just recently serviced at Acura. You do have the second key. I told him that you guys are super nice couple and you took very good care of the car. So, you got a deal at nine. So, let's lock it in.
Uh you guys yourself a deal.
>> Thank you so much.
>> We'll draw up all the paperwork. We'll pay you guys on the spot. I believe your husband is here, so he's going to give you a ride home. The last thing that we do is called the key toss. So, I'm going to pass it to you and you're going to throw it to me. Just make sure that I catch it.
Woah! That woah, that was a fast one.
You play baseball? [laughter] >> I did.
>> That was like a curveball.
>> It was.
>> Thank you so much. Thank you. You guys are uh wonderful people.
>> So, basically, Jacob is outside with the couple. He's finalizing the paperwork. I want to let you guys know that usually this is not the kind of cars that we will be buying. However, you don't see too many cars that are almost 20 years old that have 267,000 km, one-owner car, fully serviced at the dealer, and not just that, they were so nice. They got the car certified for us before they brought it in. So, this is one-of-a-kind. We work on small profits, which is perfectly good with us. We met another wonderful couple. It's also nice to see somebody that's been married for 54 years. That gives us a goal for ourselves. Meeting nice people is what makes our business so rewarding. They drove 2 hours away just to meet us. We got the deal done. They're happy, we're happy, and it's only a good deal when both parties are happy. So, guys, we got another one done.
>> I'm going to go give them a check. I'll see you guys later, okay?
>> Okay.
>> And then I'm getting another GLE outside as well. It's number eight.
>> So, Jacob's outside with them right now sitting on the picnic bench.
>> Thanks, Tom.
>> All right, thanks. You got >> Paying them. We're good. We're done. And they're back on their way.
>> [snorts] >> You know, as a luxury car dealer, after watching this video, I kind of need to explain to you why I even bought this car. You guys are probably wondering, what the hell is he doing with a '08 Acura with 260K? I mean, let's take a look at our showroom. You guys know what our inventory is pretty much like.
Rolls-Royce, McLaren, AMG, Escalade, a guy loading the trunk, Range Rover, Audi R8. I need to explain to you guys something. These are the cars that we have for retail. Other than that, we also have a wholesale department. If we can flip a car quick and make a small profit, we're good with that. That Acura is not going to make it to our showroom, but we did sell it to another dealer who will be selling that car. So, we're not prejudiced. You name it, we got it. We'll buy a car if it's $5,000 or $500,000. Lesson 101, TA B.
Stay humble and never say no to a deal.
Even if it's only a few hundred bucks, it's still money in the bank. On another note, this vehicle we got right here, 2012 R8 V10, we actually had the car prepped. We are doing an exotic car show this Sunday. We had decals all around the car. And then, the day we got the decals done, customer walked in, said, "I don't care what you're doing with this. I want this car right now, right away. We removed all the decals and today he's picking up the car.
>> I'm the customer.
>> Ah!
>> Oh, no way.
>> Right in time. Guys, this was not planned. Tell them.
>> It wasn't planned.
>> Right? It wasn't planned. He just walked in. So, I was just telling them how we have quite a bit of R8s, but the second we get a V10, they go. The V8s, they sit. We have three V8s in here that are absolutely stunning. One of them has been here for a year. Another one has been here for maybe 8 9 months.
But these V10s, same as the one behind, right away they go. So, question, since you're here, >> Yeah.
>> did you care for this car to be a V10, or did you just happen to like >> it wasn't a V10, I wouldn't get it.
>> So, you see guys, this is what I'm talking about. Smart man.
>> It's a supercar.
>> It's a supercar. It is. It's a Lambo engine. Amazing. You excited?
>> I'm excited. Good.
Cash right here.
>> Right in here. Right in here.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, I'll pick up the car.
>> Amazing, buddy. That's awesome.
>> All right.
>> What a coincidence. That's it.
>> mad coincidence.
>> That's amazing. I love it.
