To find the magnitude of a 3D vector with components (x, y, z), use the 3D Pythagorean theorem: magnitude = √(x² + y² + z²). For example, a vector with components 6m in the +x direction, 2m in the +y direction, and 3m in the +z direction has a magnitude of √(6² + 2² + 3²) = √(36 + 4 + 9) = √49 = 7 meters.
