Successful business partnerships require clear communication, shared accountability, and mutual respect between partners; when one partner becomes disengaged and the other fails to take leadership responsibility, the business suffers from poor management, staff dissatisfaction, and operational failures.

Tabatha DESTROYS Owner After He Calls Her Out | Tabatha Takes Over | Season 2 Episode 9Added:
[music] Hello, >> Robert. It's Tabitha.
>> Could you please get Jodie and come and meet me outside?
>> Okay. Hi.
>> Oh my god.
>> Oh no.
>> Hi. How are you? Tabitha.
>> Great. How are you?
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Hi Tabitha. Hi Jody. How are you? Nice to meet you.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Well, you guys asked for my help, so uh here I am. I have a surprise for you. So come with me. Oh, >> really?
>> Come with me.
>> [music] >> So, I really want to know what I'm doing here. Why do you need my help?
>> I believe that the problem is that Jod, my partner, has left the salon to have two children and being a partnership of 50/50, I need some help with bringing her back to the salon.
>> So, you don't feel like you and Jody are a team?
>> No.
>> It hurts my feelings sometimes to think that he thinks I don't care about the salon, cuz I do. It's just when I opened this business with Robert, I didn't have two kids. I didn't have a husband and didn't know that this was going to be my life 5 years later. And now I'm trying to make everyone happy. And that's all I can tell you is I'm trying my hardest to be there when I can. If he wants me out of it, I don't know.
>> Well, you know what? You guys obviously do need my help because the first thing you don't do is communicate with each other and that is a huge problem.
>> Yeah, I agree. So, how do you guys divide up your responsibilities?
[clears throat] Are [music] you in the salon more?
>> I'm in the salon almost every single day. If she can't be there, somebody's got to be there.
>> But we have other issues, too. [music] You know, staff issues, >> financial issues, >> financial, you know, >> how much money do you owe?
>> We owe $50,000. Okay. And right now in this economy, it's a lot [music] of money to us. The boat's gone, the car's gone, the condo gone. I don't want to go down. I want to go up. I want to keep moving up.
>> I mean, what about you, Jody? What have you given up for this business? [music] >> I can no longer afford health insurance for my family.
>> That's huge.
>> Which is a big one. I'm screwed.
>> How much are you taking home a month?
>> None anymore. Not collecting draws anymore.
>> How much longer can you two keep this partnership going and keep this salon going? If things [music] don't change for you, >> I'm in trouble already.
>> To be in a position where I'm at right now, it's like I I can't handle it.
>> You better handle it really quickly because that's the position that you're in. I want you to see what I saw >> really >> in your salon.
>> Okay.
>> So, Jody, I mean, I saw you walk in today and not say hello to one of your staff, nor they say hello to you.
>> Right. Very awkward.
>> It's your business. It shouldn't be awkward. Do people behave like you're the boss? Do they treat you like you're the boss?
>> Not always. No.
>> That's pretty bad.
>> Yeah. They don't respect me, I guess.
>> Jody. Jody, come here. Come here. Come here. Come here.
>> Yes.
>> What?
>> We're in trouble.
>> What?
>> You did that several times today where you actually spoke to Jodie like she was an assistant.
>> Well, then she needs to act like my partner >> and you need to treat her as such.
>> Yeah. Yeah. THERE'S SOME BUGS OVER HERE.
Right there.
>> Oh, >> and right there.
>> We'll just move you right over. Margie, look at what she found. Ew. Is that a cockroach?
>> What is that? No, it's not funny. Don't.
>> We have roach [music] problems.
>> We are surrounded by restaurants and the big garbage is in the back of [music] our building.
>> So, it's okay that a client found >> absolutely rugs. No, >> but I mean Margie walked around the salon showing them to everyone. Clients alike.
Cory. Cory missed a spot on this girl.
>> Mhm.
>> She shouldn't do blonde. You need to watch her.
>> Cory did a client and apparently she missed a spot.
>> Mhm.
>> We just promoted her to the floor.
>> Mhm.
>> And you haven't looked at her work.
>> No, I sit on the opposite side of the salon.
>> Well, you know, that's no excuse either because it's all your salon. I mean, honestly, someone has to be in charge.
It's a business. And so far it's not looking too good. Would you have a manager in the salon?
>> Margie.
>> Margie is the manager of the salon.
>> She's my sister. She's manager of the front desk. She runs the all the booking.
>> So Margie is your front desk manager.
>> And she happens to be your sister.
>> Yes.
>> How's it going today?
>> Good. Sorry. I'm eating my lunch. Oh, he's eating.
>> Oh god.
>> That's attractive. That looks nice.
>> No.
>> At the front desk with clients coming and [music] going as she was eating.
She didn't even stop.
>> Thank god.
>> I mean, she didn't come up for air.
>> Want a bite?
>> No.
>> Jodie.
>> What do you mean, Jodie?
>> Well, she sits on that side. She should know what's going on.
>> Sometimes I wonder if she wasn't Robert's sister if she wouldn't be gone a long time ago.
>> She probably would be.
>> But she gets away with everything cuz she doesn't respect us. She keeps doing it. Honestly, both of you just keep passing the buck between each other and there should be consequences. I have seen enough.
>> So, [snorts] give me your keys. I'm taking over.
>> Good luck. Go kick their ass.
>> I'm going to kick your ass.
>> Hello everyone.
>> She's really here. My stomach just fell.
I should have been wearing a diaper.
This is real.
>> Gather around everyone. Gather around.
I'm Tabitha and I'm taking over.
I have cancelled all your appointments for the week and in that week everything is going to change. You're going to play by my rules and at the end of the week some of you may still be working here and some of you may not.
I've been watching all of you all day and I was pretty shocked.
Margie, I understand that you're the front desk manager.
>> Yes.
>> Are you chewing gum?
>> Yes.
>> Out now. Who else has got gum?
>> Did you just put that on the counter?
>> Yes.
>> That's disgusting. Throw it in the trash.
>> Wow. That's an example for a front desk manager.
There were a lot of problems that I saw today. You were unprofessional, shouting across the salon, you know, eating on the floor, reading magazines, and it has to change.
Robert and Jod, I want you to take me on a tour of the salon.
>> Wow.
[music] >> Don't clean much, huh?
>> We clean all the time.
>> Really?
>> Yes, we do. This used to be Citrus Groves, and everybody's homes are dusty.
Children are welcome by appointment only.
>> We don't promote children coming here.
>> This salon isn't reaching out to the familyfriendly area around them. If Robert and the staff could recruit moms and their kids, they could build a whole new clientele in this place. That comb's filthy. Whose comb is that?
>> Mine.
>> That's yours.
>> I have two assistants that you >> So, it's their fault.
>> Well, usually at the end of the day, they take care of all putting all my tools away.
>> You're throwing your assistants under the bus.
and saying it's their fault. Do you clean >> Do you clean the station?
>> I clean a lot around here.
>> That is not clean.
>> So, if that's acceptable to you, shame on you.
What's back here?
Wow.
Wow. [music] Leaving these towels wet, not only will you get mold and mildew, you will get water bugs. Hello.
Really? Nice. Who's is this?
>> That's his slice that he forgot.
>> But I did not leave it on top. That client came >> You know what? Again, excuse.
>> What are they?
>> The roaches.
>> They get right here.
>> They actually get in the phone. They I think they breed in there cuz one time I answer the phone they were in there.
>> After seeing how badly Rob and Jody communicate about their business, I wanted to sit down with the staff and get their point of view.
Margie appears to be late, so we're going to get started without her. So, tell me about the relationship between Jodie and Robert. How do they run a business together? How do they work together?
>> There's no communication whatsoever.
It's like to tell you the truth, I don't ever really see them like working together. When Jod comes in here, she's doing her own thing.
>> We never see him discussing any type of business. So anyway, it's all behind closed doors.
>> From the outside looking in, what do I see? I see Robert saying, "Jod, this is what we're going to do. This, this, and this, and that."
>> And so Robert kind of bosses Jod around.
>> Yeah. Yesterday, Robert gave me nothing but excuses. It was everyone's fault except Robert's. Is that normal behavior?
>> Yes.
>> So, what kind of boss is Robert?
>> Have you ever seen literally a chicken with his head cut off?
>> He's he's [music] doing eight jobs at once.
>> So, obviously not everything gets addressed.
>> Does Jod address those issues? Jod's here maybe once, sometimes twice a week to do clients, if that. [music] And usually she comes in, she signs a check, and she's out. Do you think of Jod as your boss?
>> As [music] time went by, she became a full-time mother. Is she a great boss?
She's not here enough to be [music] a boss.
>> You don't think she has any passion left for her business >> behind the chair? Yes. But as far as being a business owner, >> Jody has clearly lost passion for this business. And that's one of the reasons this salon is failing. [music] Tell me how Margie got to be front desk manager.
>> Robert, sister, >> blood is thicker than water. I mean, do you guys think that the salon would run more efficiently without Margie being at the desk?
>> You know, Margie's a great friend. I've got friends. [music] I need somebody professional.
>> You sound like you own the place.
>> I have to run my own business. I have to pay my bills and take care of I got to take care of my stuff. If I if it doesn't, then who's going to take care of it?
>> You know, here's the thing. I believe that the most important thing is the work, >> the service >> that you do because if you're not doing good work, people won't come back. So today, I'm going to bring in some models and I want to assess your work. So get your stations ready. They'll be here very soon.
Margie, so you were late this morning. I didn't have time to get organized.
>> Okay.
>> Excuses obviously run in your family.
So, if you can get the front desk ready.
I have clients coming in for the stylist.
>> Sure.
>> Okay.
>> Okay.
[music] >> Good morning. Can I help you?
>> Morning. I'm here to see my >> Okay. She'll be right with you.
>> Hi. How are you?
>> Hey, I'm good.
Um Margie, [music] can you take this client to Marlene, please?
>> Useless. Absolutely useless.
I see you brought this lovely picture.
Going for a whole new change.
>> Going for a darker color.
>> That's very exciting. That sounds great.
>> Okay.
>> Do you know who Jod is in the salon?
>> I don't. Jody's actually one of the owners.
>> My salon, everyone knows I own it.
>> You introduce yourself as the owner.
>> I don't need to. It's because I command that and I take control of it.
>> I want you to feel like you're the owner again because it will change how not only you feel about your business, but also your staff's perception of you. You should walk in and they should know you're the owner. And I know you can do it. I know you can.
>> Okay. It is hard for me to be a business owner and juggle two small kids. I think I am passive because my priorities have changed in my [music] life. I'd rather be home with my kids.
>> Pizza. I wanted this.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> I need pizza.
>> Have you ever had a shorter style?
>> Um I've had my hair cut short, but um never in a bob before.
>> Okay. Okay. So, as long as you're comfortable with that.
>> All righty.
>> Okay. Let's get started.
[laughter] >> Oh, Robert, you do disappoint me.
>> It was nerve-wracking cuz I'm not used to somebody like Tabitha standing over me.
>> You haven't asked the client how often she comes in to maintain a color.
>> I normally do.
>> What are you going to do? Are you highlighting it or are you doing a single process? I mean, you haven't. You told me that you were done with >> I've been doing it for 20 years, so I'm pretty comfortable.
>> I'm so done with your excuses. So, ignore the fact that I'm here and do a good bloody consultation.
>> You're in good hands. I promise you.
Okay. I'll be right back.
>> What kind of texture do you have to your hair naturally when you >> It gets um slightly wavy.
>> Okay. I think that that's going to be a really good [music] look for you cuz your forehead fits the bangs and your cheekbones and everything as well. So, >> Okay. I know you're a young stylist.
Yes, I am.
>> But the only way you can start to see how the hair is going to react is when you actually get in there and start working with it and looking at it.
>> Okay. You didn't do that at all.
It's >> looking good. Nice job.
>> It's going to take me a few minutes cuz I'm used to having assistants hold my foils.
>> How's it going?
>> I think pretty good. It's a little challenging for me cuz I'm used to having somebody hold these for me.
>> You know what? it. It's clearly been a while since you've had to hold your own foil because um >> it is.
>> You should check out the assistance foils on your way past to mix up more.
They're pretty good.
>> Okay, great.
>> I'll be right back. Okay.
>> She's a >> She is a But she hasn't dealt with me yet.
>> You sorry?
>> I said she can be a You can.
>> All you have to do is open your mind and listen to me. I'm seeing nothing that you want to change that you think you need to change. You seem to think it's everyone else and now you seem to think it's me.
>> Okay, let's relax minute.
>> Don't tell me to relax one more time. I am not the problem. All right, I can help you and I will be the solution. So either you know you have to decide that you want to embrace it or don't embrace it.
>> Okay, I understand what [music] it takes to do hair. I do. Tell that you know what >> and I appreciate your help. I want you to be here.
>> You want me to be Don't appreciate my help. You want me to be here and every time I try to have a conversation with you, [music] you seem to have a hard time with me.
>> I did call her a but I will take Tabitha's advice. The truth hurts sometimes, but you know, when it all comes down to it, I need her help. She's here for a reason.
[music] >> What is this about?
>> The same people wash the towels every day. me, Jerry. There's a few.
>> But why isn't Why isn't Margie throwing a load in if she's not doing anything?
>> I [music] don't know.
>> Does Margie ever throw in towels?
>> Actually, I don't think she does. Margie is Robert's sister, [music] so therefore there's a lot of leeway in in that position for her.
>> Everyone is working away, and I just went out into the back room, >> and there is kind of a mountain of towels out there that are all dirty. So, you know, look, Margie should follow through and make sure that they're taken care of and they're washed.
>> Okay, I'll talk to her.
>> So, you're gonna go You're gonna go and talk to Margie?
>> Yes.
>> Margie, we need you to deal with the towel situation. There's mountains and mountains of dirty towels in the back >> and we have none. Cuz you're our manager.
>> Okay. We have a towel service and we have assistance.
>> Okay. I don't care who does them, but I want you in charge of it.
>> I'm not doing those towels. No, I'm not going to do them. [music] That's not my job.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, look at that.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. That's where you've not connected it through. So, you've cut this kind of shelf here.
>> Mhm.
>> And then that hasn't been blended through. Cory's clearly eager to learn, but she has a lot more training that she needs to be behind [music] the chair.
You need to work on blending through your haircuts and cross-checking them.
>> Okay. Her color looks great. She looks great with dark hair. I think the color looks really nice. Jody did really nice work today, but Jod isn't stepping up and taking control in this business.
Texturize so much that there's a hole.
Okay, it's right here. You can see it.
>> I was like embarrassed because I'm one of the owners. But after seeing her work with my staff, [music] I remember that I am here to take direction from her.
That's why I asked her here.
>> I was disappointed in some of the stylist work. It's about taking pride in your work. You need to find that passion and put it in your work and in your business. [music] Tomorrow, we're going to start to turn this place around.
I have to get to the bottom of the relationship between Robert and Jod because it is not functioning and they have to resolve their underlying issues if they have any hope of saving their business. I started my morning with a staff meeting and you know one of the things that the staff talked about is the fact that Robert you're running around like a chicken without a head and Jody you know their feeling is that you're never here. Even when you are here you're not here as a boss and you're really not asserting yourself.
>> You know the other thing that the staff brought up is [music] your relationship with each other. The staff actually said, "Well, Robert speaks to Jody like she's kind of one of us." Is that true?
>> I'm I'm I'm gonna say yes.
>> Yeah.
>> She was my assistant back in the day.
>> You treat >> That's why I probably feel like I'm still like I treat her like the stylist assistant.
>> That's not communicating and that's not running your business. That is your biggest problem.
>> So, look, Robert, I want you to tell Jod what you feel like you need from her.
I feel that you could spend more time here with me.
I feel that you used to have a passion.
I don't I [music] know you have children now and they take up a lot of your time, but I feel like I'm trying to do it all.
>> I hear you sounding angry and, you know, passing blame.
>> You know, we're 50/50 partners. I'm willing to take my whatever it is. Let's write it all up. Split it down the middle. You handle this, I'll handle this. If that's what it is, we shake on it. Do your job, I'll do my job. And at least that's a start.
>> I thought that's how we did do it. Maybe he doesn't think I do enough duties.
>> Robert, you can't pass the buck to Jod.
>> Mhm.
>> You guys have to make these decisions together, not pass the buck because, hey, I'm busy with the highlight now.
You go deal with it.
>> Yeah.
>> Hey, I've got to go and pick up my kids now. You go deal with it.
>> I made a comment to them about you. I said, I would love a partner like her if I could. we could switch places or she could be trained. I I it would be great.
>> You know, when you say something like that, to me, it sounds like you don't want Jod as a partner.
>> That's what I heard.
>> I want Jod as a partner if she truly truly wants to devote herself to this business.
>> It is true. I mean, do you really want it?
>> I have two kids at home.
>> You don't have to pick this one over this one. You actually can have both and have both be very successful. The question to me is, do you want both?
>> Right.
>> It's my life.
>> Come with me. Jod's neglect is a big part of the reason this business is failing. She either needs to recommmit or step down and let Robert run the salon. This is the front door of your business.
To me, this is really decision time because you either need to hand Robert your keys and walk out the door or you need to commit to being here and being a full partner.
>> Can you [music] do that?
>> I don't think I can Yeah. make do or what you're saying and be here more and or I don't want to be.
>> I respect you for telling me that because there's nothing wrong with that decision. You can see that [music] you feel trapped and want out, but you don't know how to do it because you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, >> you know, and and >> I want you to be sad.
>> You shouldn't feel trapped.
>> You shouldn't.
>> Okay.
>> No.
>> No.
>> Mhm.
>> Cuz it just you came to that realization.
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz it hit you.
>> Mhm.
>> It's going to be okay. It really will be.
>> Okay.
>> All right. realizing that that's how you feel is actually a really a really good place to get [music] to to fix this.
Okay. So, it'll be okay. It's a good thing. It really is. [music] >> The realization of quitting um being a business owner at Tantrum was difficult, but at the same time, I am really relieved. I thought I wanted to be an owner until talking to Tabitha and Robert about it and um realizing I just wanted to be a stylist.
>> If she wanted to be a stylist here, be a stylist here. I'd rather whatever makes you happy.
>> The weight has been lifted. I think it's going to be easier on myself [music] and her as well to um to get focused and run the salon a little not a little, a lot better. [music] A lot better. Sounds like, you know, you've come to a pretty big decision right now.
>> Whatever her decision is, I think, you know, >> don't worry.
>> I'm fine already.
>> Okay, good. We have a really big announcement for the staff tomorrow.
>> All right, so go home, get some rest.
>> Thank you.
>> All right. Thank you.
>> Okay. It's extremely difficult juggling the demands of being a mother and running a business. Jod made a really good decision today, [music] and ultimately, I think it's going to help this business survive.
So, how you all feeling this morning?
Good. Good.
>> Thank you.
>> Good. Last night, Robert and Jody had a conversation about the future of the salon. So, why don't you tell the staff?
>> Well, Jody and I have uh come to a decision [music] that we feel that's going to better the salon. And so therefore, >> Jody, >> Jody, >> I have decided to step down as owner, as partner, and just be a stylist here.
>> It totally caught me off guard and uh I wasn't expecting that.
>> We're here to grow together, and you know, any decision you guys make, we're here to back you guys both up on anything. So, >> and I'm fine with it. I hope you guys support me and I 100%. You know, >> we have a really big day today.
Something that, you know, we really have to do is make this the turning point for the salon and get out and market the reopening. We really need to, you [music] know, get new business in the doors. So, pack up your tools cuz we're going on a field trip. All right, get your stuff. Come on.
Today, I [music] want us to do a promotional cutting event that we can really target to women that live in this area that are mothers with their children. Because, [music] you know, if you make a child happy, the mother's always happy. Oh, yes.
>> That's the key. Tantrum Salon is in a suburban community with lots of families. Marketing to moms and kids is a great way to keep new people coming into the salon.
>> And Margie, invite people to the grand reopening.
Talk about the salon. get people booked.
>> Did you want to get a consultation or did you want to get a haircut? Okay, let me if it's okay with you. Can I get your name?
>> Yes, it's Stephanie.
>> What are you doing? A couple of little braids.
>> Yeah, she had the front braid right here. So, I'm just going to pull it back like this.
>> Very pretty.
>> So, how are we going to be cutting Juliet's hair today?
>> The trim.
>> Wow, it looks so much better. Yeah, we're having a little fun here.
>> So, how are you feeling about all this today? [music] Is it fun to kind of get out and work with the >> Super fun?
>> Good.
>> It's really good.
>> When I first met Jody, she seemed really unhappy today. Jody seems like the weight has been lifted off her shoulders.
>> Make sure you don't get distracted.
[music] >> Okay.
>> Especially by that candy. I can see you holding on to that candy bar. You won't even You won't put the bloody bag down with all the candy in it. It's unbelievable. You've got like a vice grip on it.
>> Margie did a really good job today. I hope she can continue to be more professional and help her brother run this salon.
>> Thank you.
>> You're welcome.
>> It looks really good.
>> Working in the community today made me [music] rethink how I want people to look at our salon. They always say when you close a door, a window [music] opens. So, I'm ready for a whole new change.
After we finished at the park, I took everyone back to the salon to kick off the renovation because you can't have a successful salon with all this filth around. You sound I can feel that you're scared. [laughter] >> Come on. Your own back room bloody scares you. There's no hope. The first thing I want to do is get rid of the bug and roach problem in here. All right.
And it needs to be [music] cleaned up.
So, let's go.
>> It's disgusting.
You can't use these on clients.
>> Oh, sorry. [screaming] >> Oh my god. Are you okay, Tabitha?
>> It is disgusting. [music] We have roaches in the salon. I think we lost business because of that.
I have a lot of work in front of me to do, [music] but you guys also have a lot of work that you need to take care of in the next couple of days. You guys need to be ready for the reopening [music] and on top of your game. All right, get some rest. I want lots of energy and lots of enthusiasm and lots of really good work when you come back.
[music] >> All right.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. It's the most enthusiasm I'm hearing.
>> On three right here. LET'S GO. 1 2 3.
[applause] >> OKAY.
>> Good morning, everyone.
>> Good morning.
>> Are you guys ready to see the salon?
>> Yes.
>> All right. Let's go.
>> Come on.
>> Come on.
Oh my god. Wow.
>> Oh my gosh. I love it.
>> This is cute.
>> Look at the kid area.
>> You know, the color that you had this place really made it look kind of closed in. So, this is much more neutral. It's much cooler and it's really opened up the space [music] like Let me take you on the tour. Over here we have a new seating area by Belvadier.
The retail area is now right in the window so that clients can actually see that it's a hairdressing salon. New light fixtures over the front desk and a great light wall over here. That's a beautiful feature.
>> God, this place looks different.
>> The office not only has been painted, but it's nice and organized. I mean, it's really just been cleaned up, totally organized for you so that you can find everything and you can work in here properly.
>> It's great.
>> Are you crying?
>> I'm just overwhelmed. I really, really am. This is, [music] you know, if I could have had a long time coming, if I could have had a place, pictured a place to look, this is how it would look. It's very contemporary. It's it's [music] modern. It's great. It's friendly and it's great. I was really emotional because it was a it's been a long tough week. So, I wasn't even through the whole place and I [music] was like my eyes were getting all water.
I was such a baby.
>> Today is a really big day and I expect all of you to really step up today and Jody, you're part of the team. [music] >> It made me sad to feel that I wasn't an owner, but on the other hand, I was relieved to be part of the staff and I still got to experience the new salon with them. I do not regret my decision one bit. Corey, I want you to do great work.
>> Okay.
>> Okay. And Margie, the first day I was in here, I really didn't see you do anything. I saw you eat. And that has to stop.
>> Okay.
>> Robert, what I really need from you is no more excuses.
>> Okay.
>> Robert likes to blame everyone, especially Jodie, for this salon failing. So now he needs to step up and prove that he can run this salon on his own. You guys need to get your stations ready. Clients will be here soon. Have a great day.
>> Great.
[applause] >> Hi.
>> The Easter appointment with Marine. Okay. Right this way. I'll take you.
I want [music] your best work today.
>> Okay.
>> I want to be wowed and impressed.
>> Okay.
>> I'm doing pretty good. I haven't ate anything.
>> I feel like I'm on a diet right now.
>> I don't think I mentioned you. I'm Robert.
>> I'm Becca.
>> I'm Becca. Becca. I'm one of the owners.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Should I say one of the owners? It's going to get a little hard. I am >> officially the owner.
>> The owner. There you go.
>> I am officially the owner.
>> Perfect. What's your name?
>> Noah.
>> Noah. Hi, I'm Tabitha. How you doing?
[music] The mommy and kids marketing event we did at the park was a huge success. A lot of new clients came in today.
>> Okay. So, what are we going to be doing today?
>> Well, let's try and keep it. I just wanted to clean it up a little.
>> Okay.
>> You didn't bring back any candy or gummy bears or anything?
>> No, but I'm hungry and I'm doing good.
>> Are you sure? Do you have pockets?
>> No. No. I don't have no pocket back here. [laughter] >> Yeah. I'm not putting my hand in. It's okay. When I first met Margie, she was incredibly unprofessional and broke [music] every single rule that could be broken in the salon.
>> I think I'm going to throw this trash away in the trash.
>> Okay.
>> I was really surprised to see that Maji really stepped up today. She seems to want to help her brother and be a better front desk manager.
>> Hi, it's nice to see you. I invited the mayor of Cavina to stop by and see the new improved Tantrum Salon on reopening day. So, this is the mayor.
>> Oh, you're the mayor. [laughter] >> Nice to meet you.
>> Good to see you.
>> Thanks for coming in.
>> We're really happy that you're doing business here.
>> How you feeling today?
>> Good. I'm ready to take the next step uh in my in my career here. I think I'm I'm ready for it.
>> That's interesting. It's good to hear your commitment and that you take it so seriously. Jerry does a great job and he seems to really have passion for this salon. He shows all the signs of being a great [music] manager. How's your haircut?
>> I love it.
>> Yeah.
>> While the stylists were working, I sat down with Robert and Jod to make sure that they'd figured out a strategy for the buyout.
>> The [music] thing that I'm want to make sure that you communicate to Robert >> is your concerns about exiting out >> since you're going to buy me out or however it's going to go down. I just want you to know I want you to be fair about it.
>> Have you thought of how we can make how we can do a buyout? It >> it's overwhelming with everything that's going on right here and I honestly have already thought, okay, I will be fair.
Let's let's shake on it and when we sit down and we'll we'll do it and we'll do it right.
>> I mean, [music] you do sound like you have actually, you know, stepped up, but I want to make sure that you take care of her.
>> I'll stick to my word. It's a promise.
>> Thank you.
>> You know, I love you.
>> Love you, too. I'm relieved that Robert and I got to talk today [music] about the buyout. I'd rather just be a stylist, make money that way. Can I give you a couple of tips for diffusing hair?
Beautiful hair, by the way. It's lovely.
>> Um, don't touch.
>> Oh, okay.
>> Cory struggled with the blow dry today, and she really is very green as a stylist.
>> See how this is starting to frizz already?
>> Yeah.
>> Just sit the dryer in.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Go underneath, but don't touch it.
I know you're doing that, but you're constantly doing this and moving around.
You're disrupting the curl.
[music] >> See, you're good with kids.
>> That's what I just told her. I said, "I do a lot of kids, homie."
>> Exactly. It helps.
>> Jody did really nice work today, and it just shows that she's found her passion for hairdressing again.
>> So, Mr. Mayor, how's Albert treating you today?
>> No, Albert's taking he's a good My man is taking such good care of me. I'm very impressed. As a matter of fact, at our next city council meeting, I'll see I got my haircut here.
>> See, lucky that you uh came over here >> to talk to.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz I got more out more information.
>> That's what happens when you lead.
Robert did a really great job today getting out from behind his [music] chair, checking on his stylist and his clients. That's the kind of owner he needs to be. Are you ready to come and sit down with me and hear my final recommendations? Okay, let's go.
So, how was the day? How do you think it went?
>> I think it went good. When I went around, I heard people saying that they will definitely [music] be back.
>> You've always kind of shared the burden of the business with someone else. So, why do you think you're ready now to do it [music] by yourself?
>> You know, I've already been approached by Albert.
>> Okay. [music] >> Jerry, Marlene, they've already come up to me and said, "I want to help."
>> Jerry has stood out to me >> all week. Jerry's here before I am in the morning. He's here after I go home cleaning and doing things that nobody else is doing. So, >> I mean, do you think you're ready to make him a manager of the salon?
>> I would be. Mhm.
>> When I [music] came into this salon, Margie was a disaster.
>> Mhm.
>> I would have told Margie she was gone [music] within 5 minutes of watching her. How do you think she did today?
>> I think she did better.
>> I mean, do you think she's going to be able to follow through now?
>> I do.
>> Let's talk about Corey. [music] How do you think Corey went today?
>> Before you walked in the door, >> Corey was on her way out.
[music] >> Hi.
>> Where you going? This way. Come on.
[music] No playing. No. Oh, you want me to pick you up? Really? I don't want to.
Oh god. [laughter] >> Do you want to get down now?
>> Okay. You're not going to go near the window, are you? Look at me. No. Going near the window.
Okay.
>> Okay.
I love children.
So, Robert and I were sitting and talking about my final recommendations.
>> Jody, how was it for you today to be part of the team? And you were busy today.
>> Yes, I was. It felt good like old times.
>> Good. I'm glad. Robert and I talked about who should help him manage this salon. Why don't you announce to everyone who you decided on?
>> Jerry, [applause] >> of course I wanted the position. I don't want next week to roll around and say, "Oh, Tabitha's gone. We can go back to normal. Hell no. There's no way. I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to do what I have to do to make this work."
>> That brings us >> Cory.
>> Cory. Wow. Okay. I'm on a roll [laughter] taking charge. Wow, >> Cory, I didn't manage you. I really didn't. And it's my fault. So, what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to take you back with me.
>> And Cy, look what I recommended to Robert is that sometimes you need to take a step back to take a step forward.
>> Robert decided that I needed to be moved down from a stylist to an assistant. I understand that I'm not the best and I know I need to work on it, but I just feel like I kind of got thrown under the bus by Robert.
So, Margie, when I first watched you in the undercover, I told Robert that you would probably work for me for 5 minutes.
But, you know, today I really did see you trying. You weren't eating at the front desk. You weren't texting. You weren't reading magazines. [music] I really did see you change.
>> I am seeing a big change in Robert. I hope he stays this way. I really do. I'm going to be there. So, I'm [music] going to take a step up to help him with that.
>> I have one last thing to do and that's give you back your key.
>> Jody, good luck to you. [music] >> Thank you.
>> And good luck to all of you guys. And you guys better step up because you never know. I may be back.
>> Thank you. [applause and cheering] >> Thank you, >> Tabitha. And I did not start off seeing eye to eye. I accidentally called her the B- word, but now [music] I meant to call her the F word. Fabulous.
>> [applause] [cheering] >> It's been six weeks since I left Tantrum Salon, and I hope when I go in today, Robert has found a way to buy out Jodie, and he's stepping up as an owner. I hope Jod is enjoying being a stylist behind the chair, and Margie better not be eating burritos behind the front desk.
How are you?
>> Good.
>> How is everything?
>> Wonderful. How are you?
>> Good. How are you? Tell me how it is being manager. I think it's awesome.
Everybody's working together now. It seems like we're just tighter. It seems like we're >> You feel like more of a team.
>> More of a team. Yeah.
>> That's good news.
>> The business has been great and we just been growing. Just go, go, go.
>> Are you eating behind the desk?
Actually, I'm just drinking water. I feel the business now at Tantrum is very good. [music] I think everybody respects everybody now.
>> Hi. How are you?
>> You've done so much for me.
>> Really?
>> You don't even know.
>> Where's Jody?
>> She says, "When Tabitha walked in today, I was surprised, but pleasantly surprised. [music] So many things have changed. Tabitha, >> I'm focused.
>> Okay.
>> Um, in control. Jerry has become the best general manager.
>> Where's Corey? [music] >> Cory couldn't take it.
>> She wasn't ready to be behind the chair.
>> No. She should have stepped up and said, "I'm here. What do you need me to do?
>> I want to be a great stylist."
>> So, are you marketing the salon?
>> We have a huge sore tomorrow night with the mayor, Chamber of Commerce, city council, 150 people. They're [music] all coming >> in the salon.
>> In the salon.
>> That's great for business. So tell me what's going on with you and Jod and the partnership.
>> She will be taken very good care of [clears throat] Tabitha coming in has like put money back in my pocket. Got my [music] staff in order. I love it. It's the best thing I ever did in my life.
>> Robert has really taken control of his business. Jerry has really stepped up as general manager and Margie is being much more professional. If things stay on this track, Robert can save Tantrum Salon and it will be a really successful business.
