Black fatigue refers to the mental, emotional, and physical exhaustion that Black individuals experience when navigating public spaces, particularly in environments where they feel unwelcome, unsafe, or constantly monitored. This exhaustion stems from the cumulative stress of dealing with discrimination, microaggressions, and the need to constantly prove one's worth or safety in spaces that may not feel inclusive. The video illustrates this through personal experiences in various settings like restaurants, cruise ships, and retail stores, where Black individuals report feeling uncomfortable, judged, or targeted. Understanding black fatigue is important for recognizing systemic issues in how public spaces are designed and managed, and for fostering more inclusive environments where all individuals can feel safe and respected.

I'm Tired of Pretending I Don't See This Pattern | Black FatigueAjouté :
All right, so every time I come to an area that's nice, the thing that they have in common is that there are like no black people around and I am dead serious about that and I know that people are not going to like me. You're going to be talking crap about it, whatever. This is the reality of the situation. I'm in Boston for work right now. I'm at the waterfront or seaport or whatever it is and I was just walking around. It's nice. It obviously looks expensive. There's nice restaurants.
Everybody's just chilling like families.
Just everybody is acting normal and I'm just like, oh my god, there are like no black people here and when I mean no black people, I mean none, all right?
Like I'm the only one that I've seen that's not like some kind of employee, right? And then there are the people that are here from out of town for the conference that I'm here for and it really does remind me like it makes me think of, well, why is Miami Beach so chill? Why is Miami Beach so quiet?
Again, there are no black people. And I'm just I'm not saying, but I'm just saying this is something that I have observed um in the places where people are calm, people are chill. There's just a sense of community. Everybody's just vibing. It's really, really cool. Every time I have that experience, there are either zero black people or a bare minimum of black people. You can do with that what you want to.
Is he telling the truth or is he lying?
And I got to be honest. I mean, you got to keep it all the way 100, right?
It is what it is. He's honestly telling the truth because I go out so many times to so many different places and once it's a mixed community, it tends to create this balance. Don't talk about if it's less black people, right? People tend to behave more civilized. A lot of times you go out and I know we can most of us, right? We could all vouch for this situation. You go to your favorite restaurant and once a black person walks in, sorry to say, a particular type of black person that is, right? Cuz you can kind of tell the difference.
The aura just changes.
You see the the the the facial expression on the waiters, on the waitresses and they're looking like, oh boy, here we go. Now it's time to fight for who's going to take this table.
You know, that type of situation and you know, we just got to do better because it's embarrassing. It's not every place you go, you got to show up and show out and act like act like a complete uncivilized idiot. You know what I'm saying? It's ridiculous.
The Carnival Blue Lagoon excursion.
A family got on the boat without wristbands and how?
The gentleman that was helping everyone to get on the boat um had to step off to retie down the boats. So that's how they got on the boat. No wristbands, you can't go to the Blue Lagoon excursion. They asked for her to get off of the boat. She was determined that she was not going to get off the boat.
Police officer came and towed her off of the boat.
She gave a protester energy by just sitting there and not moving. Not only did she hold us up an hour and a half from our beach time, she also held up the people that was waiting at Blue Lagoon Beach. So they was late getting back on their cruise ship.
So we was all traumatized by not knowing what was going to happen.
We paid for a full day at the beach. We only got about 3 hours at the beach.
Got to be honest, black fatigue all the way. Why am I saying black fatigue all the way? You don't hear the people clapping in the background? They're happy that they're escorting her off of the ship.
I mean, come on, big grown woman and I remember this story. She had a son with her and her son was embarrassed. He looked like he was about 9, 10 years old and imagine you're a whole grown person, right? A grown woman and you're acting out worse than a toddler. I mean, come on. Come on, lady, grow up. You didn't pay your fare. That's number one. So it's not fair to the other people that's on that ship. Second of all, not to mention you you tying up everybody else's time. As the lady said, you cut her time on the beach short.
Ridiculous.
Because the ferry boat was late getting to us and then we had this hour and a half delay and then it took 30 minutes to get to the beach. So next time I won't choose Carnival to go on a cruise.
And I'm sorry, but it's not Carnival's fault. You know what I'm saying?
So because of her stupid behavior and action, she cost Carnival money because now the other patron said that she's not going to cruise with Carnival anymore. You see what I'm saying?
Just because she doesn't want to run into the same type of entitled silly behavior type person. Ridiculous.
Ridiculous.
>> [laughter] >> Can somebody say animalistic beast?
Ridiculous. Where is backup when you need backup? I mean, lady cop, this is not cutting it. If somebody was to kill if somebody was to if somebody was to really get injured or killed, like, ma'am, you I get it. Kudos to you for standing up and trying to do your best because that's the job that you signed up for, but I'm sorry, this particular incident is a little bit way past your capacity. This is ridiculous.
Come on, let's help him. Y'all should have been helping. This is crazy.
Help her. Help figure it out. I don't know, but that is a mess.
I'mma say something. I don't give a damn who don't like it, especially you blacks.
This isn't black fatigue. This is black exhaustion cuz like I said before, everywhere you go, you manage to run it down, tear it up and people don't want you there.
Ruth's Chris Steak House, high-end steak house, create a commotion. Cruise, you know the story with that. And any place else you go, this is Houston spot. You half-ass naked, end up fighting. They tore the beach. I'm going on and on with this.
I got it on record.
I'mma tell you something. If it was left to me, I wouldn't put you out on an open plane cuz the wild animals may eat you and you're poisoning them.
And one last thing, an old man once told me, if you shot a [ __ ] to the moon, if he don't tear something up, he'll steal it.
That's deep.
>> [laughter] >> That's too much ice. Too much ice. Too much ice. Get that back. That's too much ice. Do not play with me. Do not play with me. That's too much ice. I said light ice. I said light ice.
So rude. What?
You didn't just throw me like that. I'm finna get out.
You betting me something?
Can I get honey mustard?
Shout out to all the people that work in fast food because I know one thing, I couldn't do it. You couldn't pay me I not even for a million dollars. I'm sorry. I I do something else. I couldn't do that. Couldn't do it.
That's what I'm talking about, y'all. That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking I'm so glad other black people are thinking about black fatigue because I've been having that on my mind for so long now.
I can smell the Uncle Tom and [ __ ] comments coming already. Black people are not a collective whole, okay?
There's two primary types. There's black people and then there's [ __ ] And trust me, white people, us black people really be right there with you when you be looking at a [ __ ] like So I think we should change the term to [ __ ] fatigue because black people, they're the cool ones. They just be chilling, minding their business, living as black people. Now, [ __ ] are the ones you tend to hold your belongings a little tighter when they come around.
Not black people. [ __ ] are the ones who be screaming and hollering all the time in public for no reason. [ __ ] are the ones who going to argue with a cop over little ass [ __ ] [ __ ] are the ones who still pull out the oppression card over every little thing.
It was not black people who was looting businesses, burning buildings down, and destroying cities. That was [ __ ] And I have an extreme disdain for [ __ ] because they give us all a bad look.
Legally, we should be able to identify as either black people or [ __ ] and that's the distinction right there. Just so we can all continue to avoid the [ __ ] that we don't want to be around, but all the black people and everybody else, we all get to live in peace and harmony.
Did she just say she got two daughters right here, but not an ounce of respect for herself or her daughters? I'm pretty certain there was another way that this situation could have been de-escalated, but when you just love to, like I said, show out and act a fool, and you want all eyes on you, whether it be for negative reasons, and you crave attention, this is the [ __ ] that you do.
Mhm.
And imagine her kids has to go home with her. Lord have mercy.
10 lbs of belly on display. Really?
You left the house with your kids.
Really?
I don't know what's worse, the fact that she's being greedy on top of the fact that she's already big, or if she or if it's the fact that she's just under dressed and just exposed and all out there, right? It's just I I I just don't get it. She figured because what, the hair is done, the lashes are done.
That makes it okay to come outside literally inappropriate. You have kids.
Where's your dignity? Where's your respect? Where's your decorum?
Then they wonder why they end up with half of the people that they end up with. It's like, who's going to respect you looking like that? That's Come on.
Let's Let's keep it real. That's disgusting.
Why do they all have the same thing in common?
All big backs.
All dressed the same way.
They all act They just I don't know what it is, but it's it's it's just you can't even understand what's going on, who started what, how to de-escalate, because everybody is a yelling and talking at the same time. Like a bunch of children in kindergarten. Like what Come on, MAN.
I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I I'VE SEEN ENOUGH.
This is like it's really getting out of hand, right? Because it's everywhere you go. It's not limited to just cruising or, you know, Carnival Cruise. It's not limited to Spirit Airlines. Nor is it limited to Walmart.
It's like an an a a sewage spillover everywhere you go.
Your favorite restaurant, like the gentleman said, you Chris Ruth used to be a nice place. They somehow messed Chris Ruth up, right?
Everywhere you go.
They're just there.
Like it's almost as if they sought out these places that are nice with the intent to destroy it. You got to say to yourself like at some point this has to stop. If they can't maintain control over themselves, then maybe I'm sorry to say it, but maybe certain entities have to I know they can't discriminate, right? But maybe they have to raise the prices.
Something has to be done.
Or have everything made by appointment. I know it sounds unrealistic, but to be honest with you, only a certain amount of a particular type of people are allowed at at a particular time, right? Because you want majority decent people, and maybe only 2% of that type of people, if they have to, you know, patronize your business.
Like does that even make sense? But I'm just trying to figure it out, because like I said, these are the type of people that you don't want to even have interactions with, right?
They it's it's just too much for the regular person. It's just too much. Anyway, y'all let me know what you think about this video. Have you experienced black fatigue? Are you the person who's creating the black fatigue? Be honest.
Anyway, y'all definitely hit that hype button, like button, subscribe button, and don't forget to leave those comments, and I'll catch you with another video.
