NCBA posts Sh6B profit as digital lending drives strong Q1 growth

Now, Kenya's NCBA Group PLC has kicked off the 2026 financial year on a strong note, posting a profit after tax of 6 billion shillings. Now, a 9% rise from the same period last year, driven by robust income growth and expanding digital lending. The lender's operating income climbed 15% to 20 billion shillings, even as profit before tax rose to 7.4 billion. However, the results also show rising pressure on costs and credit risk with operating expenses up 9% to 9.7 billion. The bank continued to expand its balance sheet with total assets growing to 741 billion shillings and customer deposits crossing the 544 billion mark.
