Amalgam dental restoration setup differs from composite setup by eliminating bonding agents, etching, and light curing, while requiring an amalgamator to mix amalgam capsules, a plugger with waffled end for condensation, specific carving instruments (IPC, discoid cleoid), and matrix systems (topomyer with universal or dolly matrix bands) for proper restoration placement.

Amalgam set up本站添加:
okay so for a malcolm setup it is pretty similar to composite setup all right we just don't need anything for actually bonding a composite restoration to a tooth so we don't need the bond or the etch or any of that stuff we don't need the light cure the composite all right so you'll see over here we still have our anesthetic setup we still have our entire restorative cassette thank you we still have our articulating paper with our articulating holder we still have wooden wedges liner or sorry desensitizer um or liner if you need a dappen dish floss two by twos uh cheek protector cotton rolls all right then we still have our saliva ejector our hve our air water tip over here we still have our air water tip our high speed hand piece our set up bird block and our slow speed hand pieces here okay so what's going to be different is that we're going to have to have the amalgam set up here so this is an amalgamator or a tituator or a shaker people call it a lot of different things basically all it does is it holds the amalgam capsule in these two little arms all right so you want to set that up before the patient gets in there you want that all ready to go all right when the doctor is ready for it you're going to turn this dial for a set amount of time and it's going to shake it to mix up that amalgam have however much amalgam you're going to need so an extra amalgam capsule if you need an amalgam wall okay the amalgam carrier with the amalgam into the amalgam well with the amalgam carrier the amalgam gets shaken up dumped this gets broken open dumped into the amalgam well when the doctor is ready for it you take the amalgam carrier and you load it like that on both sides and then pass it to the doctor okay while the doctor is putting the amalgam into the tooth like that all right you're getting ready the plugger so the amalgam plugger here has a little tiny waffled end i don't know if you can see it probably not it's flat and it's waffled nope okay then you're going to have your carving instruments so you have your ipc in your proximal cover for carving amalgam in between the teeth your discoid cleoid all right for a card being amalgam closely okay and then instead of a matrix band you're going to have your topomyer and your either universal matrix band which just looks like a v or your dolly matrix band which has two little bumps like that okay that's it pretty simple all right not a whole lot of extra stuff but once again put these on the list keep it somewhere handy that way you don't forget them
