John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering with a 25-year tenure at Apple, is set to become the company's new CEO, replacing Tim Cook who was known for his expertise in logistics and supply chain management; Ternus has led significant product innovations including Apple Silicon Macs, the redesigned MacBook Air, and the iPhone's transition to USB-C, though he also faced criticism for the MacBook Pro's Touch Bar feature.

Who is John Ternus, Apple’s new CEO?Ajouté :
Apple just announced that John Turnis, its senior vice president of hardware engineering, is going to take the role of CEO from Tim Cook. Cook was lauded for his expertise in logistics and supply chain management. Turnist's background, on the other hand, is as more of a product person. Turnis' 25-year tenure at Apple began in 2001 when he joined the company's product design team. He became a manager just a few years after being hired, and in 2013, he was promoted to vice president of hardware engineering. In 2021, he became Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering and joined the company's executive team. Turnis has been the face of announcing many Macs for many years, including Apple's profoundly transformative Macs with Apple silicon.
>> With our first chip designed specifically for the Mac.
>> In just the last 5 years since Turnis became an SVP, Apple's also taken big swings like redesigning the MacBook Air away from its iconic wedge chassis and transitioning the iPhone lineup to USBC.
Not everything Turnis has worked on has been a hit. A recent Bloomberg profile called Turnis a quote driving force behind the MacBook Pro's ill- fated Touch Bar. But with Apple rumored to shake things up soon with products like new smart home hardware, smart glasses, and even a foldable iPhone, Apple's betting on Turnis' product focused background to lead the company forward.
Starting September 1st, all of Apple's products and the future of the company will become the responsibility of Turnis. But that is for another day.
