Live Q&A with Craigzilla May 7th 2026Added:
What's up?
Uh heck.
What's going on, y'all?
How we doing YouTube?
What's going on, TD Nelson? Sporadic lives. Yeah, you know what, man? I'm trying to stay on a schedule um where I'm doing these every Thursday.
That's the plan.
every Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
uh Pacific time.
Thursdays 1:00 Pacific time, right?
Last Thursday I couldn't do it because they uh had the plan power outage, but they never did turn off the power.
So, I don't know what that was about.
That would be cool.
What's going on everybody?
What's up, people? We got five in the chat.
Let's see.
We are going to do I'll sing a song if we do 10 super chats.
How about that?
In one hour.
four o'clock your time got a lot of learning because of that. Yeah, man. You know, I I kind of fell off doing the lives in between spots. Now I'm settled back in again.
back on a schedule, you know.
I feel like Thursdays are a good day to do them. I have more flexibility now with how I can uh how I can do it.
So, really, I could do it anytime. I might put out a a survey. What's coming up on the tutorials? I'm glad you asked.
I just finished. Um, right.
Yo, this Watch this.
Okay, one more.
That's PYT.
Yeah.
So, that's what's coming up. There you go. You get a little sneak peek, the whole left hand, bass, and everything, right? You know, I I don't know if you were here for the last live I did, but uh I was talking about that a little bit, how I have a few Michael Jackson songs already on my channel that I've done, but late, you know, a couple of them really started popping off and I was like, what's going on? And then I was like, oh yeah, the movie just came out.
So, I had some Stevie Wonder stuff on the docket, you know, that I was going to be working on. Um, uh, how is it?
Ribbit in the sky.
I was going to do this one. I still need to work on it, but Right.
That's coming eventually. But then I did uh I just did a Stevie Wonder and I was thinking, okay, well, I should probably hit some of these Michael Jackson ones while they're popping off. I've always wanted to do one for PYT anyways. So, um, all I do, oh, that's a good one. Ganja crown. All I do is a good one. Yeah, that one surprised me when I first uh when I first learned it, I I think I mentioned that in the video, too, where I'm like, that first, you know, chord is kind of just octaves, right?
you know, and I I couldn't I kept listening to it going, "No, there's got to be some." But even the voices are all just singing that one note, I think, just for that f first one, right?
Yeah, that's a good one.
Cuz all I do is think of You know what? That one's not too bad. really your mind, right?
What's he say? I need to get out of work and go to my damn keyboard. Oh no, you're at work.
That's tragic, man. That's tragic.
I know that feeling for sure. I used to work at a gas station and I I kept keyboard in the back. So when it got slow, I'd go back into the back room and just practice my scales or whatever.
But yeah, I don't I don't miss that one bit.
Well, you can ask me any questions and I'll leave this live up for like a week, I think, before I get, you know, I got to come up with some membersonly content. So, I'm trying to think of ideas. I've been archiving my old live streams um into membersonly stuff, but I want to leave it up, you know, for like at least a week before I do that. So, Um, and then let's see, what else have I been working on? I I kind of want to do um while we're on the, you know, Michael Jackson kick, right?
There's kind of some It's I'm trying to figure this one out. It's just two chords, right? For the most part.
You know what I'm talking about.
remember the time, right?
But there's like that's how I I usually would play like right now if I was on a gig and it was like, "Hey, remember the time, you know? That's how I would do it.
C7 sharp five sharp nine to like F minor 9.
But when I really listen to it, I can hear these little things going on in the background like or like these little ghost notes like on that sharp nine chord.
There's this little and I think it's there for the for the other chord too.
I don't know quite how I'm going.
Maybe like that.
Yeah, I will do it. I'm gonna do remember the time next. So, this Monday it's going to be uh PYT and then the week after that it's going to be remember the time.
But I've got a busy week next week of gigs.
So, I'm hoping I'll be able to, you know, get that done in time.
But, uh it's not that there's not that much to it, right? It's just the two chords and then there's like the bridge and I'm not quite sure how it is something like I'm sure it does something at the end that's a little different Yeah, that's a that's a classic, right?
There's some other Michael Jackson ones I kind of want to do, too.
Human Nature.
Something like that.
I have to learn the intro chords though.
That's a good one. I think some of the guys Toto are on that.
Let's see. What are some other Michael Jackson ones that I know that might be a good one for like Halloween?
And then what's it do?
Right.
I got to learn those chords, but I know a little bit of it. I know the main part.
I learned this the other day.
I thought that was kind of cool. I never knew what what that was.
If something bad happens now on a gig, I can make a joke out of it.
Let's see what else we have here.
Oh, another Stevie one I kind of want to do.
Wait, how am I supposed to Um, same master blaster.
What is that major?
Superwoman. Oh yeah.
Um God.
Is that what you're talking about?
I like that. Oh man. You know what, man?
Let me pull that up actually real quick because there is keys on that for sure.
And I don't I don't think you guys will be able to hear this, but I can kind of maybe listen to it.
Superwoman.
There's a kind kind of an intro.
Here we go.
And I don't know where it goes from there, but very well.
Very well. That's my favorite part.
probably goes somewhere like there. I don't know. But that is definitely on my list, dude. Uh Superwoman.
Yeah, there's just so, you know, there's so many Stevie Wonder songs that it's just like where do you start? I And I get a lot of requests for them and it's just like oh man. And each one is like a huge investment time and energy and like trying to because I don't want to just like BS my way through it, you know? I want to do it. I want to really learn it, you know, to make sure like it's I'm doing my homework and getting everything all the chords right. So, I have to study it.
I think it's got to go somewhere like that.
I'm not sure.
I want to do superstition too. Kind of, but it's so like it's one of those things where it's like you just can't you can't get it like it is on the record, right? So, how would you even Probably something.
It's kind of tough to get that like on a weighted keyboard to get that like clab action.
It's pretty pretty tricky. Would I do any Daniel Caesar songs? Yeah. What's that one?
I do I do them all the time on the giga, right?
Like is it just the four chords now?
the best part.
And then What is that next part?
Get you is a classic. Yeah. No, thanks.
Thank you.
Yeah. Let's see. I can't remember how it goes.
Or is it?
I know. It goes like Is that what it is?
There we go.
The rock with you tutorial.
Okay. Okay. So, you watched the rock with you tutorial. What do you think about that? like I don't know five minute rant that I do in the middle of the video where I'm like going crazy trying to figure out the passing chord.
You know what I'm talking about.
Right.
That was driving me nuts, dude. I was and I was like, "Okay, I spent hours and hours like scouring the internet like looking for multi-tracks and all of that." And I'm like, after all all was said and done, you know, I made that video and I'm just like, "Okay, well, I found out all this information, right?
This passing card is like unusual and I'm I'm like I don't even know."
Like I I felt like I had to talk about it, right? But then also that does that make the video just like hard to watch or I I don't know. But I was like I can't make this video without like talking about this cuz it was it was crazy. And when I finally figured out what it was, I was like oh hell no, dude. That's the chord, right?
When you play it though, it sounds pretty good like in the Okay. Easy to follow. Good. Good.
Because, you know, of all the the videos I've done, yeah, that was the only one where I really went off, I think, like on a crazy tangent. I try to it's it's hard to find a balance because I am a very detailoriented person and I like to cover all the little like nuances and little moves that I'm hearing and I like to learn them and once I learn them I'm like okay well I should probably put it in the video you know because I took the time to learn it but then sometimes I'm like okay well am I over complicating this now? Do people just want the basic chords or what?
Okay, Carlos Music is another good one.
Yeah, I like Carlos music too, dude.
He's cool, man. But he's, you know, he be getting the chords wrong, dog. I'm sorry, Carlos music. I'm not trying to talk smack, but like I'm like, dude, sometimes I watch his stuff and I'm like, you know, that's not the chord.
Come on. But he can sing really good.
So, I like watching him play and sing.
But um yeah, I try to I try to really get every chord just like how it is on the record, which sometimes is cool and sometimes it's like kind of takes me a while or it it's like with some songs, you know, there so studio produced it's hard to get them just like the record, right?
No shade to Carlos music. Sir House of Jazz. Those two guys are my rivals though right now. I feel like every time you look up a song, one of my videos, it's like those two guys are just right above me every time. And I'm like, Cara's Music, Sir House of Jazz. But I learned from those guys a lot when I was first, you know, starting out. So I love them. But it's funny now I'm like, "Oh, I gotta I gotta beat those guys now.
They get But they've got so many videos.
That's the thing. The quantity is like crazy.
Some of them have one of them I think has like over a thousand. Maybe that's Sir House of Jazz. He's got like over a thousand videos." I'm like, "Dude, what?" I think I'm about I'm approaching a hundred right now. I've been doing this for like almost two years, year and three quarters.
So, yeah, pretty crazy.
I am currently at 97 96 97 video.
Let's look. I'm just curious now.
Uh, visibility public 98 videos. Dude, I'm just thinking about that the thumbnail has the title, right?
But I'm also kind of like, you know, I mean, I don't know.
I kind of want people to be able to see my setup too though before they click on the video. Like I always like when I see the like the keyboard and then also the hands and then also the face. It's like oh okay this guy this is what I'm going to be he's one it's one of those kind of videos, you know, where you can see everything that's going on, right?
I should experiment with that though and see. I've never actually tried doing that where I put the title on as the thumbnail.
Okay, I like that idea.
Hey.
Uh oh.
April, how you doing?
Found my channel a day ago.
Oh, yeah. Okay, cool. Well, welcome to the channel.
22 Mucish.
Welcome to the channel, man. I got a lot of cool songs. I gota What? What are you learning? Rock with you.
Yeah. Just I've been working on I've been trying to find good songs to do, but I got almost a hundred. So, if you look through there, some of them are kind of obscure. You might, you know, Frank Ocean.
Trying to think, do I know any Frank Ocean?
I I used to do I I don't have a video for it, but man, I got my dad in the chat. It's going to be a good day.
close to you.
I'm trying I'm playing Thinking About You.
About Oh, close to you. Yeah.
Or is it I can't remember how it goes. I used to know it.
That's not quite right.
How do I remember all these songs? It's insane. I don't know, man. I don't really remember all of them, but sometimes it just I have to like it comes back or no, I think it was And then just like I want to be still to create a All right.
Yeah. How do you remember? I don't know.
you know, and I've I've seen a funny thing about this that made me cuz I'm my memory is really not that great when it comes to most things, but I saw something where they took like Alzheimer's patients, right? And they played music for them like from their era, so like you know 30s or 40s or whatever it was like big band whatever.
and they they could remember they started remembering stuff and this there's some studies that say that like musical memory comes from a different part of the brain maybe or something like that. So that you know being able to remember a song it's it's uh different than being able to remember and and it's true like if you you know think about like little nursery rhymes and stuff like um the songs help you remember stuff you they're easier to remember or like how do you remember all the words to a one of your favorite songs is because it's like the melody you know and there's something about music attaching it to music and that's how they say that's how like humans passed down history in the past was through like songs that told the stories of how everything went down and just something about something about music is like it's easier for us to remember and it might sound crazy like if you especially if you're like just starting out you're like I can barely remember two three songs you know like it's because it's hard but like the more you do it the more it's like okay it's this chord then it's that chord and then and then you kind of just do it by I don't know man it's your fingers kind of can remember it better than if you and even sometimes when I'm like trying to remember I can't but when I'm not trying then I can remember you know it's like the the musical muscle memory kicks in and I I can remember stuff like songs like that sometimes people even they'll be like hey you know that song no I don't think I do and then they start playing like oh yeah I remember that and then you know it starts to >> starts to come back to me But yeah, I haven't played that in years.
And I'm probably not playing it exactly right either, but it's like close enough.
I think that's how it goes.
Thanks, man.
Appreciate you. Thanks for reminding me of that song. That'd be a good one to do. like the Stevie Wonder version of it I feel like would be cool. And then he goes into Never Can Say Goodbye I think after that with the vocoder, right?
That was cool. I remember when I first saw that I was like, "Oh, I got to learn that. I got to learn that."
Okay. Thanks for popping in. 22 mush.
Thanks for coming. Thanks for stopping by. Catch you on the next one. I'm doing this every Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time, so 400 p. p.m. Eastern.
What was I going to do?
I forgot.
Oh, I want to get Yeah.
I'm more What's up people? We got five in the chat.
We got five.
This seems like the perfect time to gift a membership.
I can gift memberships now and I will right now.
Uh membership gifting send five now.
Congratulations to these people.
Y'all just got some free memberships.
So, congratulations.
Be sure to check out some cool membersonly features. Now, let's see. Was that George Benson? I just want to hang around you. Which one?
I don't think so because I I don't I don't think I'm hip to that, but could have been something similar.
So, we shall see. I do want to do some George Benson at some point.
Um, oh, thank you. Got your ground.
You almost off work now or what? What's going on?
Let's see.
What was How did that one go?
You know which one I want to do?
Actually, this isn't George Benson.
Do you guys know this?
Hey, congratulations, man.
Yeah.
Bump it down.
Got to do this one. So, Can anybody name that tune?
Uh, sorry.
before the Erica Badu.
I have to check it out.
Yeah, you know the George Benson stuff.
Hello.
I kind of know that that but not really.
That's the new job sample, which hey, wait a minute. Which one?
Dude, I don't know any of those songs, so I might just be I was just kind I think I was kind of just jamming on some chords.
I don't know. I can't say for sure.
That's funny. Was it something like this?
cuz I thought I was kind of just jamming out on a few chords here, but maybe it's a it's already a That's kind of the funny thing, you know, you start jamming on some chords and then, oh yeah, I just came up with this cool new progression, but then you find out it's already been What's going on people?
Ask me anything. I'm here.
The floor is yours.
Send me some hearts. I'm sending myself some hearts. You know what I mean? Hey, I watch my own live. I send my own hearts.
Counting stars.
My new job. My new job is All right. You know what? We ain't pulling something up in a minute.
Please hold while I find this song.
Music.
County Stars by One Republic.
No, that's not what we want.
Okay, here we go.
Oh, I see what you're saying. Uhhuh.
This is a Yeah, this song is um it is this is a I think this is a George Benson a sample. So, what's the name of that song? Uh does anybody know?
It's like uh so you guys are both right.
Um, what's the name of that song, though? It's a It is a George Benson song. Uh, it'll come to me.
Is it ascension or no? What?
Is it called Ascension?
Let me see if I can find it. I think it's called Ascension, not Maxwell.
Uh, it's called something like that.
Ascension. George Benson. That That rhymes, but I don't think that's it.
Oh, you know, I do know a George Benson, though. When I think about it, I can't I can't remember the name of that song, dude. But it's a George Benson song.
Do I know the intro to Mystic Brew by Ronnie Foster?
Yeah. Does anybody in the chat know the name of that song? What What is it?
Oh, sorry.
I can't remember. I can't remember the name of it.
It's not It's not It's or is it ascension by George Benson? That doesn't sound right.
I don't know, dude.
Or is that George Benson or is that somebody else?
Somebody in the chat, help me out here.
I was just talking with somebody about this my memory. I can remember the song, but I can't remember the name of it.
No, but a good George Benson one.
All right.
What's the name of this uh reason?
I remember this. The name of this one.
It's a lot of Right.
I wish I had three arms so I can play the bass, chords, and the line, right?
Oh, that's how I would do the chords.
Yeah. Okay.
Sorry.
Now, this is kind of a lazy way to play it, but you know, it get you by.
I like that. That's one of my favorites.
Affirmation.
Thank you, April. Affirmation.
Gone to ground. Listen to that song, dude.
Affirmation is the one. Um, is this is this smooth jazz? I think so.
I don't know.
I think it is. Yep. George Benson.
It's probably some kind of smooth jazz or um what else would you call it? Fusion, something like that.
What else are we in the mood for?
The the musical genre of what though? Of of the George Benson stuff or of what I was just playing.
This Oh, thank you. The electric piano sound is amazing. So, I'm using a a Yamaha ModX Um, and this is sound is called vintage case. It's available on most Yamaha uh keyboards.
I've It's been there since I had the MOXF8.
So, it's I think it think it's probably on even the Motif series as well. So, any Yamaha should have it. It's a good sound. It's my favorite. I listen to all of them. There's a lot of different road sounds, but for whatever reason, I like the way this one sounds, right?
Affirmation. That's a good one.
Well, let's see. What time is it? Got a little bit more time here.
Oh, somebody said, okay, sorry. The Mystic Brew, Ronnie Foster.
Let me check it.
Mystic Brew.
Let's check it out. Huh?
>> I don't know it, but maybe.
Oh, you know what this is, man. Shoot.
Now, this is not the same, but this is the sample. This is the um I'm playing the the tribe called Quest sample version of it.
Check it out. You're mesmerized. All right.
Electric relaxation is the name of the So, I guess yeah, I kind of do know the intro to Mystic Brew, don't I? But I know it in a different key. I think it's uh transposed. Yeah, exactly. Uhhuh.
Yeah, that's a good one.
Cool.
I'm trying to reme think see if I can remember any other tribe stuff.
And then what was it?
Oh, yeah. Okay.
I can't remember that that change part, but well, any further questions, requests?
Dennis Williams, because you love me.
Let's check it out.
Cuz you love me, baby.
Let's check it out.
That's kind of cool.
Okay. I think it's kind of just this vibe.
to the five.
One, five.
to the two to the five. Is that the bridge?
One, five.
Not sure what the pattern there is. It goes on the four.
to the five.
It's like going from the one to the five to the but then I'm not sure it kind of randomly feels random but sure there's a pattern to it. It's like it's going to the one to five and then sometimes it goes to the two and it goes to the four that usually goes to the five after this. Yeah.
I don't know when any of the changes are coming.
But I'd have to like listen to it more to figure out what the pattern, but it's it's a lot of this.
All right. E flat to this A flat over B flat.
And then sometime goes to the four to the five one one five. Then sometimes it was like randomly going to the two and then sometimes it was like it was going from one to six sometimes too. I'm not sure what the what the uh pattern there is. It's during the verse or something else.
Sometimes those older songs, it's hard for me to tell like, oh, what's the what's the pattern?
Bobby WAC. So many sides.
Let's check it out.
So many sides of you.
So that's your intro right there.
I think that's your intro.
No, no, no.
must be.
Am I hearing that? Let's see.
Can't tell.
Something like that.
Oh, I think that is what it is.
Okay. Anyways, that's just the intro.
It's kind of like vamping on this, but Something like that.
Okay, we'll move on from that for now.
Rough ends. Someone to love you, huh?
Let's check that out.
Rough ends. Rough ends. Someone to love you.
Uh, okay. Something different there.
Hold up. Hold up. Rewind.
Something different.
That's hit.
That's pretty cool. So, it's kind of this, right?
And then once in a while, Dennis Williams cuz you love me, baby.
Okay, hold on. Let me I kind of want to mess with this for a minute.
When does it go to that?
Okay. So, it's first pass normal.
Second pass normal. Let's see the third pass.
That's when it goes to the flat seven, third pass.
And then it goes to the five on the fourth pass.
Okay, there you go. Someone to love you.
Okay. Dennis Williams. Cuz you love me, baby.
Was I playing that already?
Did I pull that up?
Yeah. What? Okay. Wait, let me listen to it again.
Oh, yeah. I was playing this. It was like It's kind of is one of these where it just kind of goes one to five.
Wait, what audio is low? The is it the keyboard or are you talking about the uh audio from the from the music?
Because the audio from the music I have to keep it low otherwise I get hit with a copyright claim.
And really if you're hearing it it's because it's coming out of my headphones into the computer microphone.
But level. Yeah, but which level?
Remind me. Okay. Eley Brothers Between the Sheets. Do they use the same chords?
I don't think so. Oh, so my playing is low.
It might be the these piano sounds are kind of cheesy on this. Not cheesy, but they don't cut through the mix very well.
So maybe that'll help.
Now I feel like it's cut through.
Okay. You remind me.
You remind me by Patrice Russian.
So, I've listened to this before.
the weird thing about it.
Wait, what is it?
Sorry.
The weird thing about it is like um usually this will become a dominant chord, right?
But I think and I might be tripping, but when I listen to this before, it turns into a major 7.
Does that sound right or am I tripping?
Keep listening to it.
Does that sound right?
So basically the chords from I think most of that song D minor 9 uh sorry D minor 9 G over A I guess maybe E minor over Okay. And then A major 7.
Kind of weird. Like I said, normally that would go to like a dominant chord or regular major, but I think it goes to a major 7 there.
Um, and then between the sheets.
Oh, I guess they I was thinking um, Footsteps in the Dark for some reason. I guess those chords between the sheets.
They're quite different. I would say those chords, >> right?
Between the sheets is a banger. Um, hobo hobog globotrin.
We We will see about that. That's a crazy one, but I don't know. I've never heard that. Hob gloin.
Ben.
No, dog. I got to type that one in.
Right. Okay.
Oh, it sounds kind of nice. What is this?
Oh.
Oh.
Wasn't this Am I thinking of a Snoop Dogg song?
But um but um Does that sound right? Uh, the bronze badger.
I don't know this part though. This is like classical.
I think uh Oh, cash app. Absolutely.
Hold on now.
Let me throw that in the chat.
I might as well. Huh? Let's see. What is it?
Okay, this is my cash app. Better type this in real quick.
For all those who want to financially support the channel, all contributions, large and small, are appreciated.
Bam.
Um, I think that's what it is. There's a Snoop Dogg song I think that samples this.
That's cool.
Yeah. So, I think that's the it's just a riff kind of most of the song. The other part I'd have to sound something kind of funny.
Oh, no. Not R. Kelly. We'll see. We'll see if we can get to that. Let me see what what was the other one. Heatwave mind-blowing decisions. Let's see about that first.
Heatwave mindblowing decisions.
This could be cool.
Mute R. Kelly.
What is it?
This almost reminds me of that last one we did.
Um, what was the name of that?
I can't remember. But This isn't too bad.
Yeah.
Oh, here comes the change.
Okay. Okay. I'm not sure how that change ends, but okay.
It's kind of just this most of the song.
And there's a change.
4 3 2 5 1 6 2 That's kind of cool.
5 1 6 Sorry. And then 2 3 4 five. But it's like a weird flat.
Back to the one.
Alrighty.
Well, I think that might be all we have time for today, but I will be back next week. I'll be back next week, 1:00 pm on Thursday.
Um, one o'clock PM Pacific time, 4 o'clock Eastern time. So, put it on your calendar.
Tap in. Tune in. I'll be here. Actually, I better look at my calendar. Yeah, I'll be I'll be back May 14th, uh, 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. So, thank you all for tuning in. I hope you had a good time.
Um, and yeah, I'll catch you on the next one. Thanks everybody.
