The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation marked World Environment Day in Galifford today by announcing a series of conservation and sustainable development initiatives. The organization signed new grant agreements to support red panda tourism and elephant habitat enhancement in Galiful Mindfulness City. The event also highlighted investments in wildlife conservation, ecourism and Bhutan's emerging green construction industry.
Strengthening conservation through partnerships was at the center of today's program in Galipur. BGFC signed a grant agreement with South Africa based international company and bayant to support the rate panda conservation project in Tgola. Through the partnership, approximately $50,000 US will be mobilized to help promote red spandabased tourism and conservation efforts in the country. Another grant agreement was signed between BTFC and the Galipu Mindfulness City Authority worth 2.5 million utum for the enhancement of elephant habitat project aimed at improving habitats and movement corridors for elephants in the southern region to support human wildlife conflict management and conservation monitoring. BTFEC also handed over CCTV cameras to the Serpunk Divisional Forest Office for tracking elephant movements.
Today we have been able to support projects that are important not only for Bhutan but can also inspire the wider world. While many people thank the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation, it is our monarchs whom we should be thanking for providing their vision and leadership that makes such initiatives possible.
One of the presentations came from Bhutan Shinghzo Limited, a private company developing regenerative engineered timber systems and sustainable green construction solutions. The company is expected to supply engineered timber for major projects including the upcoming Galipur International Airport. BTFEC has committed 78.7 million to support the facto's groundwork and preparatory activities.
The company is currently procuring equipment, building technical teams, obtaining certifications, and preparing the site for operations. According to company officials, production is expected to begin in 2027.
The event also featured updates from Fipsu Wildlife Sanctuary and Royal Manas National Park, both recipients of BTFEC support. The funding is being used to improve ranger facilities, strengthen conservation infrastructure, secure wildlife corridors and access ecourism opportunities in Pipsu wildlife sanctuary and Royal Manas National Park for endangered species, migrating elephants and the forests. they depend on. The support announced today represents more than just funding. It is an investment in the long-term protection of Bhutan's rich biodiversity.

>> As the National Council deliberated on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee of the House proposed to replace the term reservations with declarations. The National Assembly adopted the convention with three reservations last session and then forwarded it to the National Council.
Bhutan rectified the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities during the previous government term with four reservations.
These reservations were submitted to the United Nations in 2024.
Subsequently 11 countries objected to the reservations made by Batan.
Following that, the National Assembly revised its stance on the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities by amending three reservations and fully withdrawing one during the last session.
The three reservations include liberty of movement and nationality, work and employment and participation in political and public life. However, in a national council, as the social and cultural affairs committee recommended to change the term reservations to declarations, MPs raised concerns that reservations and declarations are not the same and should be clearly distinguished.

This bus of honeybee is an essential sound of spring and summer.
Into the garden, she menders through flowers and winds onto plants and trees.
This hardworking social insect is very crucial for our food supply and human livelihood.
As the pollinators keep roving, agriculture pursuits for better harvest.
Even the fruit like papayas, pumpkins, cucumbers, apples, oranges, strawberries, vegetables, and animal fer like clover depends on bees. Bees know how to handle the environmental conditions that take place inside our garden. Without pollinators, our planet would one day trigger a larger crisis than global warming.
Around the world, the scientists who study about bees have already warned that numbers of bees in the world is declining each year because of human threats mainly through loss of habitat.
Bees like any other pollinators forage for food.
Meadows like this provide them plentiful supplies of nectar and pollen from wild flowers.
But this middle is slowly becoming a rear sight in the countryides as the development taking place.
Even with the growing population and the price of serial crops increasing, more and more areas of land use will lead to monoculture farming where only a single crop is grown.
Bees usually don't feed on this food crop and eventually die from starvation.
On the other hand, devoid of this tiny insect looking for flowers, many horiculturist will suffer from less fruiting.
The fruit plants will not produce fruit suitably without the help of pollinators.
Bees are vital even for the biod diversity and balanced ecosystem.
And if these pollinators are not there, there will be fewer use of crops. As the bee goes around the flower collecting nectars, uh the pollons on the bees from one flower to another flower get absorbed on sticky part of the flowers.
Pollination is very crucial in the sexual reproductions of flowering plants. uh it is the only one way that male sex shield inside the pollen is brought to the female sexual. In this way bees are very important for our entire agriculture produce.
>> It is the reality that the people have to take care of bees to ensure sustainability of bees population in our surroundings. Human being must establish measures to ensure pack between flowers and pollinators to stay intact.
If we don't do that, the pollination process may collapse.
Food supply will shrink and the world hunger will continue to mold.
When we talk about bees and its value for humankind, the farmers in southern Bhutan seem to be very much aware of this social insect from the time memorial.
Although they lack scientific evidence and approach, beekeeping is one of the legacies amongst people in southern Bhutan.
The most unique bee rear by the farmers in the south is trigona species of bees which is locally known as putka in the dialect.
This species of bees is commonly seen in villages of southern regions but it will be available in some parts of the eastern Bhutan.
>> These kinds of sting be are there in some parts of eastern Bhutan. People in eastern Bhutan do not understand whether these bees will produce honey or not. If they have the idea about these bees, I hope they will definitely rare for good purpose. It's very easy to rare. The only task that the farmer needs to perform is to provide them a simple hive.
>> Pkas are stingless and harmless species of bees. Usually come in two colors, black and yellow. The yellowish bees build a special entrance which looks like a tube unlike the black wand that distinguishes them.
The senior research assistant Mr. Game Tle while making a tour to several villages made a detailed study on the ancient method of keeping the stingless bees.
>> He said that the method they used to harvest honey is very rude.
>> This method is very old and improper.
Thereby the Ardina research is looking for possibility to improve this hype by introducing the new system that is improve hype system. I'm still on the line to make the research about it and characteristics of this stingless beast.
>> Putkas are not only stingless. Its honey is believed to have medicinal values.
The honey from the stingless bees helps children suffering from illness like pneumonia, cough and wounds inside stomach. Its honey fetches a very good price if sold.
Comparing the honeybees honey, some farmers sell at the cost of new 2,000 per liter and some sell it at cost of new 1,000 per liter. It takes longer time to produce honey comparing to common honey bees.
Unlike stingless bees, episina locally known as honeybee is also commonly reared by the farmers in Sarbang Zonga.
>> A farmer like Manila Ry started to rear honey bees when he was 15.
Now Malal is bold to open his beehive to see that what his honeybees are doing inside the hive.
To home his honeybees, he normally use a piece of man-made wooden hollow log. And such beehive is used by many beekeepers to get a supply of honey in the past.
I still remember the days when my father used to teach me how to handle honey bees in this kind of wooden holo. Today, most of our beekeepers here in Sankara village tried to shift for modern method of beekeeping. As a result, traditional way of beekeeping like this is disappearing. Only those farmers who do not know how to handle modern means of beekeeping use this kind of old method to rear honey bees.
>> Mr. game till normally visits the beekeepers in Jimmy Cholingo. He went around several villages in the south central regions like Dana, Sirang and Sarpang to make out how farmers rear honeybees.
As he travels across villages in the south central parts of Patan, he found out a similar kind of beekeeping method inspired by the forefathers.
local. This is one of the domesticated local honey bees known as epicerena.
Generally found in southern central village of Bhutan. Before research gave training for the farmers on improved methods of beekeeping, they have been using this method to home honey bees.
Not only that, they also keep honey bees on walls as well as in the boxes and loives.
This longestablished method of beekeeping according to Gimle is one of the age-old trends that in fact serve them as a momentum towards preserving bees.
However, this he said is not a standard method of beekeeping scientifically because it entails lots of problems and difficulties especially when it comes to monitoring the honeybees inside their hives.
In this kind of beehive, firstly the beekeepers will face serious of difficulties. Beekeepers needs to monitor their honeybees regularly in order to check the populations of bees.
How do honey bees work? And what is the amount of honey accumulated inside the honeycomb? If they keep honey bees in the hives made out of hollow rocks, honey bees will cover everything and cannot handle it properly. Moreover, when they extract honey, they remove whole things out and the honeycombs are squeezed by hands to take out the honey which is also unhygienic.
Knowing the facts and disadvantages, the RNR research had introduced an improved method of beekeeping that provides beekeepers an easy handling, convenience while monitoring and proper harvesting standard without causing much damage to honeybees.
The RNA research encourage those interested beekeepers to use modern ways of beekeeping by providing training and educations on modern beekeeping. The new methods of beekeeping introduced to our local beekeepers is very convenient and easy to get into the work of honeybees.
In fact, I can show you how these modern methods of beekeeping works comparing to the traditional methods of beekeeping and make out what is all about modern methods of beekeeping in Sara village.
In this beautiful valley of Jimmy Choling, honeybees are in plenty busy collecting nectars and pollinating flowers.
Most of the farmers here rear honeybees for its medicinal values, pollination and cash for the family livelihood.
After the inception of Samara Sipjam Gongfelpa in 2006, many beekeepers in Samara village further encourages to improve their life more lively and comfortably by keeping honeybees in their farm.
Welcome to Honey Valley. Why don't you become a good beekeeper and make your living comfortable by starting a beekeeping business in your farm?
Getting started in a beekeeping business is very simple. A basic thing that you need to keep in your mind is how to handle honeybees. Game Tle who has been dealing with honey bees will explain you a few techniques of modern beekeeping.
He will also show you some ways to handle and monitor honeybees to make yourself a better person to get into a beekeeping business.
Kim Tle accepts beekeeping activity as a wonderful profession.
It is really amazing and opportunity to experience his real life and to save our planet earth in a small way.
The beekeepers in Sankara too loves honey bees and they treated honeybees as valuable insect.
They are now realized to keep their honeybees in a serene artificial hive.
This artificial beehive serves them two purposes. Production of honey and pollination of nearby crops.
Uh this is the box or movable beehives which we have introduced recently. Along with this beehive we need to place the stand like this to keep the box upright.
Then uh you have to put down the bottom board and create an entrance for honeybees to move it in and out. This bottom box is known as a brute box. In this boot box you can see thousands of workers, hundreds of drones and a queen.
On the top of bottom box, you can also add super where the honey bees used to store honey and pollen for their food.
When this super box is filled completely, then you can add another second super box on this and cover it.
Top covers.
Such an enclosed structure of beehive is a man-made beehive often kept in a proper beyard. Sometimes this beehive is easily transported to another beyard so that bees can pollinate crops in other areas.
Therefore, the hive is designed in such a way that provides basic advantages to work comfortably with honeybees.
You cannot see this type of frames in the bee has made of wooden color logs.
Whereas in modern methods, we have eight frames like this in each box. In presence of these frames, beekeepers can easily check the general health of beehive, boo, how bee performs their work over time and the amount of honey collected inside the honeycombs. For instance, I hold a frame of honeycombs in my hand. Here you can see two types of color. The one which is brownish in color signifies a mature part of honeycombs and the vellish part of honeycomb is the one which they recently built.
Likewise, what you can see here is a pollen in other part attached to the cell that looks like a tiny grain of rice are all eggs. Very soon these eggs will hatch into a tiny glove and the lar stage of honey bees.
In a sunny day in Batas village, we came across a prominent beekeeper.
He is busy cleaning beehives without resist looking at each side of every frame in the hive.
It looks unsafe surrounded by numbers of honeybees. But this particular vision instincts me to ask the question to game delay if there is any trick to handle honey bees like this.
Most of our people fear to handle honey bees but there's nothing to scare about it. Honey bees will not sting if you don't get panic. When you handle honey bees you should not stand in front of the entrance. If you happen to stand in front of the entrance there is very chance to get st. Instead, you should always remember to carry walk out by the side of the hives so that in and out movement of honey bees will not be disturbed.
Honey bees that live in artificial hives or colonies are not generally aggressive, but they become aggressive if we threaten them.
Therefore, beekeepers sometimes use bee smoker to cover up pherommones that might result from walking in the hive.
Uh if uh the string of honey bees get pumped into your body then you should not rough it roughly. What you need to need to do is uh to remove it like this with your fingers fingernail or with the help of knife so that you won't get salt. I got stung just few seconds before and that's why she's stinging me again.
>> Epiculture.
Epiculture means a scientific method of rearing insects that can produce honey and wax. After all, what beekeepers want is honey. But how do they extract honey?
For some car sibjam gungfield sobba they use this kind of honey extraction machine to extract honey in a hygienic manner.
>> This is a honey extraction machine. This machines have several chamber to place honeycomb separately like this. After removing the entire honey cap, this machine can adjust eight frames of honeycomb. After putting all the frames of honeycomb to the machines separately, you have to spin each machine like this.
uh by the pressure of very first spinning honey will dip down into the machines and fill it. Once you have finished extracting all the honeys you can put it put the honey back into the same hive as usual. Then we place filter and open up this tab to let honey flow into the container 500 ml bottle roser.
After that, the collected honey is then packaged into several 500ml bottles and labels it as pure and natural local honey.
120 14 Samarasa at present consisted of 120 households in five different villages. In each household, there are about 5 to 30 beehives. And this group of beekeepers sold around 1,500 kilograms of honey last year.
And this method of beekeeping is very easy and convenient for us. We give us cash to buy some needy item for my family.
I am very happy to be a well-known beekeeper since I know how to handle it properly and this method of beekeeping is very easy and these give us cash to buy some needy item for my family.
London.
Today a group of beekeepers in Sankara works very hard to keep the beekeeping business growing successfully and they are lucky to have a research person like game.
Whenever the group faces some problems, game timely visits them to render services and monitors them instantly.
Reason why I came here today to meet you is whether you your beekeeping works is going well or not.
We are doing fine and showing progress in each year.
Even the beekeepers are now looking for advanced means to upgrade their business and everybody is working hard.
I hope we will have very good harvest by the end of November and December.
Of course, this year we experienced very bad weather during summer season. We could not keep honey in stock, but I have full hope that uh the product will be better in coming months.
You said you had a problem or bad weather this year. You mean honey bees left this place or died because of bad weather?
Some honeybees are migrated to other places. Suppose if I have 15 hives about two to three heavy hives remained empty.
What I noticed so far is honey bees tend to migrate because of unsuitable weather and food during weight and humid seasons. But I didn't see any dead cases of honeybees. This is China. Are you sure this is not uh because of disease?
>> Like teacher like student.
The chairman of Samara Sip Jam Gumil Sukpa Manilal Ray to cares for honeybees. He listens to what his coach said and he always makes use of his knowledge given by his trainer. When the sun rays penetrate towards his bey yard, early morning he makes a visit to his bey yard and start taking care of his honeybees by maintaining well hygienic beehives.
>> Given the guidance and training by Arina research, he gained confidence to deal with honeybees and Manilal is even known as master of honeybees by his friends.
He identifies his honeybees.
Sir, sir, this Beekeeping is very interesting and if you take it, it is a part of your life.
>> You may have never even considered a bee except for the fact that they sting. But bees especially the honey bees have very important jobs. If you happen to love honey, you can appreciate bees for that.
Without bees and pollination, we would not have enough foods we eat today.
Conserve bees. Bees will definitely conserve your purpose. No bee equals no fruit and no honey.

into the garden. She menders through flowers and wins onto plants and trees.
This hardworking social insect is very crucial for our food supply and human livelihood.
As the pollinators keep roving, agriculture pursuits for better harvest.
Even the fruit like papayas, pumpkins, cucumbers, apples, oranges, strawberries, vegetables, and animal foder like clover depends on bees.
On the other hand, devoid of this tiny insect looking for flowers, many horiculturists will suffer from less fruiting.
>> These kinds of stings be are there in some parts of eastern Bhutan.
The honey from these stingless bees helps children suffering from illness like pneumonia, cough and wounds inside stomach.
>> A farmer like Manila Ry started to rear honeybees when he was 15.
>> Mr. The game till not only visits the beekeepers in Jimmy Cholingo. He went around several villages in the south central regions like the Ghana Sang and Sarpang to make out how farmers rear honeybees.
As he travels across villages in the south central parts of Patan, he found out a similar kind of beekeeping method inspired by the forefathers.
local. This is one of the domesticated local honey bees known as episa.
Generally found in southern central village of Bhutan. Before ara research gave training for the farmers on improved methods of beekeeping. They have been using this methods to home honey bees. Not only that they also keep honey bees on walls as well as in the boxes and loives.
In this kind of beehive firstly the beekeepers will face serious of difficulties. Beekeepers needs to monitor their honeybees regularly in order to check the populations of bees.
How do honey bees work and what is the amount of honey accumulated inside the honeycomb?
In fact, I can show you how this modern methods of beekeeping works comparing to the traditional methods of beekeeping and make out what is all about modern methods of beekeeping in Sankara village.
In this beautiful valley of Chimich Choling, honeybees are in plenty busy collecting nectars and pollinating flowers.
Most of the farmers here rear honeybees for its medicinal values, pollination and cash for the family livelihood.
After the inception of Samara's sip jam gongfelpa in 2006, many beekeepers in Sankara village further encourages to improve their life more lively and comfortably by keeping honeybees in their farm.
Welcome to Honey Valley. Why don't you become a good beekeeper and make your living comfortable by starting a beekeeping business in your farm?
Getting started in a beekeeping business is very simple. A basic thing that you need to keep in your mind is how to handle honeybees. Game Tle who has been dealing with honeybees will explain you a few techniques of modern beekeeping.
He will also show you some ways to handle and monitor honeybees to make yourself a better person to get into a beekeeping business.
Kim Tle accepts beekeeping activity as a wonderful profession.
It is really amazing and opportunity to experience his real life and to save our planet earth in a small way.
The beekeepers in Saratu loves honeybees and they treated honey bees as valuable insect.
In this brute box you can see thousands of workers, hundreds of drones and a queen.
On the top of bottom box, you can also add super where the honey bees used to store honey and pollen for their food.
When this super box is filled completely, then you can add another second super box on this and cover it top covers.
Such an enclosed structure of beehive is a man-made beehive often kept in the proper beyard. Sometimes this beehive is easily transported to another beyard so that bees can pollinate crops in other areas.
Therefore, the hive is designed in such a way that provides basic advantages to work comfortably with honeybees.
You cannot see this type of frames in the beehives made of wooden hollow logs.
Whereas in modern methods, we have eight frames like this in each box. In presence of these frames, beekeepers can easily check the general health of beehive, boo population, how bee performs their work over time and the amount of honey collected inside the honeycombs.
Very soon these eggs will hatch into a tiny g and the lar stage of honey bees.
In a sunny day in Batas village, we came across a prominent beekeeper.
He is busy cleaning beehives without resist looking at each side of every frame in the hive.
It looks unsafe surrounded by numbers of honeybees. But this particular vision instincts me to ask the question to game to lake if there is any trick to handle honey bees like this.
Most of our people fear to handle honey bees but there's nothing to scare about it. Honey bees will not sting if you don't get panic. When you handle honey bees, you should not stand in front of the entrance. If you happen to stand in front of the entrance, there is very chance to get st. Instead, you should always remember to carry a walk out by the side of the hives so that in and out movement of honey bees will not be disturbed.
Honey bees that live in artificial hives or colonies are not generally aggressive, but they become aggressive if we threaten them.
Therefore, beekeepers sometimes use bee smoker to cover up pherommones that might result from working in the hive.
Uh if uh the sting of honey bees get pump into your body, then you should not rough it roughly. What you need need to do is uh to remove it like this with your fingers fingernail or with help of knife so that you won't get so I got stung just few seconds before and that's why she's stinging me again.
>> Epiculture.
Epiculture means a scientific method of rearing insects that can produce honey and wax. After all, what beekeepers want is honey. But how do they extract honey?
For some cars sjam gongfield sobba they use this kind of honey extraction machine to extract honey in a hygienic manner.
Once you have finished extracting all the honeys, you can put it put the honey back into the same hive as usual. Then we place filter and open up the tab to let honey flow into the container.
500 m mlco bottle roser.
>> After that, the collected honey is then packaged into several 500ml bottles and labels it as pure and natural local honey.
147 subjam at present consisted of 120 households in five different villages. In each household, there are about 5 to 30 beehives. And this group of beekeepers sold around 1,500 kg of honey last year.
And this method of beekeeping is very easy and convenient for us. We give us cash to buy some needy item for my family.
I am very happy to be a well-known beekeeper since I know how to handle it properly and this method of beekeeping is very easy and these give us cash to buy some needy item for my family.
Today a group of beekeepers in Sankara works very hard to keep the beekeeping business growing successfully and they are lucky to have a research person like game.
Whenever the group faces some problems game timely visits them to render services and monitors them instantly.
Uh reason why I came here today to meet you is whether you your beekeeping works is going well or not.
We are doing fine and showing progress in each year.
Even the beekeepers are now looking for advanced means to upgrade their business and everybody is working hard.
I hope we will have very good harvest by the end of November and December.
Of course, this year we experience very bad weather during summer season. We could not keep honey in stock, but I have full hope that uh the product will be better in coming months.
You said you had a problem of bad weather this year. You mean honey bees left this place or died because of bad weather?
Some honey bees are migrated to other places. Suppose if I have 15 hives about two to three heavy hives remained empty.
What I noticed so far is honey bees tend to migrate because of unsuitable weather and food during weight and humid seasons. But I didn't see any dead cases of honey bees this are you sure this not because of disease >> like teacher like student the chairman of Samaras Sip Jam Gongil Sopa Manilal Ry to cares for honeybees he listens to what his coach said and he always makes use of his knowledge given by his trainer. When the sun rays penetrate towards his bey yard, early morning he makes a visit to his bey yard and start taking care of his honeybees by maintaining well hygienic behives.
Given the guidance and training by Arina research, he gained confidence to deal with honeybees and Manilal is even known as master of honeybees by his friends.
He identifies his honeybees.
Sir, pound siri.
Beekeeping is very interesting and if you take it, it is a part of your life.
