How do we prepare clients for depositions?

[00:00:00]How do we prepare clients for deposition? The answer to that really depends on how far along they are, how much knowledge they have of their case and any issues that we need to address.

[00:00:12]So there are cases where a person has pre-existing issues or they have some subsequent issue or something else that contributes to why the case hasn't settled. In situations where a client has previous injuries or some subsequent incidents that we have to look at, we spend a little bit more time with them directing them, helping guide them. What we do for depositions [music] is I'll write out actual questions that I anticipate the defense will ask and then I will go through the deposition with a client, ask those specific questions, see how they respond, and then fine-tune those responses to make [music] sure that the information that they're providing is accurate and thorough. And so we'll go through the whole list of potential questions. We'll separate it by category. And whenever there's an issue, we'll address it at that time. [music] In rare situations, I'll schedule a deposition with another member of the firm [music] and I'll say that it's the actual deposition. So, the client sits there and answers [music] questions to another attorney thinking it's the defense attorney, but really it's a way of getting the client [music] comfortable with depositions with answering questions. At the end of it, we'll we'll prepare the the client by providing a copy of the video and kind of any issues that we identified during the deposition.
