The video captures the fascinating American paradox where radical hospitality and mechanical endurance coexist with a pervasive culture of self-defense. It effectively illustrates how vast geography reshapes a society's threshold for both trust and longevity.

Brit Reacts to America is not what I expected…Added:
America is not what I expected. Very curious to see what we got with this.
Before we do get into it, appreciate if you guys can subscribe button. Yeah, let's see what we got.
>> America is not what I thought it would be.
>> As a European living in the US, there's so many things here that surprise me every day. But so far, I've only been in California, and people tell me that's not even the real America. Right.
>> So, I bought the cheapest car I could find and decided to drive across the country to see for myself what the US really is like >> across the whole country. That's a that's a long distance.
>> And boy, was I in for a ride.
>> Advice for me. The southern states.
>> Anywhere you go, you just got to be mindful of your surroundings, but you should just be very aware that people own guns.
>> I would bring like a pocketk knife or something.
>> What do you think about sleeping in the car at randoms?
>> Uh, >> wait. I hear about like that's a very like common thing to do. I was watching vloggers the other week and they was they chose to sleep in their car and just drive around.
>> I wouldn't sleep in your car. That seems dangerous.
terrified.
>> No one will.
>> Don't get stuck in the panhandle. All these like signs are like no gas for 75 miles. Like there's nothing.
>> I just hope that the car is going to be fine too if I'm like in the middle of nowhere if that's something.
>> Calla is good.
>> Triple A.
>> Wait. Oh, I didn't realize that A was in America as well. That's very very very popular in the UK.
>> Break down.
Guess it's the last we hear from Noah.
>> Poor Noah.
He's asked his friends or other Americans around him and he's he's going to drive off T. He's going to be scared.
>> So, the journey began. But let me tell you a bit about what I'm working with here.
>> I just bought this 25-year-old car.
>> What a beauty.
>> It's pretty old. It has a 183,000 mi doing a road trip to Louisiana.
>> Wait, this is something that I learned in the car video in America as well. 183 miles,000 miles in the UK, the car is on its way out. Like I would not trust that car going across the whole of America, right? But then I hear about in America like you guys your mileage can go into the hundreds of hundreds of hundreds of thousands and that's like fine. Oh wow.
>> Back.
>> That's a long ways.
>> A long way.
>> It's going to be long. It's going to be It's going to be hot.
>> Very hot.
>> 106°.
>> Camera's overheating again.
>> Treat your car well.
>> 41° C in the car. Oh my. I I hope that car has air conditioning >> because it's not It's not a young man anymore, right? Old lady.
>> There we go.
>> Decompress or maybe a tequila at the end of the day. But after getting it checked by Lonnie the mechanic, I felt pretty good for now.
>> I don't know anyone in this country. I don't have any family here. If I sleep in the car, hopefully he's going to break in the window and like snatch my thing.
>> I don't know if I want to sleep here.
Oh, >> someone's getting arrested. This is all happening.
>> Explore the country and see where the road takes me for good or for bad.
>> I don't have any water right now, so I'm going to go in here in Love's travel shop.
>> That's a smart idea. You've been warned.
is going to be very very very hot. Is very smart to get a drink.
>> Where are you going?
>> I want to go to Louisiana.
>> Have fun. Be safe.
>> Let's take a look at what we have. 7 days worth of clothes. A sleeping bag.
One, two, three gallons of water. That should keep me alive. Toothpaste, a battery operated fan, a jump start kit.
If my >> You might need a bigger fan. I'm not going to lie. You might like like bro, it's going to be 41° C, man. 10 105 Fahrenheit. You might need a couple of them.
>> Battery dies. Package of protein bars.
One thing that I completely forgot is I don't have a driver's license. I have a German driver's license. It's only valid up until 6 months living in this country. I'm not technically legally allowed to drive US Border Patrol.
>> So, I kept driving without a license until >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
What? Wait. Yo, is this guy Is he crazy?
You're going across America, right?
Without a li. Oh, I hope he don't get stopped.
I made my first sub at what my friends told me is referred to as the armpits of California. I have made it to Bakersfield, California. I just stopped at the parking lot of our Dollar Tree.
I've never been inside a Dollar Tree, so I just wanted to check it out. Maybe I'll find something cool that I could use for the road. It looks a bit sketchy, but we'll see. Kind of dirty, but the people seem nice here.
>> They're probably nice.
>> Me and my boys on Sunday, we always go out to eat.
>> Okay. Okay. Is there something you can recommend?
>> Texas Roadhouse.
>> Oh, Texas Road.
>> Texas Roadhouse.
>> I've seen videos on Texas Roadhouse. It is good.
>> It does look good.
>> I still had a long way to go. I thought make it across the country in seven days to get back to work on time. And after hours of driving, I was so tired, but I had no idea where to spend.
>> Wait, how long would it actually take to get from one side of America to the other side? What can you do that? 7 days of like how many hours would you have to drive a day for 7 days and the night?
>> I found a motel palm in somewhere in the middle between California and Nevada.
So, I'm just going to go in and see if they have some rooms for me. I'm not going to lie, because of like the movies and the TV shows, I would be freaked out about staying in motel. I would probably, if I was to do something like this, I would definitely have to like let you guys know and you guys tell me, am I good to do so?
>> Okay, it's not closed.
>> I 24/7.
>> How are you doing? Do you have rooms available for tonight? Ju just one room.
And luckily, the owner was really friendly and had a bed for me to rest for the night. But I kid you not, as soon as I walked out to the room, I noticed something weird on my car.
>> Oh, what?
>> My godamn number plates fell off.
>> How did this happen?
>> He needs a screw.
>> I found a room. The front light.
>> Oh, you know what? It actually looks It don't look too bad. He's got an AC. It It's a lot better than I thought a motel room was going to look. just played on my car fell off. Screws fell off. So, I'll have to get that fixed tomorrow.
But yeah, first night.
>> Good night.
>> Not bad. Clean sheets.
>> Bro, you go to some places in the UK, like nice hotels, and the sheets aren't clean. Like, it it can be disgusting sometimes.
Probably the same in some places in America, right? I see it.
>> Did you see it?
>> One of them fell off. Uh, one quarter and I bought to lay out my Home Depot.
>> Get this mold from Home Depot. I'll do the fitting. I have pliers.
>> I always find it so interesting how diverse America is cuz I always forget.
Oh god, the water just went down the wrong hole. Oh, this right hole. But maybe But like I always forget how like diverse it is and like there's people in America that don't speak English, right?
Like, yeah, that interests me.
>> I just spoke to the owner of the he told me there's a Home Depot right here where I can go and get a bowl.
>> Cuz before I started these videos, I just assumed like everybody in America spoke English >> and he said he's going to fix it for me.
So, yeah, a really nice guy.
>> Carl's Hardware store.
>> What part of Germany?
>> Really?
>> I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
>> Cool. 12 years.
>> That's where I'm going to pass through.
>> Used to be a real nice, beautiful little city there.
>> Okay. It's gone to heck. Homeless, drugs, just terrible. I wouldn't spend too much time.
>> Oh my god, this guy. He He's going from, you know, across America. Everyone he's talking to, he's being like, "We was this guy doing this trip. I I would I'd have to get a friend to come along."
>> Great. And that's where I was headed next.
>> Wow. Thank you.
>> What a nice guy.
>> It's just you you by yourself here.
Why don't people want to say bye-bye?
>> No.
>> All right.
>> Bless.
>> And after the license plate was back on the car, I was ready to put some miles on again. Whole lot of nothingness.
>> But the hardest part was still ahead of me.
>> I am so [ __ ] tired. It's really hard >> just um driving. I wish I had a Tesla right now where there's autopilot and I would just have to tap it just like >> Hey buddy, buddy, buddy, buddy. Going from one side of America to the other, you would not want a Tesla. I'm telling you right now, you would have to stop off so much to charge it and you got to wait for the charge. Oh, that would be a nightmare going from across the country.
>> Take a nap. I'm like so dead.
>> The heat was really getting to me.
>> Look how long that is. still had a long way to go.
>> But I get what you're saying with the auto drive. That would be nice.
>> Yo, don't eventually I made it to my first state.
It is hot in Arizona. God damn.
>> Hey, hey, hey. You ain't got a license, bro. Don't be suspicious.
>> To sleep tonight, I will look for a camping ground and then hopefully tonight I can sleep in the car.
hut.
>> You see that sweat?
>> I just realized that there's a Walmart right around the corner. And my friend told me that at Walmart, you're allowed to sleep over for one night at their parking lot. So, I think I'm going to go check it out. This is the >> Oh, what? That's actually JV. Like, you're genuinely allowed. So, like in Walmart car parks, you are okay to be sleeping in there overnight. Oh, wow.
That see that's handy. You just park up a Walmart. You want some snacks? Cuz Walmart's 24/7. You could you could just go when Oh, that's great.
>> Infamous Walmart parking lot.
>> It is definitely pretty busy. I don't know if I want to sleep here.
>> There's a bunch of interesting looking people here.
>> It's the people at Walmart. They're completely fine. I've seen a video of the people at Walmart. Hey, hey, look.
They might be wearing some They look like they're completely normal to be fair. Well, you know, wear normal clothes. I've seen some crazy crazy crazy looking um clothes in Walmart videos.
>> She drinking vodka. Is that a Is there a kid in that thing?
>> Oh, okay. I said that was completely normal.
Okay, I take that back. She's drinking vodka out the bar with the kid outside Walmart. I get interested and >> they look drunk as [ __ ] So, I continued looking for a safe place to sleep and eventually found this trailer parked by the highway.
>> All right, this is a spot for the night.
>> Okay. No, no, no. I'd rather be in Walmart car park. This is this this this is kind of scary. I'm not going to lie.
So dark.
>> Let's make this thing ready to sleep in.
After I parked, I put up the curtains I packed so that I at least have some sense of privacy.
>> Okay, >> this is my humble abode.
>> You got any cushions >> for the night? Pretty cozy, pretty comfortable. I'll see you in the morning.
I have >> Wait. Yo, he ain't got no cushion. He's just sleeping on a t-shirt. He's going to have such a bad back.
>> Officially survived the night. I heard some really weird noises in and around the car. So, I got out and I had a little nightly visitor.
>> And so, my journey continued throughout Arizona and I passed some of the most beautiful landmarks. It's been three days and he's he's a it's been three days and he's just in the next state.
How is he going to get across America in seven days?
>> Beautiful landmarks I'd ever seen.
>> Jeez.
>> I found a blue McDonald's.
>> I just drove past.
>> Oh, I've heard about this. Seen They have a McDonald's with a blue color tone. Sedona claimed that the original yellow McDonald's logo clashed with the city's red rockets.
>> Sedona is gorgeous.
>> Sedona is absolutely stunning.
>> So, they made it. They changed it to this like blue.
>> Beautiful.
>> Her dress matches the color and her headband, too. That's not bad.
>> Oh my god. I need to go. I need to go there in this shirt. Do you guys mind taking a photo of me in front of the sign? Yeah, with the mountains. Sure.
Yeah.
Yo, why is this so hard?
Yo, you will always get interesting photos when you ask someone to take a photo. Like, why is this so to be probably wanted to get the landscape in as well?
>> Inside. It looks pretty normal in there except for the fact that they have their own merch. But Arizona had a few more surprises for me.
>> Oh my god, I want Sedona McDonald's merch right now >> in there. Except for the fact that they >> do they Sedona McDonald's. Do they ship to the UK? They >> have their own merch. But Arizona had a few more surprises for me. World of Jerk.
>> Want to try ghost pepper together?
>> Yeah.
>> Is that good?
>> It's good. Yeah, >> that's good. Oh, wait. It's kicking in.
>> Yeah, I know.
>> Traveling through.
>> Yeah, that is good. I met these super nice travelers who gave me recommendations for my journey ahead.
>> Never in my life have I had a better vignet than New Orleans.
>> Mac and cheese. You've got your Oh my gosh. Color green.
>> I feel beautiful and sexy. I like I like how honest they are. Very like they will have your back.
>> So I just met China and Stevie. They gave me some really good tips. But they also they gave me their hotel card for the Hilton. They said I should go there and take a shower or hop Yo, I know Americans are super friendly, but they gave him their hotel card.
They gave him their hotel card.
Oh, that's just a different level of friendliness.
That is next level >> in the pool. Cuz I told him that I've been sitting a lot just being on the road.
>> And so that's what I did. That shower felt so good.
>> Oh my god. Hello.
>> Hello. German.
>> Hi. I just wanted to say thank you.
>> We're like, let's bug him and see if he really came here and swam.
>> Yeah. No, I did.
>> It was awesome to meet you. We love you so much. Um, welcome to America.
>> Oh my god, I absolutely love Americas, bro. Like, you guys are just different.
YOU'RE JUST DIFFERENT. THAT WOULD NEVER happen here ever.
>> It was amazing to meet such cool people, >> mate. Your friends wouldn't even give you that hotel. Well, maybe they will, but like, >> but unfortunately, I couldn't stay longer and had to move on with my journey. I've made it to annoy.
>> Yo, it's pretty much taken a whole entire day just to get to a new state.
He's never doing this in seven days unless he puts a rocket jet on this car.
Like where's he at? New Mexico now in four days. Three states if we wait Nevada this four states. So a state a day but Nevada that was like a very short cross >> longer and had to move on with my journey. I've made it to No, Mexico.
It's been an interesting drive. There's like a lot of casinos here. I'm about 10 minutes away from Albuquerque. So, I'm going to head there and then visit the Breaking Bad location.
>> Now, I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan, so I had to check out the house they filmed it at. The only thing is the lady living there isn't exactly thrilled about visitors and has a bit of a reputation online.
>> You [ __ ] >> Get out of your trash.
>> We're not Mexican.
>> YOU'RE A DUMB [ __ ] GET OUT OF HERE.
>> SO, I'm at >> Did she know that she was buying the Breaking Bad house? Like, I feel like that needs to be like come on the advertisement. like, "Oh, hey, you want to buy this house? It's also the Breaking Bad house. You might have a load of visitors."
Yo, I mean, >> the house right now.
>> Guess where I am.
>> Breaking Bad. No [ __ ] way.
>> That's cool, dog.
>> I know you love the show, bro.
>> That is cool.
>> I walked around for a bit, met some other tourists.
>> Amazing.
>> And then >> what? I've already called the cops.
You're stalking.
>> Oh, sorry.
>> No. Okay.
>> Oh my god. If I was her, I would just move. I'll just move because like it's literally the break a bad house. She's going to get people cuz Oh my That is so much stress.
>> And that's how I got kicked out of Albuquerque. But given what Carl from the hardware store told me it was better to leave before sunset anyways, right?
>> That literally scared me to death. Bro, why is there two people here? Why is there someone here and someone here?
Wait, they're not actual people, are they?
>> I just made it to someone here.
>> They're statues, right? They got to be statues.
>> What the [ __ ] >> I just made it to Roswell, New Mexico.
Apparently, in 1947, there has been a UFO crash right here in Roswell. There's a bunch of witnesses that said they saw the UFO crash. They also saw alien bodies. Sounds a little bit spooky. The whole city is sort of like alien and UFO vibes.
>> Duncan alien. To be honest, even to like today, we stare at the sky. We do see lights and I mean, >> this is Alienville. I like it.
>> See them and you're like, "Oh, hey, come here. Look, look, look." And by the time they they're gone, it's possible. So, >> and while I didn't see any alien life in Roswell, I did try this fast food place called Vin Schnitza, which doesn't even serve schnitza. So, I don't know why they call it that, but I tried a corn dog, which was definitely out of this world.
>> Oh, wow. Good.
>> I made it.
>> All right. So, day five. We're in Texas.
Oh, he's gonna have to speed up if he's going to get across.
>> Texas. I am a little bit concerned because I'm the only one here with California license plates. From what I've heard, people here don't love Californians. And even the Texas license plate itself looks kind of intimidating.
Nothing on there. Just like Texas.
California is like nice font like California. But so far, everyone's been friendly to me. I'm going to go. I find it so interesting how like American cars and license plates have their state names on there.
>> Finished the coffee and then hit the road. It's a tough life. It's a lonely road. And my first stop was to eat at a proper barbecue and try the brisket, which was really good.
>> You probably soccer.
>> Yeah, I do like soccer.
>> It was so funny to me that people actually wear cowboy hats here as normal clothing. So, of course, I also had to get one. And with my new attire, >> I can't wait to buy cowboy hat from Texas where I'm going to rock it with attire. Ready to hit the rodeo.
>> Frankfurt.
>> Frankfurt.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Right on.
>> Friend of Boston Heights.
>> Welcome, >> Noah.
>> Welcome to the USA.
>> I was lucky to sit next to this guy, Mark, who explained the whole thing to me.
>> See, there's a short little rope in his mouth.
>> See, everyone is just coming into contact is just so friendly and chatty.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> That's what he's going to tie the leg with. That seems difficult. Well, the healer only caught one leg. If you don't catch the back two, you get penalized 5 seconds.
>> Jeez, >> I want to go and check out uh Walmart today. I have been to Walmart.
>> Hey, bro. You you got one more day. By the way, you said 7 days before you miss work.
Are we still in Texas?
>> Before, but I heard that Walmarts in different states are different. And what I heard, >> okay, >> is that they also sell guns. Besides that, the car has been making some weird noises. I think it might be the suspension. Honestly, I hear it the most when I'm going over like a bump or something. I'm also trying to not strain the car too much. I know that Lonnie said I should handle it like an old lady said I should keep it around 60 70 mph really hard as a German to keep it that slow on the highway. There was a >> Okay, I I I'm sure that you guys know why that is. Cuz Germany has the autob bar where you could go any speed.
>> A ton of cars parked at the Walmart and I legit did not see anyone walking in that town. One single person.
>> In fact, they didn't even have sidewalks.
>> Hunting rifles. I'm just curious.
>> Do you need like a >> In fact, they don't have sidewalks in the town.
>> They didn't even have sidewalks.
I'm just curious. Do you need like a special license for for that or like >> uh just have to have an ID? Really? It's all electronic. And then uh the background check takes about like 20 seconds.
>> This is rifle.
>> Oh my god. I can I can hold it.
>> Sure.
>> Load it like that.
>> Wow.
>> People do with those if you have like someone like breaking into your house.
All you have to do is do that. They'll run. Del Ro.
>> I'm Noah.
>> I'm from here.
>> That is my yard.
>> Oh, >> do you have Do y'all have hogs in Germany?
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Crazy. Crazy.
>> Hey. Hey. You could go there, get a bottle of milk and a shotgun.
Are you local?
>> [ __ ] Walmart.
>> All right. Where we at?
>> Driving through Texas though was honestly beautiful. The land just >> Bro, we're still in Texas. You're nearly day seven, mate.
>> Felt endless. And for the first time on the trip, I felt completely free.
>> Beautiful.
No one around, just nature and myself.
So, oh my god, it everything's just so big.
I might have a problem. So, I was just about to drive off and I noticed that there was a huge puddle of of some fluid that dripped from the car. I hope it's not like oil or something. I'm going to uh call my friend Josh and hopefully he's going to be able to to help me.
>> Where the [ __ ] are you?
>> If I were you, I would back the car up, put a bucket underneath, and just see what kind of liquid it is. Most likely it's just the air conditioner. Your engine temperature is right.
>> Okay.
>> Just above normal. If it gets any higher, um that's a problem.
>> So, it turned out I mean, the car is not going to blow up, is it?
>> Thing was fine for now, but that didn't last very long. At some point, it started raining like crazy. So, I pulled over. It rains in Texas and found this random tavern in the middle of the woods. And I'll be honest, I was a little nervous walking in. It felt like one of those places you're not really supposed to find.
>> Why do I feel like Texas never rains? It probably rains quite a bit, right?
>> Have you ever heard of Davy Crockett?
>> It felt like one of those places you're not really supposed to find, >> right?
>> You ever heard of Davy Crockett? It was a a frontier man.
We're not democratic.
>> Ah, this is like a proper local bar, isn't it?
>> They had a lot to say about Texas and about California. There was a pool tournament going on, so I joined.
>> Very cool vibes.
>> I started off pretty well, but these guys were serious.
>> He's got a bull glove.
>> But I did have a great time. And at the end of the night, we wanted to take a photo together. Nice to meet you, Dad.
>> You be careful, man. Have a good time.
>> Thank you. We can take a photo together.
>> How do you flip this around?
>> Hey, goodbye, man.
>> I have made it to Louisiana. Of course, first thing.
>> Wait, wait. It's day seven, though.
Wait, while we classing fully across, like fully across is like to the east side, right? You got to be in one of these states right here. That's like a That's like another 3 days. What I had to do was visit the Popeye's. There's a lot of a lot more pickup trucks here.
Like a lot pickup trucks. So far, so good. I didn't want to make my way to New Orleans. About 5 more hours to go.
There were so many churches on the way to New Orleans. It was crazy. I also found this museum about the history of how people immigrated from Germany to >> all of our ancestors come from over there. All immigration. People moved over there. here it was Africa and then here we're Americans and we're all mixed up. So >> that's great though.
>> Somewhere along the way I realized this trip wasn't really about the drive because doing this by myself felt pretty lonely but everywhere I stopped I ended up meeting someone interesting. I learned something new.
>> Yeah, I can't lie. Like from this is a great video from seeing this and his experience. And by the way, the the people at the START OF THE VIDEO WAS so wrong.
Like bro, he asked his friends or the people that he knew in California like yo he's going to do this trip what's gonna and they just scared him. He's had a great time other than the car like nearly breaking down but like the interactions and the vibes really positive and good. Saw what someone else's life looks like for a bit and was able to just share a good moment together.
>> He even got someone else's hotel key room.
>> There's a lot of interesting people in this country, very different opinions.
She's actually had more interaction with strangers in America in 7 days than I probably have in the past 5 years in the UK.
>> Different beliefs.
>> 10 years.
>> Even though if you don't agree to the same things, you can still connect with people on a human level. You know, we're all human and we're all here in this thing together. So, might as well enjoy the time that we have together.
>> And then I went back home. I >> Oh, so he was just going to Louisiana.
That's the across. Okay. So, not actually to the other. How long would it take then? Would it probably take like 10 days to go from like California to the actual east coast?
>> Passed by the Mexican border, tried some more great food.
>> Oh, pocket.
>> And eventually made it back home safely and the car held up.
>> Nice.
>> You did it.
>> Congratulations.
>> You know what? Very, very good video.
Enjoyed that a lot. I got to see a lot of different parts of America and just the experience and interactions he had was just amazing. Great video. Let me know what you guys think to this in the comment section. If you guys enjoyed, make sure you leave a thumbs up, subscribe for more content. I'll see you on the next one.
