Uh, and we're going to go over some things that were said in Turin Fan's opening statement. uh even though I believe I got to the gist of it, certain things that we one thing that I didn't have time to go over, although it wouldn't have been relevant to the debate was the claim on Augustine accusing Christ of being a sinner. That would be a totally different debate. Uh Turin conceded that Augustine did not apply the psalmist text of the children and the mother to Mary. So that was the thesis of the debate. We're going to talk about that as well though. But Ari, hey, thanks for having me here. Glad to be here again. Yeah, I'm really glad that we were able to do this. Literally, the debate is so fresh. Literally felt like it happened yesterday, you know.

[00:04:19]There is no greater devotion in the church than one to the most holy name of Jesus when we say it devoutly, we give God glory and receive graces for us and the souls in purgatory. You're right about that a thousand%. And we're going to be focusing a ton in Christologology.

[00:04:35]Indeed, our next three debates are all focused on christologology. I'll be debating on modern day debate pretty soon. But then after that, I'm going to be debating again on capturing Christianity with Cameron. And then after that, Ari will be hosting a debate. In fact, my out of my next three debates, two of the three will be against Dr. Shabir Ali. One of those will be hosted by Ari. Be a ton of fun. We're working on those details. But uh Dr. Shabir Lee will be debate. We'll be debating multiple times. So you all are going to get an enormous dose of christologology, an enormous dose of talking about the most holy name. So just like I kept Salvador and I try to keep Salvador and >> Carlos in check, I also have to make sure that I'm keeping the other side in check as well because even though me personally even though I think William is going to annihilate every single person. I I cannot seem biased in this situation, you know. So, so I have to be able to to do it. And I mean, I'm slowly learning what what a moderator should be like and and whatnot. So, I'm really excited for that. I know you have a lot of stuff coming on. I'm having a lot of stuff coming on, too. And if you guys don't know, like on my channel, I'll be having on um I just wrapped up um yesterday for those who tuned in. I had Rose Sweet on. Very, very amazing. She's so sweet. She's she's actually very very sweet. But man did, man did she call me out. And she called a lot of people out, you know, certain things. It was really, really good. We talked about parenting, relationships, family relationships, friendships, and romantic relationships.

[00:07:02]And then um and so yeah, and I mean everything was um everything was in the Catholic Church's teachings, which I think is very beautiful the way that she laid it out. She didn't sugarcoat anything, which I loved. Um, and those who watch the stream can could say the same thing because she was very firm um on it. And then I also wrapped up a a conversation I had with the Coptic priest, Coptic Orthodox priest. Amy talked about the Coptic Orthodox faith.

[00:07:29]And a lot of you guys have watched me, you guys know that I like to I like to dialogue with different people from different backgrounds, especially apostolic faiths as well. I mean, they are they are our brothers and sisters.

[00:10:52]>> To marry Mary by the angel of the Lord explicitly and marital union is holy which is explicitly taught and union is commanded. that's also explicitly taught and therefore that would be fitting for Mary and Joseph as >> so that point I brought up I brought it up in my uh during cross-examination and during closing right um under normal circumstances uh in marriage there is the consummation and uh children come about in normal circumstances in the holy family's situation Christ was very clearly not born from sexual union so immediately right the way you have something unique there. The other thing that we point out that is very unique is the very fact that Mary is a vowed virgin. It's very obvious from the language you uh being utilized there. The other point is not every marriage was merely viewed as only a valid marriage only if it was consummated. You've got a big issue with Numbers 30 and the vowed virgin there.

[00:11:52]And as I challenged him during the cross- examination, Numbers 30 shows there are exceptions to married Jewish people that can take vows of virginity as long as the husband agrees to them.

[00:12:04]So to claim, by the way, we don't think marriage is sinful in any kind of way.

[00:12:08]But to claim that you've always got to have sexual units, he was wrong on that particular point. And I don't know why he brought that up if I I've told I've correct him I've corrected him on that point many times over.

[00:12:18]And also I do want to point out didn't go to me like >> by his logic by his logic if it would have been like yeah if you're married you you have to like consummate and you have to have kids and stuff. What about infertility?

[00:12:33]What about those who can't have any kids >> right? Also, does he not know that there are things there are such things as celibate marriages where where where if both if both people do not want to have any kids, they can choose to be celibate.

[00:12:49]>> And so I mean it just for me that just logically didn't make any that logically doesn't make doesn't make any sense which I can get the point of like yeah like obviously the purpose of marriage should be able to be fruitful I guess but that's not always the case for everybody. like every I feel like everybody's case is very different >> and >> I think to try to apply that to to St. Joseph and her blessed mother was very um messed up. [00:16:40]If you know the material, it will not go well for the Protestant. If you and I argue that in terms of marology, period in terms of all of the Marian dogmas, if a Catholic is well informed, simply do not think the Protestant will do well.

In fact, uh you're going to find that I'm going to reiterate a lot of what I said during the debate, and the only new material is Psalm 69, but that didn't even have anything to do with the debate. The debate wasn't on the atonement, which by the way, we'll be bringing Erica Barara, my brother, on soon to be talking about the atonement soon. Uh, but the debate wasn't even on the issue of the atonement.

[00:19:32]So, it's a very natural name for a child of Joseph that he'd also be called Joseph like his father. uh James and Simon and Judas are all >> love you dearly brother can't wait to do something again soon now two arguments he made immediately which by the way I challenged him on and we got no answer but for people that may be may not be new to these I challenged him on this during the cross examination uh got nothing but crickets he said they came together that's the Greek smelline or suncomi in the Greek uh suncomi come together doesn't mean sex in any way at all. There's just no reference to it.

[00:20:12]Mary joined his house. Mary went to live with him. Doesn't mean anything to do with sex. And very clearly, we have shown that many times over in in uh articles we put out in videos we've done. Suncomi does not mean anything in regards to sex. I challenged him on that. He had nothing. The argument of Mark 6 where they're identified as James, Joseph, Jude, and Simon is dead in the water. As I challenged him again, look, all this stuff I got answered during cross-examination. In Mark 6, we read about the brothers and we number one, we have James, Joseph, Jud, and Simon. They're listed. And then we read about the Adelf, the sisters. But the big issue here is James, Joseph's, Jude, and Simon are then identified as kinsmen. And we've looked in the Greek extensively. When you list brothers and then they're identified as relative as kinsmen, you're eliminating the the possibility of them coming from the same mother, meaning they cannot be children of Mary. Our Lord tells us they are kinsmen. And the way the early fathers interpreted that and understood that is, yeah, James, Joseph, Jude, Simon, how are they brothers? Well, they're not from Mary. We can eliminate that immediately. And that particular reading on Mark 6 is uh as early as early as St. Josephus in the 100s. Then we get to St. Jerome, he gives us that same reading.

[00:21:45]Nobody reads Mark 6 the way that Turretans did. And I challenged him on that. He had nobody. He had nothing at all. There's just nothing there. Period.

[00:21:56]>> Common names. Judah being a particularly appropriate name for someone who's in the tribe of Judah, which Jesus and his brothers were.

[00:22:04]But it's not just those two places in Matthew and Mark.

[00:22:08]Why would Jesus need to be called only begotten? Juan, do you realize how ridiculous that is?

[00:22:15]Now, Juan, I understand that maybe you don't know the Bible very well.

[00:22:20]Actually, I I am 100% certain you don't know the Bible at all. Because why would he be called only begotten if in the book of Exodus, the Greek word is proaticos for firstborn? Why on earth why on earth would he be called only begotten if Exodus is talking about the firstborn of the womb? And then Luke is hearkening to Exodus. The words used in Exodus is not only begotten, Juan. Now, Juan, for one that says that they hold a solar scriptura, you figured you'd know a little bit about the scriptor, but clearly you don't know a thing about the scriptura. And let me show you. Let's educate you because this is where Protestantism miserably, miserably falls apart. We're going to educate you right now, my friend. Because that argument on the only begotten is one of the most embarrassing ones. shows us you simply just don't know. You don't know the Bible. Because if you knew the Bible, you would know why Luke is is utilizing proaticos.

[00:23:27]Because Exodus 13:2 tells you right here, "Consecrate to me every firstborn male, the firstborn from every womb among the Israelites belongs to me." And then we get to the verses you're referring to.

[00:23:46]And our Lord is referred to as Proatacas. Why is he referred to as Proatacas in Luke 2? Well, we're told why. Because Luke 2 is hearkening back to this right here.

[00:23:59]So to say that he should be called only begotten shows me you don't know your Bible. For one that holds the solar scriptura shows me you don't know the scriptura. on shows me you don't know that scriptura.

And that same account or a parallel similar account is in Mark 3 and in Luke 8. John 2 mentions his brethren. And now I don't know why he goes on and on and we're going to fast forward after this. I don't know why he goes on and on. There is not a living Catholic or Orthodox that are going to deny that the Greek that the word brother is used. I mean nobody's going to deny brother is used. Yeah, I know.

[00:25:33]We know that brother is used. I mean we're very well aware that brother is used. The issue is brother has a broad range of how it is used in the Bible and for him to say well you know what brother is used so uh what is it implying it very clearly if brother is used in a broad way in the Bible we need to see how it's being used here as well and if those brothers are clearly shown to not be children of Mary they cannot be well then how are we to interpret brother here. Instead, he keeps bringing it up over and over. Well, they're called brothers. Well, they're called brothers. Yeah, we know that they're called brothers. That isn't the the thrust of the argument that at all. We know that. And any evangelical knows that as well, but we can look in the Old Testament and even in the New Testament.

[00:26:26]Abraham and Lot are called brothers in Genesis 13, but Lot is Abraham's nephew.

[00:26:31]And by the way, for people that are wondering, I had it here. I gave multiple examples. I mean I gave many examples during the debate. I mean I think this should really really really be clear. I mean I gave multiple examples. The brothers of Jesus are never called Mary's children ever. I mean ever. Why not once? We've got four gospels and 23 other books of the New Testament. Why are they never identified as Mary's children even once? And we've got four gospels and we got the book of Acts where where very clearly these figures play a prominent role. Why are they never identified as Mary's children? Why is it only Jesus referred to as a son of Mary? I mean you you would think that if they were children of Mary there would be clarity here but they're not referred to as children of Mary ever. And as I mentioned right now, I don't know why on earth Turin fan is wasting so much time in his opening statement arguing that well brother, you know, they're called brothers over and over, right? But Adelfoy don't automatically mean uterine siblings. And I pointed out the Greek word adelfoy adelfos adelf has broad meaning. The Bible over and over uses kinship language broadly. Abraham and Lot are called brothers, but they're uncle and nephew. And that usage is broad. The Semitic world has broad familial terminology. I brought that up. I clearly brought that up. He had no good answer. He had no good answer.

[00:28:06]And and and to be very honest with you, I didn't hear a good response on John 19 either. I didn't I don't think I heard a good argument all evening long. I wanted to be as kind as I could, but I don't think Protestants have anything. I don't think they have anything here. Ari, what do you think?

[00:28:25]>> I think that um I don't know. I I was expecting better arguments. I'm honest with you. I was expecting better arguments because I keep hearing that Turret fan is really good and >> and he's he's pretty sharp and >> and whatnot. But I was very I was fairly disappointed, I think. And on his side, I was very disappointed. I mean, the the arguments were so easy to like dispute or refute, I guess, that it it was just kind of dis it felt like a very easy win if I'm honest with you. If there were other brothers, if they were there, they would have been entrusted to the care of Mary. That was part of the law. It wasn't a matter of, oh, well, you know, they weren't believers. That's bunk. Pho doesn't even use that argument. Pho tells you if there are siblings, they got to take care of the mother. That's part of the rules. Those are the law. That is the law. Honor thy father and thy mother.

[00:46:47]And the Bible tells you very clearly. It shows you that. That's a bad bad argument. I got to tell you, Ari, it's bad. you know, over and over I hearing him bring these arguments up and I'm just, you know, I'm not impressed. There just these were not there were not good arguments.

I brought up John 19 and I pointed out how if Mary is entrusted to the beloved disciple in perpetuity there could be no there there were no siblings then there were none and the point that I was making is right here our Lord himself says for Moses said honor your father and your mother but you say if a man says to his father or mother whatever prophet you might have received from me as corban that is a gift to then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother. Jesus condemns that. He says they're making the word of God of no effect. You need to take care of your parents. You have to. And 1 Timothy 5 tells you, "If any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents." How? But if anyone does not provide for his own, especially those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

[00:48:30]We never heard a rebuttal to that. He had nothing in John 19. If they were brothers, if James, Joseph, Jude, and Simon were children of Mary, they would have taken care of her. They're nowhere to be found. Because they're nowhere to be found, our Lord hands Mother Mary over to the care of the beloved disciple.

Greek is different from English. Matthew chapter 1 is not teaching that Mary later had relations with Joseph. If you look at Matthew 1, it's focused on the fulfillment of prophecy and the virginal conception. In fact, Matthew flat out tells you for his purpose. He says it is the fulfillment of Isaiah 7. In fact, he will interrupt his narrative. I want you to to read Matthew 1 again. He'll interrupt the narrative. He's going to tell you all of this took place to fulfill what the Lord has spoken by the prophet.

[00:53:34]Then he quotes in Matthew 1:23, he quotes Isaiah 7:14. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son. So the entirety of the text is moving towards a virgin conceiving and the fulfillment.

[00:53:50]It isn't the virgin marrying and then later sexual relations. The focus is a christoologgical one. Our Lord is Emmanuel. He is God with us of Isaiah 7.

[00:54:01]When you look at Matthew 1:25, he knew her not until it doesn't require a change after. You look at that Greek chaos and it that very often marks what happened up to a point without saying what happened afterward. One example we can give you is Matthew 28:20. I am in the very same book, the very same author showing you the very same author can use chaos until to show you that there is not going to be a change in state.

[00:54:31]Matthew 28:20, I am with you always until the end of the age.

[00:54:37]Well, our Lord is not going to not be with us at the end of the age anymore, is he? No, he's always going to be with us. But I'm going to show you how that Greek word is used, even in sexual related context, if you will. 2 Samuel 6:23, Mikall had no child until the day of her death. Well, something's telling me, something tells me Mikall didn't become a zombie and have a kid. No, she didn't have children after death. She clearly didn't. So to say Joseph did not know her until she gave birth is doing one thing. It's affirming her virginity before the birth. It doesn't automatically mean relations happen after. And all of Matthew 1 is dealing with Isaiah 7. That's what I brought up in my opening statement, in my cross-examination against them, and in my closing. St. Matthew is defending the virginal conception. That's why he tells you in Matthew 1:18, before they came together, before the house is joined, he's talking about this virginal conception. He tells you there's a virgin conception, there's divine sunship, the prophecies being fulfilled. He never says, "And afterward, Joseph knew her." That's important. And I brought that up to church. He never says, "And afterward, Joseph knew her." People always say, they think, "Well, Matthew is saying Joseph knew her." No, he's not. Not at all. What St. Matthew is doing over and over and over and over is echoing Old Testament fulfillment language. That it might be fulfilled. That it might be fulfilled. That it might be fulfilled.

Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God." And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the most high. And the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He'll reign over the house of Jacob and of his kingdom there will be no end. He is telling her the result of her of her ascent, the result of her agreement will bring about the incarnation.

[01:00:26]He's not showing up with a cake saying, "Hey, congratulations." He is telling her this is what's going to happen. And Mary hearing that she's going to conceive, she doesn't know how yet, says, "How can this be since I know not man?" She's a vowed virgin.

[01:00:44]She doesn't know about the overshadowing yet. I want you to put it in your head, audience. The angel appears says, "You're going to give birth to a child."

[01:00:55]Mary knows how babies come about. He's not telling you you're going to give a birth give birth after explaining about the overshadowing. It isn't until Mary says, "Well, how can it happen? I don't know man." She says, "How can this be? I know not man." Then the angel tells her, "Because the angel knows she's a vowed virgin. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you." Mary knew how children would normally come about. If she planned to have normal relations with Joseph, normal sexual relations, she wouldn't have had to have asked, "How can this be since I know not men?" By the very fact that she's using a a Hebrew sexual idiom means that she would know the normal way babies come about.

[01:01:43]But then the Archangel Gabriel says, "Hold on. you are a vowed virgin.

[01:01:49]Therefore, you're going to be overshadowed. You're not going to have sexual relations. That's why I pointed out the connection to Jeffa's daughter.

[01:01:55]And there were crickets. There was no rebuttal because in Judges 11, Jeffa makes a vow and and his daughter is part of that vow. And we read that the daughter knew no man. The exact language is found used by Mary. I know not men.

[01:02:14]The exact language. The Greek of the Septuagent uses the exact idiomatic framework to not know a man. The only other place where we have that parallel is in the book of Judges. And I brought that up to show him mother Mary is a perpetually vowed virgin. He had no rebuttal to that. Simply didn't have anything.

And if you've denied taking care of your your your family, you are worse than an unbeliever. Meaning part of the law, it doesn't matter if they were believers or not. Part of the law was you had to take care of your parents. Pho is very clear. Let's look at Pho.

Number one, I reject that. Nowhere does the law say, well, they've got to be believers to take care of the mother. No, they've got to take care of the mother. They're required by the law. Period. Whether they're believers or not. But let's pretend that believers argument does work. If you read the Greek of John 19 and the unanimous interpretation of the fathers, mother Mary is given over to St. John perpetually.

Now, if these really were children of Mary, Mary would have been handed over only for a certain time, not in perpetuity, but Mary does go to stay with John perpetually till the end of her life. So you know what we need to do is identify how are they brothers and sisters and I think that we've done that I think we've done that sufficiently when we go to Mark 6 uh because we've challenged him many times over he has no answer for it because in Mark 6 we have it here is this not the carpenter son of Mary mother of James Joseph Jude and Simon and are not his sisters all here with us and as you can tell there I underlined the Greek You've got the Greek word for kin for relative and the Greek word singanusen.

Now, if these brothers and sisters were children of Mary, they wouldn't be called kinsmen.

[01:26:25]They live in the household, right? But in ancient Judaism, households were quite uh expensive, extensive. you had cousins living under the same roof, real siblings and what have you, especially for poor for poor families. A lot of people would live under the same roof.

[01:26:42]So, they're identified, they're named, they're listed, and then we're told they're relatives. They can't be children of Mary. That to me should end all the debate. He had no answer for that.

So, >> yeah. um you know so that that to me was at that time was fairly easy for me to argue but but the thing is is like even now like I look back at those arguments that I've heard and it's like if somebody were to present those arguments I would know how to refute those arguments because it's it's not >> it's not something that um that works and also not only just doing that from a from a Catholic perspective but also doing that from a non on from a non-religious perspective as well because I think that like you can go at it from a religious perspective, but nine times out of 10 the people the people that you're speaking with are not religious, you know, and a lot of times maybe they do affirm a god, but you don't know what kind of god they necessarily affirm.

What brought what brought you back to Jesus? Is there something that there was something in particular that you can think of that was um maybe a turning point or turning points?

[01:56:54]>> Um it was actually it was actually at the age of 15 that I um that was when I had my very first encounter with the Lord. It was at a >> it was at a Spanish prayer group and um my church is very charismatic. So we we believe a lot in like the um the gifts of the Holy Spirit, you know, in terms of um prophecy and um gift of tongues and whatnot. And so um it was actually at a prayer retreat that I not at a prayer at the prayer group where um we were doing intense prayer. I think it was the first time and um it was during that prayer where where I I just it was more of an emotional experience.

[01:57:36]>> Yeah. And honestly, and I and I liked it because I think that um God had to reach me through an emotional experience for me to for for my curiosity to kind of peak, you know. Um so I think it was definitely that. But to be but to be really really fair, I would say what really did help was actually learning what it is that the church taught because I really did believe like with me with it with this mentality that I was in with me struggling with my sexuality. I think what really surprised me was because I heard so many people's like especially with the group that I hung out with, they was like, "Christians are really bad people because they hate us. They condemn us and they want us to go to hell." You know, they they condemn us and you know, they're like they're they're trying to ruin what what we were born to be. And you know, cuz I really thought I was born that way. I really thought I was born a bisexual woman. And then turns out that when when I started reading the when I started reading the Bible, you know, when I had that emotional experience, I started reading the Bible and when I started reading it, I was like, "Wait a minute. Where where's the scripture where it says that God hates me?"

[01:58:42]>> Yeah.

[01:58:42]>> You know, I was like, "Where's the scripture that says that that all that I'm going to go to hell because I'm because I'm a bisexual woman or because of this and that." And the thing about it is it's like it's it's also here's the thing. when you go through that. I think it was what what was a really I'll be honest with you, the one book that made me really angry was the book of Genesis because it talks about when a man leaves his when a man leaves his um father and mother, >> you know, to become one with with his wife. That angered me a lot because obviously, you know, as a bisexual woman, like you're kind of like, what the hell? Like, >> yeah, >> what about me? And at one point I was wanted to throw it away. But when I started reading a little bit more, like it just it it it slowly I slowly started to soften and to really think and I was like maybe maybe I'm not um maybe this Christianity thing isn't so bad as people made it seem.

[01:59:41]Maybe I don't I wish I didn't I think that was the hardest thing for me to like that was the hardest thing I think for me to accept was that um was that if I were to give my life fully to Christ that I cannot be living the way that I was living.

[02:00:01]>> That was that was very very hard for me to do. But, you know, but and and it was hard because it cuz I remember there were so many times where I would fight with the Lord on that. I'll be like, "But why why can't I not be with a woman? Like, I don't even like a man.

[02:00:17]Look at all the way that these men have treated me in my life. So, why in the world would I would I want to be with a man?" you know, but but when you you know, and obviously it took therapy and it took um and it took several years for me to be able to >> to heal from that. And to be honest, once I once I found out what was the root of everything and I was able to slowly work through these certain traumas that I went through, that made me really um that that really that made me really believe that that I could no longer be with the man. Once I was able to completely break that, then I was able to to to let it go. Then I was able to kind of free myself from that.

How do you com how do you how do you work on evangelizing and reaching them? You know, because I mean, everybody thinks that just by telling them they're going to go to hell, like people think like that. We were told that God doesn't love us. We were told that we we needed to die and that the lifestyle that we were living was disgusting and that um and that we were the worst people ever and that you know that we needed to repent or or were damned forever. And so it's just it was this disgusting things that um disgusting things that not just myself but many others face through that time you know and coming from actual Christians Catholics >> Catholics non-denominationals you know etc like any Christians that you can think of they those were the people that were doing it. So, um but yeah, so those are topics that I'm going to hopefully start focusing more on and um start, you know, just doing that cuz I think it's I think it I think that we need to Here's the thing, especially when it comes to the LGBT community, and I hope people understand why I'm saying this.

[02:07:23]I think people tend to soften it or they tend to sugarcoat it when talking about it. they're not actually honest about what the church actually teaches. They start to affirm it or they think that because it's so normalized in our society, all the the way to support them is to affirm to affirm it or pretend it's not happening.

[02:09:46]He is strongly connected with the flight into Egypt. I don't know if Ari loves uh St. Raphael. I know she loves St. Michael. But I think tomorrow after you all see the show we're going to do tomorrow evening, you're going to gain a deeper love for St. Raphael, a very deeper love because he's heavily associated with that. Many devotional writers uh believe. Now here's another thing. This may come later. Figures like St. Bernard. Um, and there's another one whose name escapes me. Uh, if I am correct, what's his name? What's his name? He taught the immaculate conception very clearly.

So, Idmar of Canterbury in the 1100s and St. Bernard.

So, I made a few slides right after that in that same day. Let's go over them. Michael leads the heavenly armies. The clearest text is Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. Revelation 12:7. Here Michael is not merely an angel fighting.

[02:13:32]He's presented as the leader of the heavenly hosts against Satan. So the dragon, the devil, wages war. St. Michael commands heaven's armies. That is why Christian tradition calls him the prince of the heavenly host. So yes, he is the most powerful. And I don't know why one of my images didn't load. Hold on. I made multiple images. One of them didn't load.

[02:13:56]Daniel presents St. Michael as the great prince in Daniel 12:1. At that time shall arise Michael the great prince who has charged of your people. So Michael is called the great prince. Here Daniel 10 likewise depicts spiritual conflict among angelic powers and Michael arrives as the heavenly champion aiding the people of God. So the fathers often saw this as showing Michael's exalted authority among angels. And then here is I also made this sorry so it can be even clearer here. William never misses a super tradition places him at decisive moments of salvation history. Christian tradition often connects St. Michael with protection of Israel. That's correct. Defense of the church, guidance of souls and the protection of Israel is in the Old Testament in Daniel, combat against demons, assistance at death and final conflict imagery. Eastern and Western traditions both give St. Michael extraordinary prominence. But one thing I also didn't forget to put, one thing that I could not forget is we've got to point out, we have to make it very clear. Michael is tremendous. We love him dearly. We love him dearly. But Michael is the mightiest among the angels in warfare and guardianship. But Mary is above the angels by grace. And that's a great point that Ari brought up. As Ari said, I'm sick of people saying that women do not have an important role. Sick of it. Uh women have a very important role in the Bible.

[02:15:36]Indeed, Mary is above the angels by grace. Christ infinitely surpasses all creation. He is the captain creator of creation. So yes, there you go. I laid out this little chart there. Michael's greatness, St. Michael's greatness is real. Yet his glorious to serve the king and honor the queen. As we can see in Revelation 12, that is why the ancient prayer says, "St. Michael the archangel, defend us in battle, invoking the heavenly champion against the powers of darkness." So yes, there it is. He is the greatest in terms of power. Sorry, >> I knew it. So W Michael, there you go.

They continue to divide by moving further and further away from the apostolic faith.

Y >> and which is Jesus. And now and now the Lord God and his spirit has sent me. So what the black Hebrew Israel is going to say is that the first part of the sentence is truly about the about God.

[02:20:42]The second part is about Isaiah.

[02:20:44]>> So it's going to backfire on me if I change the subject there. So how do I solve this?

[02:20:50]>> Yeah. So what you can do is the primary thing that I always do is what is being actually quoted. So look at what is actually being quoted and applied to Christ in Isaiah. That is the way that you can say okay this particular portion is being taken as a typological fulfillment. Maybe not the whole verse but this particular portion is being taken as a typological fulfillment. That is the same thing we do in Psalm 69. In fact, as you go through the whole thing, there's a lot of it applied to Christ and then a lot of it that isn't. In fact, that exact verse right there, Psalm 69:5, oh God, you know my folly, my sins are not hidden from you, none of that, none of that is in reference to Christ. In fact, Turin fan was wrong. He said, "Well, Augustine is applying the folly and the sins to Christ." No, he's not.

[02:21:51]We brought it up earlier. He was wrong.

[02:21:53]He's applying that to the members. He's applying that to the members, not applying that verse to Christ at all.

[02:22:00]And the other issue is this. There are certain areas here where a piece of it may be applied as a christoologgical fulfillment. Like zeal for your house has consumed me. that's connected to the temple zeal and our Lord cleansing the temple. But the thing is this, the Psalms and even Isaiah have multiple layers of theology. What is actually being applied to Jesus? That's what we need to look at. There are certain areas where without a doubt in the Psalms, it's about a dividic suffering. Davidic suffering sometimes is applied to Christ. It's not always applied to Christ.

[02:22:34]>> Yeah. So, William, yes. So, so now the question is in the Psalms, when do you know when it's talking about uh the the psalmist and when do you know when it's talking about Jesus? And you're going to go through this. Is it easier for me to say that the mother in this verse is Jerusalem?

[02:22:52]And then get and it's easier for me to say, but then they're going to say that, oh, it's conveniently now Jerusalem. And when you say the woman and the mother and and all the others, you say it's Virgin Mary, so pick your poison. So then I'll lose again.

[02:23:07]>> Yeah. So let me tell you, let me tell you when you can know. Um you can often tell by asking, does the New Testament explicitly apply this to Jesus? So where is the New Testament quoting Psalm 69 about Jesus? That's your clearest indicator. And you don't lose because we can apply it to Jerusalem because of the context. So mother there is not going to be literal mother because look at the context of Psalm 69. Zeal for your house very often it's talking about the temple. So when we look at it when we lay it out in fact let me do it right here. Let me open up the verse because I'm going I'm going off the top of my head. When we actually lay it out and we see okay zeal for your house zeal for your house that's consumed me. When we look at this and we see what the context is. They gave me golfer food and my thirst they gave me vinegar. When we see what the context is and we see what's being applied to Christ, that is when it becomes very clear when there is particular ambiguity and when we say okay well that's never applied to Jesus. So how do we look at that? That becomes important because remember zeal for your house is consuming. What is that about? That's temple zeal. Our lord cleansing the temple. And then you go you go downward downward Psalm 69:8. I have become a stranger to my brothers. Okay, literally to David. How does that apply to David? Well, that can uh reflect David's suffering, even the rejection of his people. But then we look at the broader picture there. What else is Psalm 69 about? It's not only about zeal for the temple or Jerusalem. It's also about this. It's also about uh persecution. So if you stop and think that it's also about persecution, well, if you want to try and apply that to Christ and say, well, that mother and the brothers um how would that then fit in the broader picture? Well, you can look at that and say that fits perfectly with Jerusalem because his kins people, his kins people and Jerusalem, mother Jerusalem do reject him. And that's the way blessed the otter of Cyrus interpreted that because he said look this is not applied to Christ in John.

[02:25:30]It's never quoted and applied to Christ.

[02:25:32]But if we read all of this and we do apply it, this is how it would be applied. It wouldn't be applied in terms of dealing with a literal biological mother and siblings from the same mother.

So when you say you're an alien, it's to a country, not to your brothers.

[02:55:41]Glorious prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle, in the fearful warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. The poison of his malice, spirit of lying, impiiety and blasphemy, and the deadly breath of impurity in every form of vice and iniquity. These crafty enemies of mankind have filled to overflowing with gall and wormwood the church which is the bride of the lamb without spot. They have laid profane hands upon her most sacred treasures. Make haste therefore oh invincible prince to help the people of God against the inroads of the lost spirits and grant us the victory. Amen.
