[00:01:22]We've been seeing things happening lately in the crypto industry. We have stuff like the Sui mainnet deciding to crash, and this is not the first time.

[00:01:33]We've been seeing hacks, and now we are starting to see crashing of these networks.

[00:01:39]Another thing is you have to notice something happening in Ethereum.

[00:01:43]The OGs and the long-term believers are deciding to quit on Ethereum.

[00:01:48]Why is that happening?

[00:01:50]You have Bitcoin fragmentation. The Bitcoin core development team is now fragmented. You even have people like Paul coming out and say by August they expect to do a hard fork on Bitcoin.

[00:02:03]They want to create another chain which is called eCash.

[00:02:07]And why do you think this is all happening all at once?

[00:02:11]This is because of the gatekeeping culture that is inside the Bitcoin core development.

[00:02:18]People are saying that in order for Bitcoin to scale, they can't do it on a Bitcoin base layer because there is some people that are trying to prevent this kind of innovation from happening.

[00:02:30]The biggest solution that they can do is create another chain.

[00:02:33]Now I listened to one of the interviews from Paul whereby he sat down with Ankit from XIM podcast.

[00:02:43]And if you look at the reasons as to why he decided to announce this hard fork, all the reasons that he's trying to put out are the same reasons as to why Casper was created.

[00:02:55]Now just remind most of the people, people like Yonatan Sompolinsky, Dr. Aviv Zohar, they tried to scale Bitcoin from the early days, but they came to realize something that Paul is realizing right now, that this kind of gatekeeping culture in the Bitcoin core development won't allow this kind of upgrade.

[00:03:16]So what did they decide to do? They decided to take their own time and create something called Casper. Now Casper did not fork Bitcoin.

[00:03:32]It follows the same principles as Bitcoin, but does scale in a different way.

[00:03:38]Basically, Casper is not just a hard fork of Bitcoin. Casper decided to create something else from ground up, but using the same principles of Bitcoin. Now how does this relate to why people need to start taking Casper seriously.

[00:04:20]Now, announcements like this make you start to think like we haven't even hit a tiny fraction of adoption. And these networks that brand themselves as networks where tokenization is going to happen are already starting to crash.

[00:04:40]Solana has been crashing. XRP crashed.

[00:04:44]All these networks have been crashing.

[00:04:47]Now, you have to ask yourself, what is going to happen once we start to see things moving on chain?

[00:04:54]Now, just remind most of the people, these big institutions are paying attention.

[00:04:58]And they won't deploy all of this volume on a chain that is fragile, a chain that isn't secure, a chain that can go down for more than 2 hours. Just imagine the amount of losses that these people could get by a network like Sui crashing. Like, if they put a huge volume on Sui and Sui decides to do what it did recently.

[00:05:25]Just imagine the amount of losses that these people could experience.

[00:05:29]Now, on the other side, if you think about it, what option do they really have?

[00:05:36]I think the only option they have here is Casper.

[00:05:40]Because Casper has the same proof of work security, the one that you can find in Bitcoin.

[00:05:46]Right? But also, Casper can scale more than these networks that are crashing.

[00:05:50]So, you have a network that is very secure, but is also able to scale more than the proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies that decided to abandon proof-of-work security. So, that alone is a massive advantage.

[00:06:05]But, you can say that, "Okay, Kaspa is still young. It hasn't been tested.

[00:06:09]Kaspa hasn't been adopted. It has its own challenges, for example, the security budget problem." And that is exactly true. Now, this post from Kaspa Global says, "Security budget is part of crypto people ignore until they suddenly cannot.

[00:06:26]Who pays to secure the chain over the long run? In proof-of-work systems, miners need economic reasons to keep showing up. Early on, that can come mostly from issuance. Later, it has to come from fees, demand for block space, and real economic activity. Now, that is one reason programmability matters so much for Kaspa.

[00:06:48]If more useful activity lives on or around the system, the security story can become more durable. If the ecosystem stays thin, the long-term story gets harder." Now, this is not just economics trivia. It's part of whether a protocol can stay alive without running only on sentiment and narrative.

[00:07:09]Now, this post alone tells you exactly what you need to understand about the situation of Kaspa with the security budget.

[00:07:16]But, if you think in a different perspective, the security budget problem might be the best challenge to ever happen for Kaspa, because it's forcing Kaspa to right now think outside the box. How do we maintain the security of this network?

[00:07:32]We need transaction fees. How do we get transaction fees? We need to bring a lot of activity on chain. Now, in this survival mode and trying to stay alive, that is where Casper creates so much value.

[00:07:49]I was thinking about this example, and this is one of the most applied examples in a society where I come from because they say that if you want to kill a cat, which is not something I would recommend, right?

[00:08:04]They say that if you want to kill a cat, don't lock yourself with it inside a room and say that you're going to punish this cat.

[00:08:14]Because once this cat realizes that it has only two options, to either accept its own fate, which is death, or do whatever it takes to survive.

[00:08:26]Because once this cat realizes that there is no exit, there is no door, there is no window, and if this cat sees that your intentions are very destructive, whatever that's going to do is to make sure that it stays alive. And in the process, the person that closed the door, believing that they would punish this cat until death, is going to face a lot of trouble. Now, just remind most of the people, this is just an example. When you try to relate this situation with Casper, Casper is in a situation whereby there is only two options, accept defeat and die, or fight with everything to stay alive.

[00:09:10]And during this process of trying to stay alive, that is where we're going to see a lot of big things happen for Casper. Because if you read this post from Han Smook, who is one of the core developers of Casper, he says, "Crypto needs to turn from a collection of bag holders hunting for yield into a group of people that actually want to change the world." That should be the message of Casper, not digital anarchy, but a full-blown digital society that interfaces with the real world in as many meaningful ways as possible and that has a shared vision of the future.

[00:09:47]It's fine to generate wealth along the way, but we should also be aware of the amount of agency we have as a collective to just do things.

[00:09:57]This is a massive perspective because you might think that the core developers right now are just thinking about the security budget problem.

[00:10:05]But if you look at the things that Casper has in plans, if you think about the things that are going to be deployed on Casper, these are not just for survival. These are things that are expected to change the world.

[00:10:20]You have things like coordination markets on Casper that was introduced by Yonatan Sompolinsky. You also have the Desert Industrial Initiative and the Casper Industrial Initiative trying to bring or trying to connect Casper with this clean energy ecosystem. Now, all of these developments are very, very massive.

[00:10:41]But just because people haven't seen the price go up or any effect on the value of cash, that's why most of the people are not taking Casper seriously.

[00:10:51]But the people that notice these moves early are always the ones that position themselves correctly.
