As we age, time perception shifts dramatically—periods that once seemed endless suddenly feel fleeting, prompting us to recognize that life should be measured by time remaining rather than time lived; this realization encourages us to prioritize meaningful experiences, cherish loved ones, and live each day with purpose rather than passively waiting for time to pass.

The Years Start Coming FastAñadido:
Nobody tells you or warns you it's going to happen.
One day you're 25, you've got your whole life ahead of you and then one morning, one afternoon, you run across a box of old photos.
You start looking at those photos and you start wondering where did the time go?
Years went by so fast.
The scary thing is it's not that getting well let me rephrase that. The scariest part is not about getting older.
The scary part is how fast it starts happening.
I mean, if you think back, just think back for when we were in like high school.
I mean, school days felt forever long.
School year felt for ever long.
The summers felt long.
I mean, I can remember going, "Man, I can't wait till Christmas."
Everything was just like in front of us, completely ahead of us.
But I guess when you're young, you spend time like it's never going to run out.
And then it's like, and a lot of you can probably say say that you understand this, but it's like all of a sudden 5 months turn into 5 years.
Hey guys. Hi Then the next thing you know, I mean, crap, 10 years disappears.
But I guess the years didn't speed up or time didn't speed up.
I guess we finally noticed that it was moving.
I mean, I think I realized it. Well, I realized it. I know at the beginning of the year and you you guys that with me in the journey, but you know, I'm 54, my dad's 74, my stepmom's 75.
My mom passed in 2015.
And just this past weekend on Saturday, I just kind of sat there and just kind of looked at him.
And I thought, "Good God, I'm where he was 25 years ago."
That's scary when you realize how fast everything moves around you.
I mean, I've got a couple of dogs.
One of them, she'll be nine in December.
My other one, he just turned 12. Now, he don't act like he's 12, but it's like it was just it was almost like it was yesterday he was chasing a stuffless toy across the floor.
And it was almost like yesterday that I'd went and picked up my other dog.
You know, losing losing my mom gave me a perspective on life. how fragile it is and how it is is if you don't take care of yourself because it goes by so fast. I mean, she was diagnosed in April 2014 and died in uh the end of October of 2015.
That's quick.
Then, you know, you see those old photos And you're like, "Man, that person, why didn't I realize how fast it was?"
Maybe it was because we were never taught how fast everything moves.
They just let us be kids.
For me, I guess realizing everything about the people I love, they're getting older than I am. you know, my dad, my stepmom.
It's kind of it's kind of difficult to see.
Now, I mean, common sense comes into play here and you say, "Well, you know, nobody lives forever." Well, you're right. Nobody does live forever.
But I think I've said this in a couple of other videos. I retired in 2013.
And here it is, 2026.
And I barely remember those 13 years flying by.
I mean, I'm I remember the the real lows, you know, my mom passing, losing one of my other dogs, you know, relationship breakups, you know, health scares with family members.
I remember those.
I don't remember really any other good times except for maybe, you know, the vacation I took in 2021.
The 10day vacation that I finally got to take in 2021.
Haven't had one since. Didn't take one beforehand.
I think the moment that you start realizing that your parents or your loved ones won't be here forever.
That changes you inside.
You know the things that we all thought we had forever like opportunities, our health, our energy, friendships.
How much of that is gone now?
I mean, hopefully a lot of us still have our health.
I know our friendships friends go and come.
Opportunities well if you're my age can tell you they become far and few between.
So you really have to grab grab life by the horns. And you know if you get that next opportunity to retire or if you don't see any opportunities to coming that are coming you need to start making your own.
You know, when you're I guess you could think about it, it's like when you're young, you always kind of look forward to the next school year or you look forward to the next summer.
Here, today, now you look forward to the next day.
you know, and the days fly by.
I mean, I got up at 4:00 a.m.
It's 3:00 in the afternoon.
Got off work about 354 minutes ago. About 35 minutes ago.
Come out here because this has been weighing on my mind a lot.
You know, you always get when you're young, you always get another chance, another year.
One day you realize life isn't measured by how much time you have lived.
It's measured by how much time you have left.
And you got to start thinking, how much time do we have left? Now, I know there's been a couple of you in the comments out there that says you're just waiting on death. Well, why are you waiting on it?
You should be doing something. You should be living each day like it is your last.
You should be doing things that you enjoy.
Not sitting at home staring at your TV channel surfing between Days of Our Lives and Guiding Light and The Price is Right.
Maybe that's why, you know, with all of that and everything, all of that that I just talked about, maybe that's why getting old matters.
Because I think maybe it teaches us what matters. Maybe cuz now I know I want peace.
I'm building peace.
Family. I want my family to be healthy.
I want myself to be healthy.
The people I care about, I want them to be healthy.
And now with this new purpose that I have to turn everything around kind of gives me some joy in my heart.
I want to I want to do new things, you know. I want I want new experiences.
And I think with me having this goal to retire at 55, I think I'm going to get that.
The only thing I'm hoping too is if time will slow down like it was when we were growing up.
You know, I think when you realize and you're old enough to understand that the years or that the days, the months, the years start coming so fast and then all of a sudden you suddenly stop wasting them.
I mean, how much more time are we going to waste? I know I'm not going to waste any more time.
If I'm tired at the end of the day, then that means it was a good day. Not from work, but from doing everything that I need to do in order to get ready.
I mean, we're already at June, I think, let's say June 3rd.
We're going to go to sleep and wake up and it's going to be Christmas Day.
Then what?
I don't know. What do you guys think?
Tell me down in the comments.
If you're out there and you think everything's coming at you fast, like the months and the years and everything, you're not alone because I feel it, too.
Maybe that's why we're here together now.
Not to be scared of it or fear it, but to respect it and embrace it because now we understand.
Because everything's going to pass anyway. I mean, we're eventually going to pass.
Time's just going to keep moving.
The only big thing, the years, the years and months and everything are going to pass.
You just want to make sure that they're going to pass while you're still living.
Thank all of you guys. I really appreciate your respect and your support.
A lot of you haven't subscribed yet. I'd like for you to go ahead and subscribe so we can continue on the journey because I can definitely tell you Chief Uncharted isn't done.
So, tell me down in the comments what you think about time moving so fast and how you recognized it.
We'll talk again soon.
