[00:00:00]Today's lesson is on wh words who, whose, whose, and whom. These words confuse students a lot, especially who's and whose. In today's lesson, you understand a clear difference and you'll be able to use each of them correctly in sentences. Okay, let's begin with who.

[00:02:28]So we use who for persons for humans alone. Now let's move on to the next word which is whose. We use whose to mean who is or who has.

[00:02:46]In other words, whose is the short form of who is and who has. So, it's an abbreviation. You remove I and put apostrophe. Here you remove H SS and put apostrophe. Now, let's look at few examples here. so that you understand better. Okay. Our first example is number three.

[00:03:18]To complete this sentence, we need who has who has already finished the assignment.

[00:03:33]HS is removed and replaced with apostrophe to make it whose.

[00:06:09]So the sentence is about ownership.

[00:06:16]That means whose should be here. Do you know whose jacket this is? Here [snorts] we are asking who owns the jacket. So whose is correct. Next example is number nine.

[00:06:35]This is a question asking about the owner of the keys.

So whom is perfect here. She couldn't remember whom she had spoken to. So here the person being talked about is represented as whom which is the receiver of the action and it is the object. Here we have the subject we performing the action but the person being referred to should be here whom which is the object or the receiver of the action. We asked whom they had chosen for the award.
