[00:00:00]What is up y'all? Welcome to another day of me not knowing what the [ __ ] I'm doing. In the last video, we painted the engine bay, the interior, the trunk, and I even polished my roll cage. Today, we are installing a wide body kit. We already got a wide body kit in the front, but these are overs for the rear.

[00:00:16]It's going to look something like this.

[00:00:18]Cut off wheel, seam sealer, riv nuts, bolts. These are cleco clamps to hold the fender in place. We got the rivnut gun, a clamp, hammers, water, a Dremel, and a welder. What do we do first?

[00:00:32]>> Start cutting.

[00:00:33]>> Before we start cutting the car up, we got to make our lines. I'm thinking something like that.

[00:00:42]Looks pretty good to me. And cut along the inside of the line.

[00:00:48]It's time to do some damage.

[00:01:00]Kyle's going to take over and he's going to cut out the inside so we can pull this piece off.

[00:01:14]Basically, we have to take this piece, hammer it up and connect it up here.

[00:01:19]Weld it all. Hit it with seam sealer. so no tire smoke gets inside the car. After that, we get to put the body kit on, line it up, and bolt it down. Before we start, we're going to have to sand down this whole section because when we weld, we need this metal to have more metal to attach to.

[00:01:40]Now, we're back with the big boy doing some relief cuts.

[00:01:53]I think the hammering is done. Looking pretty good, which means we can finally move on to welding. I don't really know how to weld. So, this is Kyle's department. What are we doing?

[00:02:02]>> So, do you want to somehow get pressure on this while I tack it? I don't know how we're going to do that. I don't know if you want like a 2x4.

[00:02:09]>> So, it needs to be touching when you tack it.

[00:02:16]While Kyle finishes up with the welds, I will be cutting up our over fender.

[00:02:20]There is way too much material inside the wheel well, so we already marked our line, and I'm just going to cut right against it. Okay, looks pretty good.

[00:02:34]The fender is cut. The welds are done.

[00:02:36]So now we're going to have to cut off all that extra material, shave it all down, sand it, prime it, and then we hit it with the seam sealer just to lock everything in so there's no more rust and the tire smoke doesn't get into the car.

[00:02:48]We're going to hit it with some primer.

[00:02:54]How long do I have to shake this thing for? Shake can thoroughly for 2 minutes.

[00:03:06]Now we got to wait 5 minutes before we do the second coat.

[00:03:14]The primer is dry, so it's finally time.

[00:03:17]Lock it in with seam sealer.

[00:03:21]Day number two. The seam sealer is dry, which means we finally get into the fun stuff. Before we drill any holes, let's give it a little test fit. Wow, looks pretty good. It lines up super well here and here and here. But if we look up top, we have some problems. We got extra material here. This isn't lined up very good, and neither is this.

[00:03:41]There's also a gap here, but there's not too much we could do about that. Right now, you can see that my fender is tucked underneath my bumper and my side skirt. Most people would bolt them together and put a bolt here, here, and here. But for a drift car, it's not such a good idea cuz if I'm on track and I lose my bumper, if it's bolted to my fender, my fender's going to be gone, too. So, I think what I have to do right now, so instead of bolting them together, I'm going to have to cut along this line and bolt them separately.

[00:04:08]Before we place the bolts or make any cuts, I'm going to make sure the fender is lined up perfect. So, I'm going to take this off, take this off, and tape my fender into place. Now that the fender's in place, I'm going to mark some holes and then insert the cleco clamps so when we take the fender off to cut it, we can put it back on the car in the exact same position. I'm going to mark it here. I want one up here and one way over here. I'm also going to measure roughly where I want all the other bolts to go.

[00:04:37]Okay, so that's 25 and 1/4 in. Divide that in half. 12.5 is 25 plus an eighth.

[00:04:49]My math is not mathing. I'm going to take a look at the riv nuts on my S13 to get a better idea of how I should do these ones. So, I see all the top ones are evenly spaced and all the side ones are shorter. I'm trying to put a bolt here, here, and here. And I'm just trying to fill in the gaps. The measurements have been made. So, now we can do some damage. Oh, I'm scared.

[00:05:11]We're going to take the cleco clamp, put it in here, and when we push down, it extends and gets skinnier. So, we could put it in, release, and it stays. Hole number two, followed by clamp number two. Nice. Hole number three. Now that it's locked in place, I just marked all my cut lines here, here, here, and here. So, I'm going to take it off and get to cutting. This material is made out of fiberglass. And if you don't know what that is, it's fibers of glass.

[00:05:44]So, when you're cutting it or shaving it, those fibers can get on your skin.

[00:05:47]It's very itchy. So, it's good to wear long sleeve, a mask, gloves, and eye protection. I'm going to do the lower section first so I get practice for the upper section. We want this section to be good because it's what people will see.

[00:06:03]Okay, let's see how that turned out.

[00:06:14]Does that line look perfect or does that line look perfect? Onto the next. I'm actually gonna hit it with some sandpaper to smoothing out the rough edge.

[00:06:45]Quick test fit. This side fits perfect.

[00:06:49]But I think I'm going to need to trim this side more. More cutting.

[00:07:05]That was pretty bad. I may have [ __ ] this one up. I think this cuts pretty good.

[00:07:11]I think this cut's good. But this cut here is bad. I don't know if you can see that, but because of the curve, they made it really difficult. Going to sand it down and hope it smooths everything out.

[00:07:26]Okay, let's see how she fits. I think that'll work.

[00:07:45][ __ ] Now that the kit fits perfect, we can go ahead and make our measurements for the bolts. I already marked them all on the top, but I need to do the sides and the bottom. I'm thinking I know I want a bolt in the corner here. And I'm going to need one close over here, too. So, I'm probably going to do three bolts here. One, two, three. And I don't know if I want to do two or three down here.

[00:08:06]If it's going to sit in like this, we're going to want one here. And I need to find the center point between here and here.

[00:08:15]And I'm doing all my bolts a half inch in from the edge. I think I'm going to just stick with two on the bottom here and here. All of the measurements are made. So now we get to drill some holes.

[00:08:26]Yikes. So first would be the pilot holes that go all the way around. And as we drill, we're going to fill the holes with the clamps.

[00:08:34]The reason we use these clamps is so the body kit doesn't move around when we do the holes on the bottom.

[00:08:43]Last one.

[00:08:45]All of the clamps will give you an idea of how the bolts will look. And now that all the pilot holes are drilled, we're going to take out a clamp and hit it with the bigger drill bit one by one.

[00:08:54]This drill bit will be big enough for our riv nut insert. This is basically a threaded insert that we're going to put inside the car so we can screw the body kit onto the car. This is nice because we'll be able to take this on and off whenever we want.

[00:09:08]Oh my [ __ ] Yikes.

[00:09:16]I don't know why this thing just ate up my fiberglass. What the [ __ ] Okay, new method.

[00:09:23]Before I hit this with the drill, I'm going to put tape over the hole and hit it with light pressure at low speed.

[00:09:44]Still okay. It's better. Still not very good.

[00:09:51]Like, it doesn't look that bad. I'm just not sure if this affects like the the structural integrity of the fiberglass.

[00:10:02]That's [ __ ] up. I need a different bit. Okay, here's the deal. I went to the store once and the bit that I got was too big. So, I went to the store again and got the right size bit. But this bit is chewing up the fiberglass.

[00:10:14]So, I asked Chad GPT what to do and I went back to the store for the third time and I got a step bit. This thing was 55 bucks. I hope it works.

[00:10:43]Jeez. Now I just repeat that process on all the holes.

[00:10:53]Guys, we are getting so close to the end of this. There's really only two more things left to do. I'm going to take this off and then I'm going to fill all of these holes. So, this is the threaded insert that goes in the car. We're going to put it on the riv nut tool. Just screw it on like this. And then we put this end in the hole.

[00:11:10]Make sure it's nice and flat.

[00:11:16]What this tool does is it actually crimps the insert on the other side of the car. Let me show you. So, we put the threaded insert on here, and when I push the handles together, it'll pinch the body of the car in between these two folds.

[00:11:32]That's so cool. I think it's important that these inserts go in straight.

[00:11:37]Otherwise, the bolts that screw into them are going to be all crooked. It's the last one.

[00:11:43]Now, the only thing left that we have to do is put the body kit back on and bolt it to the threads.

[00:11:51]If you're planning on doing this yourself, I would recommend against metal washers because they well crack because they will crack the fiberglass.

[00:11:59]I think you want to get nylon or neoprene, but I'm just doing metal washers for the sake of the video until my nice washers come in the mail. Oh my [ __ ] Now, I'm going to put the wheel on, put the car on the ground, and we'll see how it really looks. I should probably remove these shards of metal so I don't pop a tire.

[00:12:26]Nice. Now, I want to show you guys the car with both sides done, but I only did one side. The other side is still stock, and I'm going to use this side to make a short form video that drives views to this long form video. I wonder how long that's going to take.

[00:12:39]>> Not going to lie, that took me like 2 weeks, but less than 8 hours of labor.

[00:12:54]And although this is one of the biggest projects I've done on the car, it is tiny compared to what's coming. I'm not going to give it away yet, but I already have my new engine, and I've been spending months on research and ordering parts to meet our horsepower goals. When it's all said and done, we're going to tune this car to around 500 horsepower, capable of 1,000. We're going to give it a new wrap, new wheels, new seats, and basically turn this thing into a freaking monster. We've got a long ways to go, but the finish line is insight.
