Unlock Your Mind: Reality is a Brain Collaboration #shortsHinzugefügt:
Once you see that your brain is constructing your experiences in real time, that memory layer into perception, that prediction is doing half the work, and that the integration is happening faster than you can notice, a few things are going to become easier. First of all, you can hold your interpretation of a situation as separate from the situation itself, because those are two different things, and they were always two different things. You just couldn't see the seam before. Now you can notice before you react whether you're reading what's actually happening or you're running a forecast you wrote a long time ago. And of course, sometimes you'll catch it, sometimes you won't, but the catching gets easier with practice. Now you can hold your memory of an argument a little more loosely, knowing that your hippocampus was busy layering past arguments into the present one. You're not the only person who remembers a conversation differently than someone else. Everyone does. That's how it works. And of course, you can take the I'm just like this a little less seriously. The version of you that walked into the room is partially a prediction your brain wrote based on every previous version of you. Practice a different one for long enough, and that prediction starts updating. That's neuroplasticity working with predictive processing. Repeat a different loop, and your brain eventually starts forecasting the different one. The point is not that nothing's real. It's that the version of reality you're experiencing is a collaboration between your brain and the world. Because once you know it's happening, you stop taking your own first read so seriously and the world so personally.
