Barcelona’s dilemma highlights the unsustainable friction between elite sporting ambition and the cold reality of fiscal insolvency. Prioritizing high-efficiency metrics over structural financial health is a luxury a club in crisis simply cannot afford.

THE BIG QUESTION IN BARCELONA...Added:
Hello and welcome here to talk FCB and welcome back to the channel here today guys where indeed the vibes are still immaculate following Barca's win in La Liga sealed with a classicalico victory but today we are going to be talking about the big question. The big big question right now in Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window. The one thing even more so now since Cláico, it's Marcus Rashford. It is all about his future. Is there going to be a future here at Barca? For him, he wants it. He desperately wants that. But is it going to happen? And coming up today, we're going to be going through everything there. looking at his performances, looking at his style of play, you know, how he's fitted in to this squad right here. We're going to be going over what's been said by him, by the club as well. And of course, most importantly, the financial side of all of this and some of those important implications looking ahead to the transfer window, guys. So, it's all coming up for you.
Let's get on with it now. Come on.
Because indeed, last night was absolutely fantastic, wasn't it? I'm sure all of you there tuned in to the parade or parts of it there. The Barcelona team made their way right around the city and the fans in attendance. Absolutely extraordinary scenes there. And I I just love it. I love everything about these parades because you see such genuine emotion.
You know, you see sides to players that maybe you don't always get to see, you know, when they're out there on the field when they're being very very professional at all times. you know, all the emotion, all of the feeling, it comes out, you know, after a season of really hard work, being locked in, being focused, being so so disciplined. And I thought it was great to see them all there on the bus, relaxing and enjoying exactly what they have achieved and savoring that there with the fans. We had young and old mixing together. We had Chznney and Leandowski on one end.
We also had then down the others, you know, Lamasia players who are soaking this in and really, really enjoying it.
So, I thought it was amazing to see all of the players there celebrating. It's welld deserved and it's exactly what we as fans want to be seeing and want to be doing every single season. BUT OF COURSE, GUYS, ONE OF those members of the squad who was certainly celebrating and maybe wondering in the back of his mind, am I going to get to do this again? And that's not only because Rashford would have to go back to Man United, you know, are they going to be doing a parade anytime soon? WE DON'T KNOW. But on the side of Barca, he is thinking, can I stay here? You know, is it possible? Is it going to be achievable that I continue at the club?
And of course, this has gained even more weight since the weekend. You know, his goal against Real Madrid, it was absolutely phenomenal. And what I found quite extraordinary about this was that the way that he struck it, it looked as though he played that picture out in his mind, you know, a hundred times, that he'd been practicing it nonstop and that he had no doubt at all in his mind what he was going to do. The crazy thing is he was considering not shooting, you know, and I think we heard all of that after the game there. There was a fantastic interview. He sort of crashed Fane Torres's interview on the field and Farane was saying, "Look, the guy wasn't going to shoot. He wasn't doing well in training. He wasn't going to take it on." But boy will be so glad he did.
>> Yeah. Like he's >> all right. Never mind.
>> We We signed today a new player with new hair.
>> Well, a good player at that.
>> Very good player. Now it's his time.
It's your time, bro.
>> I tried.
>> Hey, he didn't want to shoot the the free kick.
>> You asked him. You asked him to shoot.
>> Everyone Everyone wanted So, can I let you into a secret? Me and Ali were sitting pitch side and it looked like you were going to cross it and I said to him, "You can't cross from there. Surely that's too good a position to not shoot."
>> But I don't know when I put the ball, I didn't have the feeling that uh to score. But after everybody is telling me to shoot, I I built the confidence myself.
>> It was because yesterday in the training, he didn't score. He didn't score. No, no, go.
>> Why did you want to try again?
>> It's true. Also, >> can I tell you I'm going to let you into a secret, too. He didn't believe that you were going to score either because he had a instead of putting the videograph, he took a photo. He didn't take a video.
>> Marcus, I I wanted to ask you because you arrived to Barcelona, you play in different positions. We don't know what is going to happen in the future, but we would like to know how how have you been feeling? How how has been your adaptation to to a club like Barcelona?
>> Oh, it's been it's been good. Listen, I came here to to win and and we do this.
So, um I am I'm very happy. I enjoy tonight with everybody. Um and then yeah, when the end of the season, we will see.
>> What? Hey, >> have you got Have you got the power to have you got the power to ensure that Marcus stays? Can Can you do that?
>> No, he has no power more than him. Much more.
>> But you have as much power as the president. Can you say, "Right, Marcus, here's the deal. Make sure you stay next season."
>> Yeah, he's a really good guy and I think we can continue with him.
>> And I think that interview there in itself alongside of Farah, you know, you can see there's a real good feeling. You know, I think Rashford has very much been here, welcomed into the Barcelona squad. And I think for a lone player, it's not always easy, especially one like him there coming from the Premier League, English international, of course, there's nobody else in the squad who is English. And I think for him coming out to Barca, you know, making that adventurous step, it's been really important and really great, I feel, to see him fitting in well with the squad.
You know, the dress room has welcomed him very, very nicely. He's really now a part of that and you could see that in the interview. He feels comfortable here. He feels confident. he's been working as well on his Spanish. So things really as the season have gone on have only got better and better for Rashford in terms there of integrating himself and fully becoming a Barca player. But will it be continuing?
Because I think if we do now focus on Hansy Flick because let's not make any mistake here, he is a vital part of all of this. It's going to be his preference really that will go a long way to deciding should Rashford continue. And my personal opinion is Flick really liked Rashford. You know, we can't forget that Flick was a massive part, the driving force really behind him arriving at the club in the first place.
Flick was a big fan of him. I think he saw Rashford as a bit of a project. You know, somebody coming in who wasn't playing their best football, wasn't feeling good, and look what he's been able to do. It's been a big big success there. And what Flick really wants in his squad is depth. He wants quality options right throughout his team. We've seen all of the injuries that we've got this season, so many games that we play.
Flick knows he needs quality players to call upon and he makes sure Flick to make everybody in the squad feel important. So even at times if Rashford hasn't been playing, hasn't been starting games, he's still there. He's still a vital piece of this team. And that is why when he does come on, when he does make appearances, he is looking to make them count. So in my opinion, Flick is a big fan of Rashford. I still believe that he wants more out of him.
We're going to be talking about that here today, too. But I do think he's a believer in him. And I do think if he had his way, he would like to keep him within his squad moving into next season. And let's be real, guys, one of the driving forces behind that opinion from Flick. It's the end product. It is what Rashford is able to do in the final third there. The way that he's able to affect games. And like I say, it doesn't matter if he's starting. He doesn't need to play the full 90 minutes to have an impact on a game. He has been so so productive in the final third in gamedeciding moments. And that is vital in La Liga this season. He has eight goals and seven assists. So 15 contributions in total in front of goal in 16 starts. 15 contributions in 16 starts. He has played 30 games overall.
But when you break down the minutes there, he has had a goal contribution every 105 minutes in La Liga. So just over there, one goal contribution every single game that he's played in terms of minutes. That is impressive. You know, over the course of a league season, those big contributions, those big actions in front of goal, they are going to prove to be decisive. And even more so if this is somebody who's coming off the bench and giving you that kind of impact having that in your squad is very very valuable. But then you look at the Champions League and I actually say here the numbers certainly the numbers here they go to another level. Champions League. Five goals for Rashford, three assists in five starts, 11 appearances overall. But again, a goal contribution when you break down the minutes every 72 minutes. That is extraordinary. Here in, you know, Europe's elite competition in the Champions League, big games, big moments, he is contributing something significant every 72 minutes of play.
And I do believe here if he would have been more decisive against Atletico Madrid and we know the chances were there in the Champions League, he was getting in to brilliant positions. He was causing them no end of problems. But he couldn't put away the chances. If he had done, this wouldn't even be a conversation. We wouldn't even be saying, "Oh, should Rashford stay?
Shouldn't he?" That would have been it.
End of discussion. But of course, at times his game can be a bit erratic. You know, I will hold my hands up and say Rashford has some brilliant moments.
Then he will have a few where he's a little bit messy and untidy on the ball.
Off the ball as well is certainly something that Flickers wanted more from him. But in terms of the end product, like I say, even somebody here who comes off the bench, you cannot deny he makes an impact. You know, very rarely does he come on and you think, well, I've barely seen him. What has he done? You know, what's he actually done to impact the game? He will do something. He will give you something there. Whether it's his pace in behind, whether it's the way that he can position himself, he can get into very dangerous positions there. He can bring others into the game, you know, set pieces as well. He's absolutely fantastic for Barca. So, I think there's lots of reasons he is stacking up in Rashford's favor, he is so effective. And to be fair, in very very little game time and that is also interesting looking ahead to a potential second season because that's the thing right here and this is the question here that I would pose to you right now guys.
This is his first season. What we have just seen right now is his first season outside of the Premier League, first season in La Liga, first season at a club like Barca. He is still ultimately acclimatizing to all of that. And do not forget that when he joined Barca, his confidence was on the floor. He was an absolute shadow of the footballer that he once was. He was nowhere near his best. And look how much he's improved already. Look how much he's elevated his game. I think he's learning every day, learning from his teammates, learning about the club, learning of course from Hansy Flick. And I think there's a real argument here, a real case to be made that actually next season and beyond he could get even better. You know, there is no doubt in my mind that Rashford could he has the potential to go from strength to strength. Given what we've seen from him this season, given the way that he has been able to improve as the season has gone on, there is every chance that with more time, with more coaching here, with a clearer understanding of Barca's style of play, he could get better and better and better. But, okay, it's time to talk finances. It's time to crunch the numbers here then on what it would take to get him. If you do think that he should stay, if you do think that okay, let's keep him on. Let's sign him permanently and let's see what he can do. Well, it's going to cost you €30 million. That is the buy option that was agreed ahead of the loan from Manchester United. Barca agreed 30 million. It's an option, not an obligation. But if they pay the 30 million, Man United can't do anything. They can't ask for more money.
It is an option there that can be activated by Barca. Now what's interesting about this though, it's not just about the 30 million for me. The bigger question would be what is the structuring of that deal there? Because is it going to be 30 million paid immediately? Are we talking here a lump sum of 30 million in one accounting year? Is that going to be paid straight to Man United? And of Barca going to come up with the cash like they had to for Joan Garcia. That was a release clause from Espanol. He had to get the money. It had to be paid there and then or Abas are going to try and angle here to maybe spread the cost to maybe do something that many many clubs do out there right now. They spread the cost over multiple years and they pay the fee in installments. That would be two completely different deals. 30 million up front is a big chunk of cash. 30 million spread out over four or five years that is a lot more manageable for a club LIKE BARCA. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL.
It's not just about the transfer fee. In my opinion, the bigger obstacle thinking about La Liga, thinking about FFP, the restrictions that we are under. The biggest obstacle is going to be the wages because we if we buy Rashford permanently, we're going to have to agree there a four, five-year contract.
And what is that package going to look like? Because obviously this season, we've been able to make Rashford's wages work at Barca. It's only one year. It's just one season here that we've had to agree. Now think about four or five.
That is a BIG BIG STEP UP in terms of salary over that period of time. Can Barca agree a suitable wage with Rashford? But here's the thing, and this is the positive spin that I would put on this. Rashford wants to stay though. I mean, Rashford is absolutely desperate to stay. And I think he also strengthens Barca's hand because he's made it clear.
He has made it obvious to anybody that will listen, I want to continue there. I want to be a boss. I want to keep this going. He has said that openly and publicly and he did so yet again after the game against Real Madrid.
>> Are you going to stay? Do you think so?
>> I don't know. I I I am not magician now, but if I was, I would stay. Um I would stay. So, we will see.
>> And I think that's vital both from Barca's point of view in terms of agreeing wages there. You would imagine that if Rashford really is that desperate to stay, could Barca use that there in the negotiations for that overall contract? And I would also say if they're trying to negotiate in some way with Man United, sure, Man United could say, "Look, we'll bring Rashford back in. We could sell him to the highest bidder. His stock is going up and up and up. But if Rashford only wants Barca, that does complicate things a bit. That does mean that maybe you've got to be a little bit open. Barca, you know, it's been reported they want a second loan deal. I never I never expect that to happen. I think Man United want money. If we're going to get Rashford, we're going to have to pay up. But what is the structuring of that deal going to be? And can you agree suitable wages that come in line with our structure at the club and that also can get through those FFP issues that Barcel have faced over the past seasons? Those are the big questions. And the overall big question is should Rashford continue? Has he done enough? Have you seen enough from him to go out and spend €30 million on him this coming summer? That is what I need to know from you in the comments down below. Don't wait around. Tell me right now. Should we keep him? Would you sign him? And can you see it happening at the end of the season? Guys, please do let me know all of those thoughts down below. I'll be waiting to hear from each and every one of you. And thank you indeed for the fantastic support on the channel, for all of the good vibes right now. I'll see all of you very soon indeed. BUT UNTIL NEXT TIME, AS ALWAYS, veska yasa.
