Retail store sales can remain consistent over longer time periods (such as weekly or monthly) even when individual days show unpredictable variations in customer traffic and sales volume; successful retail operations require multiple customer acquisition strategies including maintaining an online presence (website, Google Maps), leveraging social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, using street signage, and building customer relationships through newsletters, while also managing inventory through systematic sorting and preparation for upcoming sales periods.

Every Week Of Sales In My Retail Store Is Different, But So Far ConsistentAdded:
Hello everybody. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening.
It's Andrew from 510 books.
And it [clears throat] is Thursday.
Excuse me.
I should really clear my throat before I start talking. It is Thursday, April 23rd, 2026.
And I just closed the store. Although I'm closing a little bit early, so I do that sometimes when I have some things I have to do. Uh it's only about 20 minutes early though, so it's not that much.
Hopefully, well I won't Hopefully no one shows up right now while I'm making the video, but um it's not, you know, too early.
But uh yeah, today's Thursday.
Uh I was looking at the numbers for the store.
And it's just a strange little factoid that between Monday and Thursday of last week for my store I looked at the sales that I had the cumulative sales, the gross sales compared to this week, so now it's Thursday, so Monday through Thursday of this week is literally the exact amount. I mean, not down to the penny, but down to the dollar.
It's off by like 60 cents.
But I thought that was bizarre, and that's, you know, that's just a random thing that doesn't in the grand scheme of things is not that important, but I thought it was very strange. And also, not just that it's a weird like number uh coincidence dollar coincidence, whatever you want to call it, but the fact that um or but also that last week Monday was very busy for me.
Uh it was one of the busiest Mondays I'd had in a while.
And it included a lot of new people who came into the store.
Monday this week was about half of what I did last Monday. Although it was fairly busy in the sense of I had a good amount of people come in.
Uh my overall sales weren't weren't nearly as much.
Um and then today, Thursday last week was pretty slow, but today was busy.
Um and I had really good sales today.
But yet, in the first 4 days of each week, it comes out to be the same amount.
So, that's what I mean when I talk about you know, it's hard to be consistent. It has been hard for me to be consistent in the store.
But yet, well, I shouldn't say that. I've been pretty consistent in terms of throughout for week-by-week. When you take longer periods of time look at longer periods of time, more days. Um so, 6 days that I'm open during the week, when I look at that, those chunks of 6 days week-by-week, I've been pretty consistent this year.
But when you look down into each week, it's always different, right? So, sometimes Mondays are the busiest, sometimes like this week so far, Thursday's been the busiest. Sometimes Saturday's the busiest. Sometimes a Friday will pop off.
You know, you never know.
But um so far uh I'll you know, so far, yeah, it's been pretty consistent in 2026 now that we're in the end nearing the end of April, almost 4 months through the year.
Um and you know, aside from a couple of slower weeks during spring break which I think had a direct impact, um it's picked back up last week, and this week it's the same so far after 4 days.
So, to me that says, you know, Friday and Saturday are what they have been in the past couple of weeks. Uh I should have a solid week, but of course again, you never know.
Friday could be slower, Saturday could be slower, or they could both be busy. I don't know.
Um it's hard to tell. The only things that I can do uh in the store, like I know with eBay, the things you do to to drum up sales are list a lot every day, as many as items as you can.
Um accept offers, as in each item you list should have the option to accept offers.
Also send out offers as you as as items become eligible for offers. And run discount sales. Those are the ways that you can generate sales. Um but listing [clears throat] quality items at prices that people are willing to pay for that's a profit, good profit for you is is always the best thing. The other ways are are ways after you've listed an item to to sell those items quicker um and that kind of thing.
So, with with retail, with my retail store, I can only talk about mine. Um how do I get new people in here? Well uh I have my signs on the street. I have an online presence, whether it's my website, or whether it's being on Google Maps, being able to be found because I've been here long enough so that when someone searches, where however they're searching through their phone typically these days, um they will find me for, you know, keywords, right? Like used bookstore, like um record store shop, like movie store, video games, that kind of thing.
Uh my store will pop up locally for them if they're fairly close to where I'm uh where I am, you know, maybe within, I don't know, 5 or 10 miles, maybe more, 20, who knows. But definitely if they're within about 10 or so miles, they're going to probably find me um that way. And of course, social media, right? Mostly it's been TikTok that is driving that, but I also people find me through Instagram and even Facebook occasionally. At least they tell me.
So, those are the ways that I can drive people to the store.
Um [clears throat] and it compounds over time. Today I had some new people in. Um a fair amount of new people today, actually. I start to lose track of how many, you know, day-by-day, week-by-week. I start to lose track of the faces or or can't remember quite remember how how many were new people today, but there was a fair amount.
Couple people or a person signed up for the newsletter.
Uh I added a couple people to the newsletter. And someone, you know, also signed up for the newsletter by scanning it cuz I have the option to scan as well. Uh um and then just through their phone sign up for it. So, that's good. People signed up today. But um you know, uh those are the ways, right? So, anyway, it was fairly busy today, but I was able to continue to make a dent um in in in in unsorted inventory, and also uh prepared for next week. So, I photographed and video videoed everything. Um took videos and photographs of all the new inventory that's going out next week. That's all done. [clears throat] My TikTok and Instagram posts are set up. So, I just have to do the newsletter probably on Saturday when I'll do that.
Uh so, that's that's great cuz tomorrow I have my employee coming in.
>> [clears throat] >> And uh I won't be here in this space. I'll be in my other space working. But uh today uh I was able to also then get into uh what do you call it?
Into >> [sighs] >> is it my yeah, another another box of um DVDs. So, I'm close.
I've just got this little stack to scan through. And these are are are ones I'm probably going to mostly pull DVDs from.
So, I'm almost done with that box.
Um and I will only have nine more DVD boxes of DVDs to go through, so it's not that much. Um but uh turn this off.
The Eco Pro 2. Um So, anyway, yeah, still a decent amount, but it takes time because well, it takes time, right? I mean, I I'm not just sorting for online. So, I'm obviously I have to see if I have it on the shelves.
And so, it takes a bit of time to do this process with DVDs. Uh books, well, anyway, it it just takes time. So, and then when I went to get the the box of DVDs I I just I saw that I had some CDs sitting there next to them that are not from that.
They're from some uh a local pickup that I didn't realize I had.
So, I'm like, wow, I have more CDs over there that I haven't gone through, which is good.
Um which is good, but uh yeah, which is good.
>> [laughter] >> So, I don't know exactly how many there are. It looks like it could be a decent amount. Um someone so, that's going to be something I'm going to be going through because CDs I'm running low on. I got more records and I and I and I have tons of DVDs. I still a good amount of of Blu-rays, but I need more video games and CDs at this point. Anyway, so I'm going to take off now, but it was a good day today.
Um I appreciate you guys watching. I'll see you in the next video. Take care.
