[00:00:02]So, today I want us actually to talk about Tiv as a word, as a concept. When you hear the word Tiv, what comes to your mind?

[00:00:11]Actually, that's why you have me.

[00:00:14]So, the word Tiv is used to mean four things.

[00:00:21]First, it is a group of people.

[00:00:24]Secondly, it is the area occupied by Tiv people.

[00:00:31]Thirdly, it is used to refer to the father or the ancestor of the Tiv people. And then, fourthly, it is a language spoken by them.

[00:00:47]The Tiv people actually occupy the area in the Benue Valley. They are prominently found in Benue State, although they can also found in Nasarawa State and Taraba State.

[00:01:03]Tiv is the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria. You can quote me anyway.

[00:01:11]And it has a population of over 6 million people.

[00:01:17]These people are predominantly farmers, although others engage in craft, hunting, fishing because of the presence of the River Benue.

[00:01:30]And then, others are also into trading.
