But pure water by itself actually doesn't conduct electricity well at all. What is the conducting are the tiny dissolved minerals and impurities inside it. Salt, metals, even trace ions, those are the real carriers. Which means most water we deal with isn't really just water. It's a mixture. So when electricity moves through it, it's not the water doing the work. It's everything in it.
