I don't know what's going on with all that, but we'll see what happens today. Maybe it's all the diags without repairs. Oh, this key I looked at yesterday with the two doors that don't work. Supposedly, another shop just fixed all that and the warranty company paid them for it, but it's not done. So, that'll probably be going back to that place, too, I'm guessing. We'll see. But we got a couple of drop offs out in the parking lot.

[00:02:34]2013 Dodge. It says 33,000 miles on the clock. I just assumed it was like a 2019. My goodness. This truck's a cream puff.

[00:02:52]brake pedal feels okay right now, but he says the pedal went to the floor and he had to pump the pedal.

[00:02:59]Well, we're going to take a look and see what happened. Well, it's almost ready for tires, but uh it's got new brakes, but you can see that they have been smoking and that means caliper or hose.

[00:03:12]So, what I'll do is I'll lift it up.

[00:03:14]I'll get someone to step on the brake pedal and let go. And this will probably drag.

[00:03:20]So then what I'll do is I'll open the bleeder and if the pedal loosens right up, it's either the ABS or the brake hose keeping hydraulic pressure on the brake caliper. If I loosen the bleeder and it doesn't loosen up, then it's the caliper mechanically sticking and not releasing.

[00:03:37]And then we'll go from there and see what he wants to do with all new brakes.

[00:03:39]I wonder if we did them. Someone's just done them all the way around.

[00:03:43]So we'll do the inspection. We'll get past that part. Lift it up and come back with the wheels off of this thing. Step on. Step on the brakes.

[00:04:35]Not that doing a brake job causes this problem, but I want to remember. I want to say I remember doing a ABS pump for the ABS light.

[00:06:34]So, the hose is bad. Now, the caliper's been fried anyway. So, needs both. But at least the ABS works.

[00:06:50]I miss having a magnet in my pocket screwdriver. It's super handy when you drop a screw cuz you can get pretty good reach. Anyway, moving on the brakes. My parts are starting to roll in.

[00:07:01]So, I've got a 21, a 13, and a 15 for the brake hose. I've already got the wrenches I use to test stuff and bleed stuff. Let's get this thing off of there.

[00:07:14]Shouldn't be nothing but a thing. I'll have to disassemble the new caliper.

[00:07:18]Comes with the bracket and everything.

[00:07:20]So, usually what I'll do is I'll bolt it on and then unbolt the caliper from one side, swing it away so I can get my hardware in and all I have to. But less talk more do.

[00:07:47]All depends on the volume of thread lock whether that trick works.

[00:07:52]The thread lock volume is too high or it's not going to happen.

[00:08:05]I think there's nubs on these pads that keep the pistons from lifting off. So, you got to it's got to go back like a quarter inch. Otherwise, doesn't clear.

[00:10:26]Now, this replacement caliper might not have the same size bolts, and it doesn't. That's cool. Can be a 14, probably. Yep. 15's loose. 13 of the original one and it's too small. So, let me grab one of them.

[00:10:50]And this is how mechanics end up with spare heart. Look how cheap. And look at those things.

[00:11:26]Now, when these are new, these they're terrible. There's grease everywhere. All right, I keep having to wipe extra grease off. It gets wasted.

[00:11:42]I'm going to put some over the hardware, too. Well, notice, right? This one has it on the pads. The hardware attaches to the pads on these. So, let's make this a little nicer. You don't want it to get pushed into the rotor.

[00:11:59]usually be labeled if there is or you'll visually see a difference. I don't see any I don't see anything on these.

[00:12:07]I guess these little assist springs didn't do anything to stop this problem.

[00:12:12]I think they're more for noise than anything else.

[00:12:26]All we can do now is transfer over the brake hose and bleed these brakes.

[00:13:18]This is either a 10 or 11. And there's a 14 on the brake hose.

[00:13:53]And once I unscrew that, the caliper is free from its nest.

[00:17:20]Every I don't know why. Every single bolt and nut is a different size bleeder. Brake line fittings. The only thing the same is the bolts I didn't change.

[00:17:39]Once we start getting some good fluid, we'll knock out the other side. In the meantime, I'll put my core back together, get it in the box, ready to go back to the part store.

[00:18:03]All right, two wheels are done. I'm going to hit the brake pedal a couple times. You guys might know if you've been around a little bit. I'm going to hit the brake pedal a couple times, get it pumped up really well, then check the bleeders for air again. I'll probably do it a couple times depending on how the pedal feels and uh how I feel about it.

[00:18:21]And of course, we're going to have a nice long road test to make sure there's not going to be any more problems. I mean, for all I know, there is something going on with the ABS and it caused the heat and maybe that damages the hose afterwards. You just got to be you got to be sure before you give it back.

[00:18:35]Nothing worse than a customer that got their vehicle towed in that has it towed back in after you work on it again.

[00:19:37]I didn't hear any noises in the parking lot. We're going to lift it up, have us a look. And bear in mind, the ABS is really easy to change. Maybe it needs one of those.

[00:20:37]We will however remove the rear brakes because the rear brakes are down around 3 mm on this wheel on the outer. Not really easy to see the inner. So we'll definitely take the wheels off. It's probably a squealer touching I'm guessing somewhere.

[00:20:53]Yeah, this pad's even maybe a half a millimeter or so. I can see that by Yeah, you're right. You heard me. I'm going to grab a 19 and get these wheels off of here.

[00:21:27]Allen bolts in here. It's got electric parking brake. But, uh, as someone told me that watches my videos, they said, "You know, you don't have to take the motor off. It'll screw back in." I'm like, "What?" I just assumed you might hurt something. So, for years, I've been taking it all apart.

[00:33:09]Uh, pretty clean car. 127,000 mi on this Lexus Point GS430. I did I did find the airbox was open and that rock. It wasn't properly closed. I'm wondering if she was hearing something or not. I I fixed it cuz I saw it was it wasn't closed right. I may have fixed it accidentally.

[00:33:30]I'm going to look for die in this before I do the suspension arms. The arm shouldn't be too arm shouldn't be too hard on this. But I probably got to find I'm guessing I got to find a wheel lock key, too, cuz I doubt these hot rod wheels are going around unlock.

[00:34:13]I don't think these arms will be too bad, but you got to take the sway bar, the strut, the lower ball joint. This goes mounts going up. So, you got to take it off the spindle. And I don't I don't think they'll come with it. I'm not sure. And then you got these two bushings. If I can find a wheel lock key, shouldn't be a problem. They're all wheel locks, but I want to see if I can find some dye first. The problem is they're paying me a half hour to find dye. And uh it take a half hour to get all these covers off. Not for nothing.
