The video effectively exposes the hypocrisy of those who leverage inherited privilege while simultaneously demanding the prestige of a self-made narrative. It correctly asserts that while family ties may open the door, only exceptional merit can truly silence the critics.

Funny how they want to enjoy nepotism, but don’t want to be called Nepo babies
Added:There's so many reasons I don't watch the view, but a clip came across my feed and before I could even flip it was Whoopi Goldberg being like, "Well, you know, my daughter doesn't like being called a Nepo hire, a Nepo baby."
But she is in fact a Nepo baby. So, she she's got a Nepo job. She just doesn't like it being called out. Well, you know, she's worked really hard to get where she is. No, by by definition, nepo, short for nepotism, is somebody is given an interview, a job, an award, a scholarship, an opportunity, an interview, something simply because of who they came out of or their relationship thereof. If you got a job because your dad's best friend's roommate in college owns the company, that is nepotism. They don't have to be biologically related to you. You got a job of because who you came out of.
Well, you know, it's like calling somebody out as a DEI hire. Sorry. Are you women on the view unaware that you're all DEI hires? You were specifically chosen for your age in order to appeal to the largest possible demographic. It's not an accident.
There's a 20some and a 30some and a 40some. They are chosen for their age.
The other demographics are a bonus, but they are specifically chosen in order to appeal to the largest audience. Your show is is by definition DEI hiring, especially because half of your table are the ones who, you know, receive the most out of DEI hiring, which is women over 40. You got a 40, a 50, and a 60.
You guys are by definition DEI hires, bitching about being labeled DEI hires, while your kids are enjoying nepotism because of your DEI hire. I mean, whoopee's been around a bit longer, but it's not saying that your kid isn't qualified. It's saying that your kid got told that there was an interview and either got skipped to the front of the line or other people weren't even told there was a line to get on. It's not that they can't do the job, it's that they got an advantage to get the job. I mean, look, there are many mapo babies in this world. You know, your dad owns the company and your first job as VP of sales at your dad's company. Nepatism.
We find it a bit more egregious when it is celebrities. Mainly because the Nepo babies aren't as talented. Just because you're the son of a great actor doesn't mean you will be a great actor. Just because your dad was a great CEO of the company doesn't mean you're going to be one. So, it is frustrating to people who are working just trying to hold on to their jobs who constantly get pushed back to the line because they weren't pushed out of the right person. It's absolutely acceptable to label a Nepo baby a nepo baby. And if the Nepo baby then proves they belong to be there, great. But if they are just continuously given film credits, film job without any real acting talent, there's a reason Nepo babies make like two, maybe three films and then they evaporate. There's a reason companies handed over to the inept son go under. You weren't the best candidate for the job. You were given the job because of who you came out of.
Sometimes you prove you deserve to be there, but you did get in on an advantage. you don't like being labeled that way is that we're supposed to pretend that all things are fair and you're down here with the rest of us when you're not. If you prove it, you prove it great. But pretending like you didn't get a step up. We're not supposed to make you feel bad for the fact that you got ahead of every one of us. We're not fans cuz we're all in this together and you guys wear t-shirts in March. But you know, because of your parents, your first apartment is a one-bedroom midtown. Everybody else's bedroom is a five-bedroom, which is realistically a one-bedroom in Brooklyn. They just put up a lot of curtains and made it a five- bedroomedroom. Every part of your existence is easier because your struggle is less because you were not only given an advantage, generally in nepotism, there's a little bit of extra money involved. You didn't have to stress how you were going to pay for school. You didn't have to stress how you were going to get the first break in the film industry. I know I was on set with my mom when I was five, and that's how I got my first IMDb credit. There are people who have been extras for decades just trying to get enough speaking enough speaking roles in order to just get a SAG card so they could just get insurance and at five you just happen to be on set and they just happen to put you in the film and you just happen to speak the 22 words required.
So obsessed with labeling everything what it is. Like this is book talk and this is gardening talk and this is this and this is that and this is that. But like the one group that definitely did something to get labeled for like, "Oh, you can't put a label on us." Yes.
Yes, we can. And when you have to get your mommy and daddy to defend you, that makes it even worse. I mean, Tik Tok is full of people trying to get the Nepo baby advantage. Everybody loves me because, you know, they see the Tik Tok when my dad's here and they're like, "Yeah, the only reason people are watching your Tik Toks is because your dad might show up in the back or your last name is like Scorsese." It's not that your content isn't interesting, but you have to admit that the reason that you have a million followers instead of a thousand followers is because of your last name. Even if you don't do anything in the industry related to them, you have an advantage. You know, there's a reason con artists use like the last name Rockefeller. People just make an assumption about the Rockefellers. Kate Winslet a while back gave an interview, too. She's like, "Oh, my son gets s so much hassle. You know, he gets called the Nepo baby. Where is he working? Oh, is he working in film? Is he the guy fetching coffee?" No. Oh, assistant director. He's how old? Yeah. I mean, just admit you're advantage and then prove yourself. And you could so easily wipe out the label, but instead you spend so much time screaming and having your parents defend yourself. It makes it twice as bad. What frustrates us all, especially right now, in the good times, people care a little less. The tougher the times get, the more frustrated people get that you've taken the advantage. You took the express lane. I mean, people get pissed that, you know, in my well, in New Jersey, I don't know if this is everywhere, you can get a shield from the PBA. And basically, if it's on your car, you essentially know the cops aren't going to pull you over or if you get pulled over, you're going to get a ticket for a broken light instead of the fact that you were going like 180 m an hour over the speed limit.
People get pissed about that. You think they're going to stay chill about a Nepo baby situation? There's going to be more backlash to Nepo babies than less. Maybe buckle down and prove yourselves instead of just fighting the label. The fastest way to beat the allegations is to [ __ ] be great at your job.
