Godly truth is objective and transcendent, originating from God and revealed through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, requiring believers to be Christ-centered, rely on the Holy Spirit for revelation, and actively apply truth through action, humility, and ongoing self-examination rather than treating it as subjective opinion or mere knowledge transfer.

Episode 114 - Godly TruthAdded:
Hello and welcome to this episode of for your journey. Chief Apostle Schneider and the Pentecost service really focused on truth and talking about how the spirit is a spirit of truth. We wanted to provide a space for district Apostle Schnabble to expand on that and and provide any additional commentary on how we should see truth and particularly godly truth.
Yes, thank you Travis. It was quite a service for all of us for a lot of different reasons, but hearkening back to the theme of the service of truth.
It's a it's an amazing concept. Uh the Lord Jesus basically says that I am the way, the truth, and the life. Right away, he comes forward and he defines it um in a a very uh nice way. And that as the disciples are with him, they understand more and more. But I think they generate as many questions as they do answers. Uh they're not in Pilate's camp. You know, the chief apostle spoke about that too. He said, you know, you know what is the truth? I the disciples at least knew, okay, you're the Christ.
Peter said that. You're the Christ.
Okay. So, uh and the Lord Jesus had a very interesting retort to that. Well, you know, flesh and blood has not revealed that to you. Only my father in heaven has. So really, truth comes from God and it is it is this enlightenment that has to happen. And not only that, we must grapple with it directly. It's not just um it's not a transfer of knowledge. It's not a downloading.
uh it's us experiencing God and understanding that that's the way that's the truth that's the life and that I think really came across uh nicely in the service such that you know you walk away and you say okay there is objective truth there is objective truth >> yeah it it's not something that's founded on our own opinion or experiences rather it's it's outside of us it transcends our human experience when we're talking about godly truth you know And so what do we either how do we um continue to make sure that we are seeing and interacting with godly truth versus something that might not be from God. And then what do we what do we do?
Like is there an action item that we should be actively pursuing?
>> Well, I think the first thing that we have to do is be Christ centered. Sounds >> sounds obvious.
>> You would expect this out of this this this conversation for me to say Christians. That's a good starting point. Yeah, >> always a good s but but that's that's the source of truth. Again, the source of truth is that but we receive it from the Holy Spirit. That's the job. The job the first job of the Holy Spirit is to show us Christ. You know, it's like putting Christ up on a pedestal, putting Christ on the stage where everything is black and a and a spotlight's on him.
This is how you're supposed to act. This is what you're supposed to do. And gives you godly logic. Again, you have to pray for it. And then you have to act according to the gospel. But that's what that's what happened to the disciples.
You know, we were reading together with the apostles yesterday out of uh Acts 15. This is when they had the conference of the apostles and all of a sudden they're deciding what to do. Do we do the Gentiles now coming in, do they have to practice the Jewish laws or not? Do they have to uh be kosher? Do they have to circumcise? all these all these types of questions. The Lord obviously didn't tell them the answer.
Didn't tell them. All of a sudden, they're thinking through the problem.
They're utilizing their ministry.
They're utilizing the gift of the Holy Spirit and truth comes to them.
>> But you you cannot just be in a in in the service and and and and hear truth and then say, "Okay, okay, that's the truth. Good. I'm going to do this in my life." And then and then you go into your life and then you don't do anything about it. Unlocking truth is doing.
It's doing. That's what it is.
>> Yeah. I think that's interesting what you're connecting these dots here that it's nothing that we um again create on our own. We discover the truth of what God has already revealed. We we un like you're saying that we unlock it. We kind of see it more clearly because godly truth is is constant. And one of the ways perhaps uh to gauge if it's godly truth or not is like you're saying that the spirit puts a spotlight on Christ.
What what does this say about uh whatever I'm struggling with is is it true or not? What does this say about God? What does it say about his character, about his consistency, about his eternalness, about all these things?
You know, that's a way to gauge.
>> And you have to be humble, right?
Because as as God's children, I think we we I don't know, some of us are on one side of the boat, the other us are on side the other side of the boat, and then sometimes we switch sides in the middle of the of the stream, so to speak, where we're we're too um we we try to depend upon our self-confidence and our abilities too much. And we must be humble. I mean, God is we have to realize everything comes out of God's hand. Even in our career, in in what we're going to pick, if we're in college, as as as a as a the coursework that we're going to do, ev everything because the chief apostles said, "The Holy Spirit can also lead us into truth about who we are because he created us. He's going to tell us who we are." You know, we we sometimes are too self reliant and the the spirit says, "No, you're sinful. you need you need some help. Okay. But then we're on the other side of the boat. All of a sudden, I'm terrible. I I I How am I ever going to be worthy?
And the Holy Spirit, wait a second.
Jesus died for you. Okay. Jesus died for you. You're worth get in the middle of the boat. Okay. And and and by the way, let me drive.
>> Right. No. this this temperance, this moderation that we can't be too extreme either way. But even like you bring up humility, scripture says, you know, how God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.
>> Yes.
>> And right >> that grace is what Christ offers. But this truth uh in the Pentecost service about the spirit giving uh truth about ourselves, revealing truth about ourselves could sit a little tough because sometimes you know like if I don't see it, it's not there, right? So I I don't want to see the things that need to be corrected or even also in scripture Jesus says how, you know, um those that aren't that don't realize they're sick, you know, don't have need for a physician and he says he's the great physician. We we need that savior. We need that uh the truth that we can't do it ourselves. We can't accomplish it.
>> You know, I I if you were saying that, Travis, I I had this image of the Lord Jesus going into the temple and just turning over the tables. And if you're going to invite the Holy Spirit in and you say, "Hey, I I want I want the truth. I want the objective truth out of God. I don't want to have my truth or your or somebody else's. Be prepared for him then to turn over your tables, >> right? And and you have to you have to accept that, you know, we we have these goals in life and we have to constantly check in with our heavenly father and say, "Look, is is this according to your will? Am I accomplishing what I'm supposed to be, who I'm supposed to be?
You created me uh obviously and also you have an eternal destiny for me as well."
And that should be congruent with my life today. And I have all these priorities. Let me have your priorities.
And I think if we pray that way, if we pray say, "Look, Lord, you know, maybe you have to turn some things over." And I have to see that that's not curse, that's blessing.
>> Truth is um but you know, the chief apostles also say God is gentle and God is loving. So even if he overturns the tables, he'll take care of us. He'll always take care of us.
>> Yeah. Then we have to remember to not keep setting up the tables. He's already overturned.
>> Well, yeah.
>> Yeah. No, no, thank you. Thank you for that. And so, yeah, truth is is outside of us. It transcends from God. It's really what the the truth is, what's being said about what the spirit says about God and the nature of Christ himself. And we have to really uh be humble to receive it and and take this honest look. So no, thank you. Thank you for that. And u thank you for joining us on this episode of for your journey.
Encourage you to go continue to seek truth and to live it. If you have any suggested questions or topics for future discussion, you can find us on Instagram and Facebook.
