Faith Is the Evidence – Why ‘Do I Really Believe’ Is Illogical

[00:00:00]Hebrews 11:1, the Bible says here, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for." Look at this.

[00:00:05]"The evidence of things not seen."

[00:00:10]So, the Bible tells us faith is the evidence.

[00:00:15]So, when you say "How do I know whether I'm saved? What's the evidence?"

[00:00:20]Well, so what what I do to get saved? I believe.

[00:00:23]What is the evidence that I'm saved?

[00:00:26]I believe.

[00:00:27]It's the faith.

[00:00:28]So, then when people say, "Well, how do I know if I believe?"

[00:00:33]I want you to understand that that question is illogical.

[00:00:39]Right? Why is that? Because you don't ask for evidence of evidence.

[00:00:46]You know, evidence is of something else.

[00:00:48]And when you have evidence, you don't ask for evidence of that evidence. So, let me give an example.

[00:00:53]So, let's say I say to you I'm married.

[00:00:56]You say like, "Well, what is the evidence that I'm married?" Well, the evidence is that I have a I'm wearing a ring.

[00:01:04]And then somebody says "Well, what is the evidence of the ring?" Well, you don't need evidence of the ring cuz you can see the ring.

[00:01:11]See, so the evidence is what you see for something you don't see. That's why when we talk about his history, right? We say, "What is the evidence?" It's the stuff that we have today. It's the stuff that we can see. We can look at the manuscripts. We can look at what's written.

[00:01:23]And then we're trying to figure out what happened in the past.

[00:01:26]So, the evidence is something that you do see for something that you don't see.

[00:01:33]So, this is why it's silly to say, "Well, what's the evidence of the thing that I see?" Because you see it. You don't need evidence for the ring. Your salvation is the same.

[00:01:42]You don't need evidence for your faith when you can see it.

[00:01:47]You know you have faith or not. And that is the evidence that you're saved.
