Part 2 At my niece band concertAñadido:
got cut off, but I am back.
Been having an issue with like I touch something on the screen and it disconnect. But when you go back, you can touch it and resume. The resume button isn't working.
>> Okay, here we go. Here is our seventh and eighth grade contra band. They meet twice a week throughout the year.
Um the jazz band actually only met once a week um after school throughout the year. Uh so they did a great job for um the amount of time they need. These guys go twice a year, twice a week. And our first tune is called Ready Castle. It's in 68 time which was a new challenge for them. Normally they're used to playing everything in three four or four simple simple and this um is called compound meter where they're going 1 2 3 4 5 6 step. So you'll hear that hopefully and enjoy.

Thanks for coming back. I got cut off.
We're back running. Heat. Heat.
Okay, our next one um is our most challenging piece. It It's very sparse.
They have to really really count. Um, and I almost cut it because it's a little tricky, but they begged me to play it. So, you guys better count, right?
>> All right. Here we go. Caverns of Sonora.
Oh my god.

a few more announcements while they're getting things changed over back there.
Um, you heard about NSMA. Uh, we also do NSMA for regular um, classical solos.
So, if you did a Nisma solo, Adra, Olivia, Valencia, Johnny, Catalia, Nelly, and Alicia, Emma, go ahead and stand up.
Go >> and go ahead and sit down. Nice job. Um, we also a whole bunch of them come to All City um which was uh in February. So All City was Olivia, Alicia, Julene, Juan, Preston, Adra, Nelly, Johnny, Isandra. Go ahead and stand up.
>> Go Jolene.
>> Very nice. And then All City goes on teacher recommendation and then they see like who the best kids are from that.
Also, when you get to seventh grade, you can audition for All County, which then becomes a little more stringent. There's an audition, of course, and you're uh going against more people. And Julie McFarland made all >> go Julene, that's my niece.
Okay. Uh, next song is called Take the Stairs. Even more fun with time signatures. No more fourth. This one goes one two three triple. So they have a little challenge doing that, but I think they're doing a great job at it. So here's take the stairs.

This next song is arguably their favorite. When we would be getting ready every morning in rehearsal, they would uh come out and I'd like still be in my room as they're loading and getting ready. And I would always come out and they would already be playing this on their own. They just love this song. I don't even think I need to be up here when they play it. They have uh really really loved this song and played it a ton. So, here is the Tempest.

Some of us do double duty. Um, everybody starts out on a single instrument in fourth grade, fifth grade, and as they get older, they tend to be like, "Oh, Miss Keller, can I play the yada yada?"
And we end up playing a lot of yada yada. So, we have several people doing double duty tonight on triple duty. I don't know. We got lots of stuff going on, but um it's all good. They practice real hard. Here is dance of the jabberwocky.

Okay. Okay. Um before we do our last tune, I would just like to thank um the custodial staff, administration, and all the teachers and parents who helped make this happen and make my job fun to come to every day. Um it's pretty great working with all these guys. Um and for some of them, it is our last concert together. So, I would like the eighth graders, as I call them, to come up and be recognized. So, here you go. Eighth graders, Emma, come on up and stand in front.
Heat. Heat.
They've done a great job and I wish them all the best in high school.
>> Our last tune um in your program, I believe it says pluck it. There's been a um discussion about that. We've done some uh Randall Sanders tunes this year um about uh chickens and so it was kind of like a theme. We the song is actually titled Cool It, but they changed it to Cluck It and then at the last second today they're like, "No, we want to say Cool It." So the real tune is Cool It.
They're going to scream it again, Cool It. Um and you can disregard Cluck It.
So here we go. Cool It. Thank you again.
