Is தமிழ் A Self Sufficient Language? #ancientlanguageAjouté :
In 1816, he noticed that the roots of South Indian language Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam were fundamentally different from Sanskrit.
He argued that Tamil was entirely self-sufficient. In other words, Tamil doesn't need Sanskrit to function. It has its own universe.
If Ellis laid the foundation, Robert Caldwell built the fort. Bishop Robert Caldwell in 1856, he published a massive game-changing book, South Indian Family of Languages.
This book literally defined our identity.
He proved scientifically that Tamil is the foundation of this entire South Indian linguistic family.
He famously stated that Tamil is the most highly cultivated and independent language. He debunked the myth that South Indian tongues were just corruption of Sanskrit.
He also pointed out that Tamil literature dates back to a time when many European languages weren't even born yet.
