In the past four days, we have explored the fundamentals of carotic music such as Shoti and Lia. And the students have learned the swarm and saham for three beautiful compositions alongside how to put talum for each unique piece.

[00:12:25]>> Um, so how did Ma do as a teacher?

[00:12:34]First of all, thank you for uh doing this workshop. This is like a sent this message to me. Uh so I felt very happy when I saw a Vina workshop happening in near Poria where I live. So uh thank you Maya for doing this and uh you were such such a sweetheart so gentle and calm. You made everyone so comfortable. Um uh yeah I I felt very happy to be here and you have such a wonderful gift. Uh I hope you'll inspire more students. Congratulations.

[00:13:12]>> What was your best experience out of the workshop?

[00:13:20]I think my best experience out of the workshop was the Vina and singing with Missa because [snorts] um it was such a joy to sing with her and um I really enjoyed playing the Vina um and um how she taught me how to do the scale for um some of our songs.

[00:13:49]What did Ma made easier for you?

[00:13:58]Made it easier by making the swam for each song and teaching us everything very slowly so that we can understand easily.

[00:14:20]My question is what made you think for doing this workshop?

[00:14:28]>> It took it didn't really take a lot for me to think of this. I was kind of bored during summer break and I really enjoy singing and I enjoy playing the Vina and I love it so much and I thought like you know like since I already know something I might as well teach other like other who haven't learned sit before to so they can like you know understand and like dive into the world of I take this opportunity to say some good words okay I'm inspired by such a sweetheart like you're managing them, you're managing us.

[00:15:30]It's not a small but you did it really well. Thank you so much for that.

[00:15:40]>> My question is um what inspired you to play the >> So first I actually joined Basanti for singing classes um when I was like four and then later my brother started learning Vina from Basanti and I saw him learning and I I used to sit and like watch his Vina classes and I found it really cool like instrument I've never seen before and it sounds really nice.

[00:16:06]So, I just I just decided to do it after >> you said that the temple supported you.

[00:16:24]Were you also trying to support the temple in any way?

[00:16:27]>> Yes.

[00:16:30]>> Yeah. I was um like each person here um has donated to the temple and we're really thankful to the temple for first of all allowing us to you know have this workshop here. So we're really thankful and grateful for being able to do this and we're trying to give donations in order to show our gratefulness.

[00:16:48][applause] >> My question what made it easy for you to play?

[00:17:02]Well, at first it was it was like first it was just like eagerness as like a small child to play Vina. I think it it gets tough later but you know getting like a push from our teachers from our gurus and from our parents to keep going you know keep learning and keep practicing that that made it easier you know to have people to support you.

[00:17:27]Was there ever a point that you did not like learning the >> I don't think it was that I didn't like learning. I think it was like some songs were harder than the others. And you know when you're trying to like take a step into the next level, it's frustrating when you don't get it right away. So, it definitely took some time and practice, but there was never a point where I wanted to like give up or like stop. There was just like points where I needed to put in extra effort to get to the next part.

[00:18:06]Um, did you ever feel demotivated when playing Vina? And if so, how did you motivate yourself again?

[00:18:14]>> Um, similar to what I said before, um, I like if I wouldn't get something right away, it would kind of make me like a little, you know, you get a little frustrated. But I think like like our parents especially and our gurus like telling us like oh you can do it you just need to keep on practicing and you know keep on like revising. I think that helps me like you know motivate myself to like understand the song and get it.
