But what makes them remarkable is not simply that they still hunt with bows and arrows or live in the savannas of Tanzania. What is interesting is that for the Hadza, survival knowledge is not found in books but in activities repeated every day. A man who wants to become a skilled hunter must do more than know how to shoot a bow. He must understand which plants can be used to make poison, how to prepare it, and how to use it effectively.

[00:02:41]Most modern people would see only dust and overlapping footprints, but to the Hadza, the ground is full of information. They can tell how long ago an animal passed by, which direction it was moving, and whether it is still nearby.

[00:05:45]To reach it, they have to climb. Their climbing skills immediately come into play. Without protective gear, ropes, or any special equipment, they climb swiftly and confidently to reach the hive.

[00:06:00]It is rich in energy, easy to digest, and especially useful after many hours of traveling beneath the hot savanna sun. What is fascinating is that honey also demonstrates just how deep the Hadzabe's environmental knowledge is.

[00:06:13]They know which trees are likely to contain beehives, how to climb safely, and how to use smoke to reduce the risk of bee attacks. In other words, the Hadzabe's food does not come from a single source. It comes from hundreds of small pieces of knowledge accumulated over many generations.
