Strategic investment in education and technical training can transform a nation's human capital into economic growth, as demonstrated by China's economic transformation from a steel-poor agricultural country to the world's second-largest economy through massive educational investment, technical and vocational training, and long-term government planning; Bangladesh, with 65% of its population being young citizens, can similarly convert its demographic advantage into economic development by prioritizing education sector investment (5% of GDP) and fostering university-industry collaboration.

'আগের মতো শুধু পরীক্ষা আর জিপিএ ৫ নিয়ে পড়ে থাকবো না' | ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon | Education MinisterAdded:
Miss Rahman my dear colleagues Dr. Mahadi Amin his excellency ambassador Yan the distinguished guest ladies and gentlemenalamkum we know why we are here for do we know you don't know let's give you a glimpse what was China 50 years back they have economic size 50 years back only 150 billion econom size as of today 20 trillion you understand 150 billion now is 20 trillion I go compare with United States 50 years back 1.07 07 trillion. Now as of today 27 trillion United States size of economy well 50 years back Chinese population was 820 million 820 million and now 1.4 billion. You see it's almost double.
Okay.
If we compare with the United States, they used to have 50 years ago 205 million 205 million now 335 million.
Now in comparison United States they did not went that far. The population growth is not that much. All right. In the meantime, Bangladesh if you go 80s, our size of economy was 18 billions. Today 460 plus our 80s population 88 million. Now 173 statistics say it might be more.
Well, 50 years ago, China was a steel poor agriculture country. But now today, China is the large second largest economy in the world. Second largest economy of the world. So why we take China as example?
Their growth rate is the highest.
Sometimes it went up to 8, 9. United States is one to two. You see the United States almost two3 asset of the world with damies doesn't have that much resource. What is their resource? The human the human capital they raise and that's the reason they are in this position right now. So now which model should we follow in the education sector?
Few minutes ago, one of the gentlemen give a lecture to us. The Chinese education system is not that mass expansive.
Well, I took some note from the his excellency from the ambassador. They have 286 million students and they have 19 million full-time teachers. Well, we do have nearly 1 million teachers, nearly 3.8 million students. We are also a large number in compared with China. Now we are the highly densely populated country in the world. At the same time more than 30 developed nations, they are declining their citizens. It means 30 developed country more people are dying less people are taking birth. Am I clear? But in Bangladesh more people are taking birth less people are dying. So our human is now growing and to us. No, it is a good to be asked that our 27 years to 30 years old young citizen is almost 65% of the nationals 65%. So we have a huge number of yacht citizen. How do we convert this yacht citizen into human capital? That should be the main motto of our education ministry and that's what our honorable prime minister is thinking. So he is giving the most importance in education sector. So do his late father president Jar Rahman did the same. So do our late prime minister Beckham Khaledia did the same.
This time our honorable prime minister he allocated he allowed us to take as much as 5% of our GDP in the education sector. So it is our good luck.
Now what do we see what the China did massive investment in education they they did in last 50 years massive investment in education they did technical and vocational training they invested there they went for industrialization I don't want to go to other part research and innovations long-term government planning they had a long-term government planning infrastructure development university industry collaboration do we have it our UCCC chairman just laughed for his own business but we don't have industry and university educational qualification relations okay China's transformation teachers that invest in education so what they did invest in education and technical and skills.
This is the best investment they needed the national investment for economic transformation.
Bangladesh we have a large population.
We must converge into a manpower.
Let's see Bangladesh can benefited from cooperation with China in what number one technical education. I heard this piece from the vocational colleg's principal.
She made his piece over here in my country. When I say the vocational, they believe it's a taboos. They don't feel to go to the vocational education system. But once you will go to the China, you will see they are in technical and vocational education.
They can help us in AI and digital.
Classroom assign Technical, general education, teachers training program.
form quality schoolity education University.
for China.
Third language joint collaboration International competition.
for I want to extend my thanks to the universities those who came here and joining this program especially Especially his excellency the honorable ambassador he doesn't sleep always he works and he works in the education sector and all other sectors you got an excellent ambassador to work with us thank you very much and I wish you have a good day
