A reader's emotional connection to book characters and storylines can create profound psychological responses, including intense sadness, physical discomfort, and lasting emotional impact, as demonstrated by the creator's experience with 'Clockwork Princess' where they described feeling 'unwell' and crying throughout the reading process, particularly during the epilogue.

mood reading for a week 📖🌟 | starting a new series and a 5 star read?!Added:
So, did I finish this book or did it finish me?
>> [music] >> Somebody's wife got ran over by a giraffe. I'm absolutely [music] unwell.
I've cried so much. I literally was just crying. I simply don't care to read 500 pages of it. Action, romance, love, [music] fighting, demons, all that stuff.
Cassandra Clare [music] cut me a freaking Daisy. I then freaked it with the abominable snowman.
>> [music] >> Great. Okay.
Okay, bye.
>> [music] >> Hello everybody and welcome to my channel. I am the biggest mood reader ever. I cannot stick to a single TBR.
So, I thought it would be fun if we did a little reading vlog where I mood read for the whole week, which is basically just a normal reading vlog because I do mood read all the time. I've always wanted to do like picking my TBR out of a jar, like picking my April TBR based off prompts, but I cannot stick to a TBR ever. I have so many books that I want to read, but if I'm not in the mood for it, I'm not in the mood for it and I don't want to force myself to read it.
basically this is just a normal week of me reading because I always mood read.
But, we're starting this video with Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. You guys, I'm actually obsessed with this trilogy. This is the second book and I just started it today and I cannot put it down. I'm currently making my way through the entire Shadow Hunters universe. So, I started with the first three books in The Mortal Instruments series, then I read The Red Scrolls of Magic and now I'm on to this trilogy.
And then after this, I go back to The Mortal Instruments and then read all of her other books. It's so intimidating because she has so many books that she's written and she's still writing more.
Like, I have like 30 books that I need to read, um but I'm having a good time so far. I really enjoy her writing and I definitely like this trilogy better than The Mortal Instruments. I know I still have to read the last three in that series, but I loved the first book in this trilogy. Genuinely, I don't know how she does it, but I'm obsessed with every single character in this book. I'm obsessed with the writing, the world. I love how it's in London because I'm going to London later this year on a study abroad, so it's making me extra excited. And like this is the craziest thing, but I happen to use my Hatchards bookmark with this book, and it's literally set in London and they have a map at the beginning and Hatchards is on the map. I don't know if you guys can see that, but so cute. I'm so obsessed.
And I also love books that are set in this time period. This is in like the 1800s and I love reading books like that. Like Regency romances are some of my favorite books ever and I also just love when people are wearing like dresses and suits and all the fancy clothes. Like I will always love a good fantasy or romance set in that time period. So yeah, I'm on page 70 and I'll probably end up reading this book and finishing it and then after that, I don't know what I'm going to read.
Again, mood reader. Depending on how good this book is, I'll probably go on to the next book in this trilogy. I don't know. I have so so so so so many books that I want to read, so many books I need to read and I always get FOMO, so I happen to go to the bookstore like every single week and buy new books because they're trending on TikTok and I have to read them because everybody else is reading them. It's actually become a problem because I have so many unread books on my physical TBR. It's so bad.
So yeah, I don't know what I'm going to be reading in this reading vlog. We'll see where my mood takes me, but we are going to be starting out with Clockwork Prince. And yeah, let's just get to reading. Yay!
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Okay, you guys. time for a little reading update. So first of all, last night I finished Clockwork Prince and I'm actually in love. Like I literally can't think about anything else. It was so good. The love triangle in this is probably the best love triangle I've ever read about in my entire life. I feel like when I was younger, like in middle school, every single book was a love triangle and I was so obsessed with it. Like sue me, I eat up the drama of a love triangle, but I haven't read a good love triangle in so long and this book did it. This book did it so well and it makes sense because I'm pretty sure this was released around the time when love triangles were a really big thing. But wow, it was so good and it's like the fact that I love both of them equally is unreal. And just like all the characters, I think Cassandra Clare is so good at writing all the characters because they each have their own personality, storyline, character arc and it's so beautiful to read about and it makes the story so impactful. Like I'm rooting for all of these characters and so it makes me want to continue reading. But I don't think I'm ready to read the next book because I was literally in agony last night. Like I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about this so much and I felt sick to my stomach. If you've read it before, you know the ending just actually, oh my gosh. I like literally can't think about it right now. But I'm kind of in the mood for like a romance book, but my problem with romance books is that lately every single romance book has been like 500 pages long. I personally believe that no romance book should be over 350 pages long. I feel like I just lose interest if it's longer than that and since there's no like world building or all that stuff, like politics, stuff like that, it's just simply a romance book, I do not think it's necessary to have 500 pages about two characters falling in love. I always get bored.
Every single time I get bored and so I want to read a romance book, but every single romance book that's come out lately that everybody's raving about is longer than 350 pages and I'm not ready for that commitment. Unless it is the most majestic, beautiful, heartbreaking, gorgeous, amazing, perfect love story ever.
I simply don't care to read 500 pages of it. I've really been wanting to continue the like Twisted Games series. I don't even know by Anna Huang because I read the second one. I didn't read any of the other ones and I liked it. Like I had a fun time reading it and I wanted to read the last one because I've heard that's the best one, but it is like 550 pages long. I'm just like why are we writing romance books this long? Like I cannot stay interested for that long in a romance book where the plot is only romance. So anyways, I probably won't be reading romance right now because I just cannot find any that are short enough to capture my attention. So I do think I'll be picking up the first book in The Unselected Journals of M.M. Lyon. It's just a fun quick read. I'm pretty sure it's like 100 pages and I kind of just need something short and fun and fluffy after reading Clockwork Prince. But I do have Clockwork Princess right next to me in case I do want to read it. I just don't think I'm ready mentally. Also, I made a TikTok about this, but one of the things I love about Cassandra Clare's writing is that she makes the main characters love reading as much as I love reading. So there are so many quotes in here where she just talks about reading and like how impactful reading is. No spoilers, but this quote says, "It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone.
They could be honest with me and I with them." As a girl who is certified obsessed with reading and all I do is read, all I think about is reading, I love to read so much more than anything else, I felt so seen while reading these books because everybody loves reading and they kept dropping these quotes where they talk about how impactful reading is and I was like, "Yes, period.
We need more of that." So I'm excited to get to the next book because I'm sure there will be more quotes, more heartbreak, which I'm not excited for, but you know, we'll get there. I think I'm going to go to a cafe right now, maybe read for a little while, and yeah, let's just keep reading.
>> [music] [music] >> Okay, you guys, we are outside because the weather is decently nice today. It's kind of chilly, but I really want to go outside and I don't care if it's cold.
I'm pretty sure it's like lightly raining right now because I'm feeling raindrops on me. So, if it starts raining, we're going to have to go inside and I literally just got out here. But for now, it's not too bad.
It's just a sprinkling. I went to a cafe with my family and I started reading this book and I got to page 30 and it's good so far. It's kind of like nothing's really happening, which I've heard is what this book is kind of like. It's more of like an imagery writing, just like regular life kind of book instead of action, romance, love, fighting demons, all that stuff. So, it's definitely a switch from The Clockwork Prince, but I'm liking it. It's a nice little like spacer in between the books.
I think I'm going to finish this right now maybe because it's only 100 pages and yeah, I'm basically almost halfway through. It is getting a little chilly though. The breeze The breeze is there.
It's a little cloudy. Um but we're going to endure and we're going to get through this because I want to read outside. I need to reconnect with nature. I don't care if I'm freezing.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> Okay, I think it is about time for a little reading update because I did in fact read one of the most unhinged books I've ever read in my entire life. But first up, I finished The Unselected Journals of M. M. Lyon. I really liked it and I gave it three stars. Basically, the book is set in the 1800s in London and it follows M. M. Lyon, who is moving back home to London to Lapis Lazuli House. She's She's to turn 21 and once she turns 21, she gets to claim the house for herself, but currently her cousin who she doesn't really like is owning it. This first book was kind of a glimpse into her world like it gives you little hints on what's going to come up later in the series. It brought up some characters and I feel like there's so much growth to happen in the next couple of books. So I will definitely be continuing it and then I decided I wasn't ready to start Clockwork Princess and so I picked up a fun read I thought.
I saw one person on TikTok talking about this book and they said it's a pick your own poison book so you get to choose the path that your character goes on. There was 22 possible endings and I was so intrigued that I immediately had to pick it up. I do wish I had looked into it a little bit more. The book was The Dinner Party by Freida McFadden and I love Freida McFadden. I've read so many of her books. I really trust her as an author. I love her writing. I'm choosing to ignore the fact that she wrote this because this was something else. It was absolute insanity. There was a billionaire werewolf, an abominable snowman who likes playing hockey and gave me frosted flakes to eat. I then freaked it with the abominable snowman and then I married the werewolf billionaire. There was also multiple endings where I ended up murdered.
Somebody's wife got ran over by a giraffe. I really don't have words to express what this book was. I don't really know what I was expecting because it didn't say what the storyline would be at all, but I trust Freida McFadden.
I was like this will be a good like psychological thriller. No. No. So yeah, safe to say this book was a solid two stars and I really just will never forget the experience I had while reading it. So after I finished that, I needed to reconnect with nature, take a little breather, but then I decided I was finally ready to begin Clockwork Princess. Yeah, I know. I'm actually I've never been ready so I might as well just start it right now. I've already tapped quite a bit. I'm obsessed with it so far. I'm 153 pages in and I'm just honestly terrified like I don't want it to end. I know I'm going to be sobbing and absolutely heartbroken when it's over. So yeah, I'm having a good time reading this so far. I'm already like emotionally distraught and I feel like I'm going to cry every 2 seconds, but I'm so excited to see where the story takes us and I trust Cassandra Clare.
She won't break my heart, right? I'm hoping I'll finish this within the next 2 to 3 days. I kind of want to like drag it out because I don't want it to be over with. I'm just loving it so far and I never want it to end.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> Okay, you guys, I have 70 pages left in this book. I'm absolutely unwell. I've cried so much. I literally was just crying and I was like, I should probably go get my camera to record because I'm about to finish this and I'm not ready. I've heard that the epilogue just really like tips you over the edge and is so heartbreaking. This book has been so amazing though and I've tried to savor it and take my time because I just don't want it to end because I'm so obsessed and I'm not ready to leave these characters, but at the same time, since it is so amazing, I want to finish it and see where the story's going to go. Yeah, I'm unwell.
I'm just I'm not ready. Let's finish this book.
>> [music] >> Right. Okay.
I just read one page and I'm already crying.
>> [music] >> Oh, this is sickening. [music] Why am I >> [music] >> doing this to myself?
Like, I can't even see the book through my tears.
>> [music] [music] >> In every meeting there was some of the sorrow of parting, [music] but in every parting there was some of the joy of meeting as well.
He would not forget the joy. Cassandra Clare had [music] me freaking days.
>> [music] >> Guys, we're reading the epilogue. I have cried so many times. My tears have finally dried and I think I'm about to start bawling once again. Ah, I'm scared. I'm so scared.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Okay. So, >> [gasps] >> did I finish this book or did it finish me? And I think we all know the answer to that. Um, I'm unwell. I'm like slobbering because I'm crying so much.
This book was six stars. This is perfect. I literally don't think I'm ever going to be okay after reading this. [laughter] I mean, that was such a beautiful way to wrap up the story, but oh my gosh.
I'm literally unwell. Like, I cannot believe that just happened. And like, how did I only have three books with these characters and I'm so attached and I literally like I'm going to throw up and die. Will and Jem are some of my new favorite characters ever. I'm so obsessed. I can't even think right now.
I just want to cry. So, I will be back to finish off this video later. Um I'm just going to go ball in my room right now because I'm unwell and this is perfection. Okay, you guys, I had to take the day to compose myself after that whirlwind of emotions I just felt reading Clockwork Princess. Genuinely, I feel like my life was changed. That was one of the best books I've read all year and it is one of my new favorite books ever. It was just so beautiful, so good.
I was like expecting the epilogue to wreck me because everybody says the epilogue just like rips out your heart, but I was not expecting it to that extent and not even just the epilogue for the last like second half of the book, I was crying nonstop. Like I couldn't read it around other people because I couldn't stop crying. But honestly, that's a good thing. Like I know I love a book when I get so emotionally attached to the characters in the story and the plot that I feel so sad when I'm over with. And if I'm crying because of stuff that happens in the book, obviously I love it so much.
Like clearly. But yeah, that's where I'm going to end this video today because that was the mood reading for the entire week. I definitely felt the full range of human emotions. I was crying, I was laughing, I was weirded out by some weird stuff I read. But this is really fun because I feel like since I was vlogging, I was more motivated to read.
I just love reading so much and it's so fun to share my love for reading with other people through YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, whatever, all my vlogs, all my videos. And I will be immediately picking up more Cassandra Clare books because I need something to fill the hole that it left in my chest. I'm actually unwell. thank you for watching this mood reading reading vlog. It was so fun to make it. Um I need like 5 to 10 business days to emotionally recover from this week of reading.
Yeah, but I'll see you guys in my next video, okay? Bye.
