Beyond The Ballot: Black Voices & Civic Engagement

Black candidates face unique systemic barriers including the 'electability' question, which questions whether they can win based on race rather than qualifications, and require white allies to actively support them beyond performative gestures like voting blue; meaningful political change requires white people to deconstruct their privilege, name harm, and provide tangible support such as financial contributions and physical presence in communities, rather than relying on progressive organizations that often fail to deliver actual resources to candidates.
