Swiss-based pharma giant Roche has introduced an under-the-skin version of Tecentriq, [music] a breakthrough therapy for specific lung cancers. This can be administered in a jiffy in just about 7 minutes under the skin in a hospital setting. Roche says the innovation can reduce treatment administration time by nearly 80%.

The therapy has been approved by India's drug regulator, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, and marks a major shift from conventional [music] cancer treatment that often take hours inside hospitals. However, the treatment remains expensive. [music] Each vial of Tecentriq is expected to cost around 4 lakh Indian rupees, and many patients may require multiple cycles depending on disease progression. The company says patient access programs will offer some financial support. Lung cancer is currently the fourth most common cancer in India. Once largely [music] associated with smokers, it is now rapidly rising even among non-smokers, with doctors pointing to worsening air pollution as a major contributing [music] factor.
