Racism is not merely individual hatred but a historical, structural system of power where some groups are privileged while others are marginalized; it persists through subtle forms like biased opportunities and unequal representation, and because it is learned, it can be unlearned, making equality a practice rather than just a spoken ideal.

Racism in Post ColonialismAdded:
As-salamu alaykum. I'm Eman, roll number 112. Before I begin, let me ask you one question. If all human beings are born equal, then why some are still treated as less human?
Today, I'm speaking about racism, not just as an individual attitude, but as historical, structural, and deeply rooted reality. As James Baldwin said, "Not everything that is faced that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." Racism is often misunderstood as open hatred, but in reality, it is much deeper. It is a system of power where some groups are privileged, while others are marginalized. Do you know about the reason? It is about race and identity.
We often believe that racism belongs to the past, to slavery, and to segregation, but in reality, it never disappeared. It only changed its form.
Even today, racism exists in subtle ways, in biased opportunities, in unequal representation, and in everyday's language. And the most dangerous part is we don't even recognize it.
To understand racism deeply, we must look at its colonial roots. Colonialism did not take only only lands, it also shaped our minds. It created a sense of superiority and inferiority.
Post-colonial literature also challenges this idea. As we have studied in Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart, how colonialism affected African identities, and also The Midnight Children explores post-colonial fragmented societies.
In end, I just want to say that racism survives not only because of hate, but because of silence. And it is learned, and anything learned can be unlearned.
Because equality is not just spoken, it is practiced.
And we have to acknowledge that racism is not just a social issue, it is a test of humanity, and the change begins with us. Thank you.
