The video provides a compelling look at the intersection of game theory and human psychology within the high-stakes environment of digital auctions. It effectively illustrates how platform mechanics and time pressure transform a simple purchase into a complex exercise in strategic resource management.

Auction fever! What we won and lost at the Hudson dealership auction! Stress, success, and failure!Added:
Hey everybody. So, we are here at the Hudson dealership auction and it's online only. So, we've got our screen up. We put bids on a bunch of stuff and now it's nervous time. It's down to 11 minutes on the cars and I've got my eyes on two. The first is this. This is the Hel Camino, as I call it, which is an El Camino uh or or a Hudson that's been changed into an El Camino.
I'm high bidder on that right now. If I lose it, I might bid on this one, which is just a generic four-door, but the engine's not seized and it's pretty nice car.
So, those close in 10 minutes. So, we'll get back to you when there's a few minutes left. The way this works is these might get extended.
If somebody bids in the last five minutes, then the they get extended. But we've got we've got bids on a whole bunch of stuff here that we want. What else? This thing. This Panama oil drum.
We're a high bidder on that.
We're a high bidder on the Kushman scooter.
We're actually bidding on that for a friend of ours, Ricky. Many of you know him from the videos. This drum and pump.
We're high bidder on that.
And this go-kart. I really want this go-kart.
>> Yeah, you bet 200 and it's at 200.
>> Yeah. Yep. That's not just a pedal card.
It's got an engine in it. I think that would make a great video and be fun. And then we go all the way to the bottom.
>> Oh, wait. Go back up.
Oh, okay. Never mind. The in red is what you've been on >> and and don't win. You haven't won.
Yeah. Is the shelves.
>> That's just for the shop.
>> Yeah. We just want the metal shells.
They're not interested in what's on there, >> but I I'm hoping we win something else.
I don't want to drive all the way down there for two shelves. These visors, I'm just so tempted to bid more because they're so nice. These folding visors.
>> Mhm.
>> Um but I'm just not going to do it. They're already up to 250. I'm just not going to do it.
>> All right, we'll come back.
>> Oops. So, we've got a bidding war taking place, not with us, but on this Javelin and on the Ford truck.
Both of these are getting a lot of bids in the last few seconds. So, what that's done is it extended all the cars out.
It's called a linked listing. All the cars are now five minutes out. There's another bid on the Javelin. I predicted that this is going to go a minimum of 10 grand.
And look, it's already at 9100.
>> I know. You know, the hard part about that is we only had three minutes left to see if we won that car. But now, >> well, now we have four.
>> So, let's let's check the oil drone because that's >> how long it That's got five minutes left.
>> That must have extended, too.
>> Um, I don't see why it's still 75 >> because it's linked.
>> Oh, no, it's not. It's not. You're right. This is scan. So, this is going to close.
>> So, scroll back up. I hear beeping. It must be the vehicles. Yeah.
>> Oh, yeah. 96.
>> Yep.
>> Mhm.
Go down to the truck.
>> 43. Okay.
Well, guess we'll see what happens.
>> No one's bid on my Hel Camino yet.
>> Yay. Don't do it.
>> This one, the four-door that I also like, has bid up to,100 while we were gone.
Would I pay more? Like if I lose the Hel Camino, would I jump over to that four-door?
>> Yeah, I knew it would go minimum 10 minimum.
>> I think I would be a little bit more on that hornet.
>> Let's just hope we get the Hell Camino.
>> Yes.
>> Let's pray. Everyone pray.
>> Look at this.
>> These guys are just battling it out. Is it two people? No, it's three people.
>> All right.
see what happens.
>> Boy, when it's three people, it's not good for the buyer. Let me just quick quick check this. The can is only three three minutes left, >> but we have our max bid in, so it's, you know, >> yeah, I'm just looking forward to celebrating.
>> We should be celebrating like in one minute over that hell commun extended the time.
>> It does look good for us because nobody's bid on it.
>> Mhm. All right, we'll come back in three minutes. Okay. So, our max bed is there.
So, we probably will lose that. That's okay.
>> Yep. We just lost it.
>> I told you that that's worth money. I searched and searched every way I could and I could not locate that right there. I think that thing is worth a lot of money.
>> Should we bid a little more?
>> I mean, I I just don't know. We got four minutes to think about it.
>> So, what's going on with the vehicles?
>> Oh, and this timer thing, I mean, so the timer is really slow. Do you want to explain that?
>> Yeah, it's every time someone bids in the last 5 minutes, it's extending 5 minutes. If they bid in the last two minutes, it's going to extend 2 minutes, but no one's waiting for that. But this software is not registering the bid for like four minutes. Mhm.
>> So I someone could swoop in in the last like 15 seconds and win because the software is so slow.
>> Mhm.
>> Yeah.
>> And we lost a truck months ago using the same software because of that. And it's still doing it >> two minutes.
>> Two minutes. Okay.
>> Two minutes.
>> So I just want to see if I see any of the blink. And if I see them blink, we know it was a new bed. And I want to see how long it takes the time to change.
Well, we below.
>> Okay. Wait a minute. Did something just >> something?
>> Okay, but it wasn't there. That's fine.
>> See, by now other bids is probably starting to >> Well, just stay there cuz I'm watching this truck, too.
>> Yeah, but I got to check like the motor, the cart and stuff, babe.
>> Oh, okay. Is it about time to run out?
>> The Kushman was still ahead.
Where is that cart? Oh, we must have lost it.
>> Go. I think you passed it already. Slow down. Okay, go on. It's right here.
>> Oh, I'm still up on it. Okay, good.
>> And it has 20 minutes left. You got plenty of time.
>> Okay. All right. So, back to the cars.
Okay. We're in 1 minute 15 seconds. So, we're getting down to it.
>> Mhm. Scroll down a little so I can see that truck cuz I want to see if that blinks. So, we'll know if someone been on that last minute it changed.
>> Our truck is at 46. Oh, this one just So, let's see how long Oh, that root changed instantly.
>> Yeah, it it >> that's the first time it's done.
>> Yeah. So, it extended another 2 minutes.
This is >> It didn't It's 4 minutes and 47 seconds.
>> We were down to less than a minute.
>> I guess it means it's ending.
>> Is that what it means?
>> I guess it means 30 seconds to go.
>> Counting it down.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we upped our bid. I hope we didn't make a bad decision. Um, and we might want to and if >> 10 seconds >> if you're interested in that, it will be for sale, >> but at a much higher rate.
>> Six, five, four. Oh man, we might win it.
>> Woohoo! We got it.
>> We think we did. Remember last time?
>> Yeah. Again, that is for sale.
>> Okay. Woo. All right. Now, since that means we're going down there.
>> The Kushman has 2 minutes and in 25 seconds.
>> Okay. So, we're not high bidder on the Kushman.
>> No.
>> So, let me put another bid in for this.
>> No, I'll bid.
>> Okay. He said 700. Do the 700. Maybe they got >> Well, we got four minutes.
>> Oh, is it extended? Okay. Yeah.
>> Go back up to the cars. Cars, please.
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. How could you forget about that?
>> Well, got four minutes.
>> That means that someone bid again. We're never leaving here. You know what?
>> The oil drum, the black drums. We lost that.
>> It's up to $43.
>> Mhm.
>> What else we got? I still got this. 13 minutes.
>> 13 minutes.
>> How about those shells? That must be ending soon.
>> Hour and a half.
>> Yeah, we got time for that.
>> Holy cow. What else we got? Did the tools all go? I wanted to bid on those tools now that we know we're going down there, but they're all gone.
>> All right. Well, we better look at this and come back. All right. So, that went up past what Ricky gave us authorization to bid. So, >> yep, we're out on the Kushman.
>> Sorry, Ricky.
>> All right, we are at 59 seconds on the cars.
Oh, boy.
And this is as few seconds as we had without somebody bidding on something else that's extended our car.
>> Gosh. Okay. 28 seconds.
>> Oh, I think this is it.
>> I hope so. I hope so.
>> This is it. Well, 13 grand for that javelin's a lot.
>> Yeah.
>> Did someone do something, please? No.
Not with cars. Thank gosh. Because I just >> 15 seconds.
>> I'm getting so bored already. 15 seconds. I'm ready.
>> 10 seconds for the hell Camino.
Five, four, >> three, >> two, one.
>> All right, we should have won it, >> but not It says completed.
>> They went away.
>> All right. Thank goodness.
>> Well, we hope we won.
>> Yeah, you know, I hope I won, but now I'm just relieved to see it gone.
>> Okay, let me uh let me check my email.
No, you need to check your um >> what the the the scooter.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Well, let's >> cuz you have 50 seconds.
>> Oh, boy. Yeah.
>> Okay, Richard. You may have got that scooter.
>> Oh, I'll be more thrilled with the scooter than the >> So, is this something you wanted as a child and you're trying to relive your childhood memories?
>> No, but it would have been cool. Those things were Uhoh. Those things were just not possible when I was a kid. No way.
That was a luxury item. But I will be more excited about this cart than that car.
>> I'll be more excited about the car than this cart.
So that's fine.
You're almost there.
>> Oh man, I'm going to be thrilled.
>> I would like to say that I feel like if someone was going to swoop in and take it, >> someone outbid me. No.
Ah, >> now you have to decide.
So, we've got not stuff we're interested in anymore, but we did bid on this bicycle, but we got way out bid. It's at 55. But look at this future farmer toy.
$125.
>> Yeah, >> that's more than I thought.
>> And the Kushman is, by the way, is up to 1300. Yeah, >> Ricky, you were way off on that. Sorry.
>> And the hand forge is up to 325, which is pretty neat piece. So, what do we have left? We have this. You did extend it.
>> Not extend it, but you did go up to 250.
>> Yes, I did. That's as high as I'm going.
>> Yeah.
>> High as I'm going.
>> So, >> and what about the uh >> all that other stuff?
>> The pneumatic tool that I >> Yeah, you got like seven.
>> Oh, I'm out bit again.
>> Oh, well, you got seven minutes. And it's all of the number sixes are linked.
So, >> all right. So, that'll take a long time.
>> It will.
>> What else do we want? these wheels and that's pretty cheap.
>> I asked you about those last night, but you said you didn't think that they were good for anything.
>> Well, I don't know if they are or they aren't. I don't know much about them.
>> Mhm.
>> But I got to believe they're worth five bucks.
>> I don't know. You know what's weird is like these have five lugs. Those have a whole bunch.
>> What does that mean? That's for the stud that that the alignment stud >> because those are designed for nut and stud is one piece that screws in.
>> So that's what that is. Those are like Buick wheels >> with that.
>> Hey, let's see what's going to happen.
>> We're linked to so many other lots with this.
>> I know it would >> be amazing if this closes without something extending it.
>> So this this this hope not. I hope not. Let's see.
>> Calm down.
>> Guy waited till 5 seconds before >> that guy was a jerk. This sounds like something I would do.
Okay.
>> Bam.
>> Think I got it.
>> I think you do, too.
>> And now you can live out your childhood, >> you know.
>> I think I got it. Oh, man. So, we know we won the Hell Camino and the go-kart, but we won won some other stuff. We're still bidding on some other stuff. and you're going to see it loaded on the trailer now. So, this is it minus the car in the go-kart. I just got back from packing all this stuff up and boy did I get filthy. But while I was there, and the reason I went as quickly as I could to get the stuff was the Helamino was wide open, as you know, and I was afraid people would steal stuff. And sure enough, when I got there, someone had their hands in the in the back and was stealing stuff. I caught him red-handed and he just feigned ignorance and said that he figured that it was anybody's stuff because it's, you know, in the back of the car and I only bought the car and that's not how auctions work.
What's in the vehicle you get. Anyway, so we got all kinds of stuff here, including this. This was on the roof under cardboard. I don't know what this is for. Obviously not Hudson, but I wonder maybe it's got to be AMC.
>> H, right? But it was an AMC dealership.
>> It's got an AMC. I mean, it looks brand new.
>> Looks like it was uh it was bought as a replacement.
>> Yeah. It doesn't look like it was ever installed.
>> Yeah.
>> Wow. Okay.
>> So, maybe it's javelin. I don't know.
>> And this is fun for me because I just got home. I wasn't there when you got when you picked all this up. So, >> and you're lucky cuz it was dirty.
>> I don't care about that. You know that.
So, this obviously, look at that. This obviously is not part of it.
>> Oh, okay.
>> Nor is this stuff. I brought this stuff with me, but we have in here up front two Lawn Boy two-stroke mowers.
These are actually collectible and I didn't know anything about them and Christine was like, "Buy them. Buy them.
Buy them." So, I bought them. And it turns out I bought some collectible moes and while I was there, some guy stopped me. Uh-huh.
>> And he's like, "Are those the two-stroke?" And I said, "I think so."
>> This is the base to the Loopster. I had to take the base off in order to get the Loopster.
Believe it or not, I put it in the back seat of this truck. But here's the Loopster.
>> Look at that.
>> So, it sits right on that base.
So when I was researching this um panam American Petroleum Company, they were from the 20s to the 50s and they were bought out. So this could actually be from the 20s, 30s, 40s and I think they were bought out in like 53 something like that.
>> And for something to look this good from that time frame, you just really don't see it, you you know, pretty crazy.
>> And I just love it. Again, don't forget this will be for sale.
>> And the pump works.
>> Yeah. I think it's just awesome.
>> And we're going to use it actually cuz the Jeep transmission and transfer case need need that.
>> Yeah. Then after that, it'll be for sale.
>> Yeah. So, we've got boxes and boxes of parts. And this is what I was worried about being stolen.
>> Yeah. Because we actually weren't sure if these might be parts that he had put in the back for the Hel Camino. That's a master cylinder.
>> Yeah. Not for a Hudson though. It's newer.
>> It's newer. This is an old one. Let's check this. These are heater cores. I got three heater cores >> and they look like they're in excellent excellent condition.
I don't know what this is. You know, it looks like you can pull it behind a lawn mower, >> but >> at first I thought maybe it was went to a dolly or something.
>> Yeah. I don't know. But I grabbed it for the tires. These are >> Well, it was in the Hell Camino.
>> It was. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Used.
That's >> Look at that one.
>> Yeah. Still used though.
>> I should have left that there.
>> And shocks. I mean, I've got so many pairs of shocks now. These look used, but these are the only ones I saw that look used.
>> All the others are new. Yeah, these are these are scrap. Those are junk.
>> Well, she got some traps.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> This looks like for a stove top.
>> That's funny.
>> Yeah. So, so far this is letting me down.
>> Well, we didn't expect anything really.
We were just curious as to what would be in there. And here is a Craftsman garage door opener.
>> Brand new in the box. Look at these cores.
>> They look used, but no signs of leaks.
And I got three of them. Yeah, this thing super heavy. Brand new in the box.
Oh, here's some of those new shocks.
Look at that.
Oh, wow.
>> Brand new and weird ones. I mean, maybe these are Hudson cuz they're weird.
>> So, what's in that?
>> This I brought with me. These are toast.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> Cuz I thought I might have to strap some of this stuff down.
>> Now, this I haven't been through. I don't know what's in it.
>> Well, let's move some space and then we'll pull that forward.
>> Okay.
>> I don't know what's in here. It was way too dark in there to look. But these are the things that the guy was stealing these books.
And I don't know why, you know, some of them are from the 80s, but they're not super super old.
But he wanted these bad for some reason.
>> Yeah. I'm more interested in what's in here.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> So, that's a battery cover.
>> Yeah.
>> That might be for a Hudson >> 6VT. Tiny.
>> Definitely six. Mirrors.
>> Great. cuz that car doesn't have mirrors on it.
>> There's another one. But don't they don't match. But >> yeah, I don't know. That's not 50.
>> Oh, hey, was it missing one of these? I wonder.
>> Uh >> I can't remember.
>> It's not. He had to take them off to convert it. So that's probably the original from the car. Look at that.
>> Yeah, >> that's so cool.
>> Oh, here is this inside mirror. Look at that.
>> Yeah, that's an inside mirror.
>> That's still good.
>> Here is a uh master cylinder. Looks new.
Look at that.
>> Wow, >> that's cool.
>> There's another one. Is that what another one?
>> Another one.
>> That's new.
>> There's a lot of them >> that's been sitting around.
>> That's an ashtray. But there's a lot of those little lights in there. There's Yeah, here's one.
>> That's an interior light.
>> Oh, >> maybe when he cut the back off, these were in it.
>> Maybe.
>> Wow. He got a bunch of them, though.
>> Wow.
>> What else we got? This is a license plate light.
>> But that's not Hudson. That looks like more like 49 to 50 Chevy.
>> Look at that. It's a gas tank.
>> Yeah.
>> Nice.
>> He cut the doors and stuff off when he did that.
>> Yeah. Oh, dipstick. That's always good to have. That looks like a window piece.
>> Bolts.
>> Yeah.
>> Always good to have.
>> There's more of those. Look at all those.
>> Look at them all. Wa.
>> My gosh.
>> Is that another master?
>> Yes. Yep. And these, you know, they look terrible on the outside cuz they've been sitting around, but this is new. Is it any good? Well, that's another question.
Voltage regulator. Look at that. That's new, too.
>> Mhm.
>> Look at that. That's cool.
>> Look at this green. That color.
>> That looks like another gas tank.
>> Yeah, it does.
>> Oh, there's there's more gas tank doors in here.
>> Oh, yeah. There's one underneath that one. Wow.
>> Four gas tank doors. Oh, that's cool.
That must be a hood ornament, right?
>> Yeah, I think.
>> Nice.
>> Here's another one. There's another door handle.
>> Gosh, look at all this stuff.
>> That's pretty cool, too. Look at the style in that thing.
>> Wow.
>> H lots of lights. That's interesting.
>> Yep. I wonder what that is.
>> I don't know.
I'm sure someone out there knows.
>> Yeah, that's a heat shield of some type.
Not for that car, though. Oh, these are cool. That's an oil filter line. H.
use that.
>> Is that the only mystery box?
>> Uh, you know, I think it's the only mystery box, but I'm not sure because like I say, I was loading stuff as quick as I could and it was very dark in there, very loud, and very dirty. You know, one interesting thing that I learned while I was there, every car that was sold was sold to a flipper.
>> Really?
>> Yeah. None of the people that wanted the cars were keeping them. They were just flipping them. They were going to get them running and flip them.
>> Wow.
>> Yeah. It's kind of sad, isn't it?
>> Fact, the guy that bought the Ford said that he didn't even know anything about Fords.
>> Oh, wow.
>> He just bought it cuz he knew he could make money on it.
He didn't want to tell him. He probably won't, but that's a different >> Yeah, he paid quite a bit for that for >> He did. That's way overkill.
>> Okay, so now I guess we'll have to take some of this out and then come back again. We have some trim.
I don't know what it's to, but we've got some.
>> So, let's pull this stuff out and then we'll look cuz there's some boxes back there. Okay, you pulled everything out.
>> Yep.
>> Okay, let's see what we got.
>> We've got >> That is funny.
>> Classic asbestous roof cement.
>> That was on top of the um the can.
>> Yeah, it's solid, so it's not dangerous, but Yeah, that was on top of the lube.
Yeah, that's a really old can.
>> What's this all about? This more used brake shoes.
Yes. Look at how little those are.
>> You know, I wonder if he kept them because do you remember he had that >> brake shoeing? Yeah. All right.
>> A water pump and these things.
No idea what those are.
>> I know.
>> No idea. You know what these are? I think these go on a coil spring. Oh, I was going to say maybe a horse that does a weird foot.
>> Kind of looks like a >> Yeah, weird. It almost looks like the coil spring spacers, but this is this is trash. These slips are from 82.
>> No.
Uh 2000.
>> 2000. Okay. So far, this is really letting me down. We've got some new shocks, though. Three new ones.
>> Oh, yeah. Let's see those. Yeah. Three new gas charged shocks.
>> You say it's a let down. I say it's stuff we didn't pay for. It came with the car. How could it be a let down?
>> Not a used master cylinder, but it's got a brake bleeding kit in it.
>> Oh, okay.
>> So, apparently he never returned these cores for whatever reason.
>> Now, >> what else we got? The mowers.
>> Yeah, let's pull those out.
>> Yeah. Yeah, they're cool. Oh, this thing.
>> What is this, viewers? I you know I thought maybe it was for fishing, but I could be way off.
>> I'm sure someone knows what it's for.
>> But I don't have any idea.
>> So, here we are.
>> Yep.
We're going to do a second channel video on these three. See if I can get them all running. But these two are two-stroke.
>> Mhm.
>> I've never owned a two-stroke mower before. That is going to be super cool.
But they're in pretty nice shape.
They're used, but no, they're all there.
>> Yeah. So, when I was uh looking these up, well, first let me start by saying, Richard, tell them how much we got these for >> for all three. 707 >> $70.
>> Yeah.
>> Mhm. So, when I before the auction, I was looking all these up. And I had to show Richard because on eBay, even on Facebook, the Green ones are selling between $2 and $300 each. So, I knew there had to be something people loved about these that collected them. And even this tiny Wizard 18, it was cleaned up and selling for $200. So, Brard, actually, you mess with lawnmowers just just for Yeah. You just think it's kind of fun.
They're easy to fix. And I was like, you need to get those. you need to get those cuz I think you know we'll be able to resell those and you can tinker with them. So, but yeah, I think it's going to be funny. I just hope that you don't go to do a will it run video on these and then you put gas in it and pull the cord and they start. I think that would be funny.
>> The two-strokes might >> I know that's going to be funny. It'd be like the shortest will it run ever.
>> Two-stroke engines are very simple, but this guy, man, this guy has been used and abused.
>> No, this guy was loved.
>> Look at the tires.
>> He was loved. He was loved. Well, do could you think that could have happened over time? Like sitting in there? Could that have just fallen apart?
>> We don't know where they were stored, actually. We just know they were pulled out of somewhere.
>> And this wheel's different than all the others.
>> Is it?
>> So, this probably got used so much. It had a tire change.
But here's why these are worth a little bit right there.
It's a Western Auto.
>> Mhm.
>> Does it have gas on it?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> No. No, that's a good thing.
>> Oh, and your little sander.
>> Oh, yeah. Tool.
>> Can't forget about that.
>> How much was that? Like >> I probably overpaid. I think I paid what, $17 for this, but I need one. And >> you can't buy the new for $17.
>> It's an adjustable speed and stuff. And I think it's going to work out really well cuz I need one. Also on top of the car covered with cardboard. I didn't even know these were there. Are two pieces of glass which I believe is a rear window from Hudson and a front window from a newer Hudson than the Hel Camino because it's one piece. These are super cool to have just in case I end up owning another Hudson.
>> I think that's it other than the two big items that I can't wait to get here.
>> Yeah, me too.
>> So, you found out some history about that vehicle.
>> Yes.
>> Go ahead and share it because this is great. The granddaughter was there of the original owners of that place and she said that the guy converted a Hudson into a pickup cuz he wanted a pickup and he couldn't afford one and he drove it he converted it I think she said in the late 50s and used it up until 82.
>> No way.
>> I think that's what she said.
>> So it's a 51.
>> It's a 51. Yeah. So he converted it >> when it was less than 10 years old >> and used that until >> 82 >> when he bought the >> he bought that Ford F100 that's in there.
>> Wow.
>> Now he didn't use it every day. He used it when he needed a pickup.
>> Pretty cool, huh?
>> That is fascinating.
>> And she said it was running when it was put in there.
>> Mhm.
>> Which is music to my ears.
>> I think I believe it. I I mean he was a mechanic.
>> Yeah.
>> He tinkered with all that stuff.
>> Y >> I bet it was.
>> We'll find out. Fascinating.
>> Yeah, it is fascinating. And I'll tell you, after looking at that car today closer with all the junk off it. I am so excited.
>> I was excited a week ago.
>> I flipped the tailgate up and there's a license plate on it. It's just really >> Yeah, it's killer. The car.
>> Was there a tag on it?
>> A tag?
>> Yeah. When it was last tagged.
>> Yeah. I think it said 62.
>> No way.
