Secret Asian Stereotypes We Don't Want Going MainstreamAdded:
Okay, you guys are all familiar with different stereotypes. We've talked about so many times on like what the Chinese stereotype is or the Japanese stereotype is Vietnamese. What are some things that um you would like your culture or ethnicity to stop doing before it becomes a known stereotype?
>> I mean, I love stereotypes. I think there's truth to it and that's what makes it fun. And Hawaii, the culture is teasing everybody. That's that's like how we did grow. We we tease the Portuguese, the Filipinos, the Chinese, and like that's what brings us closer together. And nowadays, you know, people are so soft that like you can't say these >> [ __ ] >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. That's true. In Hawaii, like you could make hella racist jokes to each other, >> but we're all being racist towards each other.
>> Like it's all sensitive here.
>> Like usually you're you're the first people to know the stereotype. Oh, like what I don't want to other races and they go, "Oh, Japanese people all do this."
>> So, you're talking about what pre- stereotypes would you want to or you want to X out.
>> Like the thing I'm thinking for Filipinos is like I'm really [ __ ] hoping that like so there's a this internal stereotype that like Filipinos run uh health care home scams. Like I've known that my whole life, not other >> It's only internal.
>> Well, a lot of people don't know that.
I've been >> the nurses is ex external. The scams is probably internal.
>> It's not like a thing that a average person is going to go, "Ah, you care home scammer." That doesn't exist.
>> But like in Filipino culture, like everybody knows that that's like a problem.
>> So like it's I just saw like um you know like during all the Medicare uh fraud stuff that's been coming out, they started catching more and more Filipinos and I'm like, "Oh [ __ ] every time I see another one on the news, I'm like, "God damn it." Like >> a pre- stereotype for Chinese would be um that the parents don't love their kids.
>> That's the pre- stereotype. You don't think white people know that Chinese families are operate that way?
>> I don't know if I care if what other people think about that, but but I think everyone thinks that Chinese parents are normal and they love their kids.
>> Oh, do you think that? Do you think do you think that?
>> I never thought that. You already knew they don't love kids. Do >> you think people think that?
>> I don't think pe that the whites generally know that. See, >> I think that I have a unique perspective because I'm surrounded by Asian people all all the time.
>> Well, Stanley Wong's mom seemed like she left them, right?
>> Well, but see, that's kind of how all the kids in our neighborhood were treated the same way. It was like all the parents were kind of hard on the kids in the neighborhood.
>> Oh, okay.
>> Yeah.
>> There's got to be I think there maybe Yeah, that's a pre- stereotype, but I'm sure there's some kind of stereotype with like when when you're a kid and I I know like every classroom the stereotype is that the Chinese kid's the smartest kid.
>> Oh, for sure. in every like state there is in in the US >> how the [ __ ] Indians came.
>> That kid's not smart because he like usually he's he's smart like that because his parents make him to be that smart. It's like he's like forced to be >> cultural.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So maybe it's maybe it's like kind of on the border then.
>> Yeah.
>> You want that to change? How could you change that? How do you think you could suppress it?
>> I just want the Chinese parents to love their kids.
So you want you want the stereotype to be a misconception like >> like oh from his parents >> I think they love their kids.
>> No man you your mom has to love you her way only.
>> I know but >> I don't think they do checking off boxes. I like I want to HAVE KIDS.
>> OH >> HEY SHUT UP. YOU DON'T LIKE THAT. That's >> But that is that not Japanese too or is that just mainly Chinese?
>> [ __ ] dude. I don't know. I just grew up [ __ ] up so I can't represent Japan.
>> That's true. But is there like any deep cut Japanese American stereotypes that you know that are like >> Okay. I >> hope you guys stop doing this before >> not Japanese American, but right now Japan's hella romanticized cuz everyone's traveling and vlogging there, right?
>> It's overly romantic >> and they completely [ __ ] miss what's being said. Like there's a lot of trans like missed in translation when you go there, right? People go, "Japanese people are so [ __ ] nice. It's so polite. They're actually mean as [ __ ] but they you don't know that they're actually like oh passing like they're >> passive aggressive.
>> No, they're like insulting your ass with kindness, but you're too stupid to understand.
>> Like for example, >> let's say um your neighbor will greet you in the morning, right? And then you're like, "Hey, how's it going?"
Yeah. He goes, "Hey, dude. Like you guys must have had fun last night." Like, "Yeah, dude. Yeah, I heard like you had kids laughing and like you you have such a lovely family. like they're having a great time.
>> That's a subtle way of saying, "Shut the [ __ ] up."
>> Yeah. They say in a certain way.
>> But then foreigners would be like, "YEAH, YOU'RE SO NICE." YEAH, like we had a great time. Right.
>> Well, that's like Curb Your Enthusiasm did a bit on this.
>> Oh, really?
>> Where the uh Japanese uh Mater D or whatever was apologizing for like the soup spilling out of the bag when they gave it to him. So, he's like um he said sorry and went like this. And then the guy was telling another Japanese guy like, "Oh, the guy bowed maybe like this many degrees." And the Japanese guy's all [ __ ] bow.
>> [ __ ] the bow.
>> That's a [ __ ] It's like an insult bow.
But like it looks the same.
>> Yeah. It looks the same to like a white guy. Insult bow. Yeah. Apparently.
>> No, they're [ __ ] mean. So like people go, "Oh, they're so nice." Right.
>> Imagine like every [ __ ] is a Karen and they can't wait to ratch you out to the Gustapo. Okay.
>> Like everyone like in your they will never confront you to your face, >> but everyone [ __ ] if you do one thing off like let's say you like you're you live in an apartment and then they know that you're the [ __ ] that didn't close the lid correctly.
>> Everyone's going to hate you now.
>> They'll procedurally try to wreck your [ __ ] >> Yeah. Because you were the only one that didn't close the lid correctly. Now, not only did everyone hate you, now they're going to bully you.
>> So, Japan's like a big HOA.
>> [ __ ] yeah, dude. Bully though. They're going to bully with like a oh, you must have a good time.
>> I know, right? It's all nice.
>> What are you What are they going to do?
Just >> just be keep report. No, they'll keep reporting you.
>> You just won't know like why shit's like being vandalized and then like >> you're not going to know why your life is harder.
>> Yeah. Like Ryan style.
>> Yeah. That's where the it comes from.
Ninja.
>> No, you'll see [ __ ] vandalized. You'll see [ __ ] like [ __ ] up and you're like, "Why did someone slash my tires?" You know, like, "Yeah, >> what the That's a dude, that's a really good one."
>> And everyone will come and still the best kind of society.
>> And everyone shows up and they're like, "Oh man, that sucks." Like someone slashed your tires and it's like, "You did it, motherfucker." So when you see like when there's a thing on the news that shows, oh, at this uh soccer game, all the Japanese people in attendance cleaned up for everyone, that's really them saying, "You dirty [ __ ] We got to do this [ __ ] for you." you like but also them like oneupping each other.
>> Oh [ __ ] clean this [ __ ] Oh no. Well I you know how like they fight for the bill and like it's like think about it that way. So like everyone's fighting for the bill cuz they actually want to be big dog, right? So then they imagine that every [ __ ] day. That's why everything's orderly, everything's clean. Like that's it's not what you think, right? So you come in, they're like, "Oh, these people are so honorable and good." But the reality is like they're just [ __ ] vicious and one up each stereotype got out. It would shatter the image.
>> Yeah, >> it's that way because they're all Nazis.
>> No wonder Hitler loved them so much, right?
>> Dude, I didn't know that Cherry Blossoms things was was such an a huge tourism event.
>> Yeah, it's cool.
>> Yeah, Sakura, >> it was crazy.
>> Yeah.
>> Did you like it?
>> Well, all the every [ __ ] on Instagram was sharing that [ __ ] >> Yeah, it was everywhere. What's a Is there any like Do you know any white stereotypes that are about to come out?
>> I think they're all out.
I think they already got out. Yeah, we we got a lot of attention.
>> I think last couple >> You're well represented.
>> Yeah.
>> I feel like it's it's like a thing where to the general public, white people nowadays seem more prone to like selfhatred, which I think is hilarious.
That's true.
>> But I think a lot of that is is uh it's it's false. I think that's going to get out. I think the self-hatred is performative in a lot of ways.
>> It is. Of course, it is. Especially when people are the self-hatred is just on social media.
>> Yeah. But it's like the way that they move in general doesn't match how they say they are apologetic for all of like like oh sorry that I invaded your land.
I'm not leaving by the way and I'm going to make generations here.
>> Yeah. Well, that's that's how it always is.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> It's really funny. But they're the only ones really apologizing openly about that's true. all the things are still doing.
>> I mean, that's the thing. I guess what colonizing is our thing, but then that's everybody did that.
>> Yeah, >> everybody did that.
>> Everyone, >> not everybody's saying you guys owned it.
>> We owned it for sure.
>> But not everybody's like saying sorry every day for that, which is hilarious to me.
>> But they should, right?
>> Never say sorry.
>> What's the What's the new Vietnamese stereotype that's coming around the block?
>> Vietnamese. Okay. Um, this isn't a new one. This is the age-old secret. Uh, obvious Vietnamese stereotype. Vinnie's [ __ ] are [ __ ] crazy, dude. Don't get with them. Run away. Right.
Everybody knows this. Do you think everybody knows this?
>> I grew up knowing that.
>> Yeah, everybody knows.
>> I think you're in the Asian circle you did, but slightly outside. I don't think you do.
>> Well, white people will date anything exotic looking, so that's okay. That's okay. They're going to go for it anyway.
>> Sure. Yeah.
>> Well, that's my fetish.
>> But man, it's a lie, dude. Vinnie's [ __ ] are actually the best. And we don't And we don't want them we don't want them leaking out, you know, and [ __ ] diluting our bloodline and stuff like that. So that's why we say that we put it out. And these girls, they sacrifice themselves. They're soldiers to the cause. And they actually go out there and they're indoctrinated into it at a young innocent age. And they're just like, I have to do this for my culture and my country. And they go out there and they [ __ ] [ __ ] to people just so they could be like, I need to preserve the [ __ ] sacred virgin bloodline and ovary section to keep within the Vietnamese men. Yeah. And we don't want people to know that mainstream.
>> How come you didn't get the Vietnamese check then?
>> I wasn't good enough. I'm half Chinese.
It's not pure blood. I'm not pure blood.
I'm actually 100% Chinese. Kind of.
Yeah, I'm not really pure blood. I I identify as Vietnamese. Um, the Chinese one. There's also a Chinese one. Don't No, Japanese people are Jewish.
>> Keep calling each other Jewish.
>> You gamble.
>> He has a He has a fake name.
>> I gamble and drink like I'm I'm Vietnamese.
>> Culturally Vietnamese.
>> And I I'm more Vietnamese culturally than I'm Chinese.
>> Ethnically Chinese.
>> Yeah. If I was really Chinese, I'd probably like have a lot more money. I'd probably have a lot more children. I'd probably uh treat my parents a certain way. Would you not love your kids too?
>> It's not about that. It's >> just about >> making sure it keeps going. That's all.
>> You just have a lot of kids. But >> and then it's also you do it and then it's like when I get old, you have to take care of me. It doesn't matter if you like me.
>> Seems he's too deep not to love his kids.
>> Yeah.
>> I feel like Chinese people are just very utilitarian.
>> Everything is just like >> the stere the stereotype for China that we don't want to get out there is that there's a clear stereotype also around the world. Chinese people are kind of like a virus where they just go somewhere and they multiply. They multiply like the host body and then they just become that there's China everywhere and then the largest diasporas in every [ __ ] area. Every country is Chinese, right?
>> But I like that you get Chinese food.
>> Yeah. But the thing is the stereotype is like people are doing that but it's like no they're not trying to take over the world. But it's like they are trying to take over. They are also indoctrinated at a very young age where you're supposed to go out there and you're supposed to multiply like a virus until we can overall take the entire planet.
>> But at least they do it in a nice way.
>> Yeah. At least there's benefits to the locals. in the same nice way that freaking Japanese people are nice. I'll tell you that.
>> But that's what technically that's every what every country is doing like right like for why they immigrate. Like nobody's immigrating just to like not >> multiply.
>> No, you're right. Everywhere I've been Chinese like the two things um blew my mind growing up was you doing a backflip on your head.
>> True.
>> And then going to Spain and seeing a Chinese person speak perfect Spanish.
>> Yeah. every single part of the world.
>> Madagascar connection. Madagascar. You go in, there's a Chinese place.
>> Wow.
>> No, they they're they're in the city.
They're in their their city. But they speak Malagasi.
>> Please are probably from China.
>> Yeah, they they speak perfect Malagasi.
Everywhere I've gone, there's a Chinese person and they own a restaurant or something and they speak the the language perfectly.
>> So there were Chinese restaurants in Madagascar.
>> Yeah. and they spoke >> run by all like Chinese family.
>> That's true. Cuz when you do like a road trip and you're like in middle America and all of a sudden you see China buffet and you're like how the [ __ ] did all these Chinese people get here?
>> I don't even know how they get the ingredients over there or anything.
>> It's like your Patel motel concept.
>> Have you heard of that? Have you heard of that thing?
>> Is that is that just like Indian people creating motel?
>> But it's the Patel like clan like the like everyone from like the Patel family. He was bullshitting, making that up, and then the comments were like, "No, it's real." Like all these Indian guys were like, "Yeah, that's actually how it goes."
>> Yeah. Doesn't a lot of Indian people um own stuff here in Vegas?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> They own stuff. They own stuff everywhere. Yeah.
>> Thanks.
>> There's actually a lot of Indian people in Hawaii. You notice that?
>> I actually don't. I was going to ask that. I don't think so, >> dude. There's Okay, just look for Indian restaurants and how many there there's even an Indian market.
>> Yeah, but do Indian people run those restaurants or is a Chinese person running?
>> That's true.
Okay, next time you're in Haliva, check these [ __ ] shell stores and crystal shops. It's always an Indian people with the crystal.
>> Yeah, dude.
>> Yeah.
>> Why'd you have the dolls in this?
>> Because All right. I started noticing the the the in like Okay. They're like the Chinese like they find their like thing, right? So like what I notic is all these gift shops with like the you know like the what do you call the totem poles or the tikis and [ __ ] >> and then like they have the fabrics if you go to every single gift shop it's a Indian family and then you'll be like in like country like you'll be like northshore whatever and you'll see like the wind chimes and [ __ ] and you're like oh [ __ ] this is cool like a local lady with a sorry dot like hella hardcore like Indian aloha you know and I'm like What the [ __ ] >> Maybe we're going to different places on the island cuz I >> Well, you don't go to gift shops.
>> That's true.
>> Why would a local go to a gift shop?
>> Yeah. Yeah. I go to Costco and bring good gifts to other people >> cuz that's where that's Yeah. Like if you got this [ __ ] at the Indian market, dude, 10 times the price.
>> That's true. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
