What Went Wrong With Acura?

[00:00:00]We are back at an Acura dealership.

[00:00:01]Looks like this RDX just has completely flat tires. Looks like it hit a curb or something. Damage the wheels then they're both flat. But we are at Park Place Acura in Dallas, Fort Worth. Check it out some of the inventory they have on their lot and see them what it cost.

[00:00:15]Now obviously, we're not going to see some of the iconic vehicles that we're so used to seeing like the TLX, the RLX, the NSX. Man, what happened to Acura?

[00:00:25]Definitely not who they used to be, but they have an Integra Type S right up front, which is surprising. They brought the Integra back and they even brought the Type S. 2026 Integra Type S, but it is $55,000.

[00:00:38]55,700 with a 2.0, but it does have a manual transmission, which is so good to see. At least they gave the manual transmission in the Type S. Very good to see that. With the fuel economy of 21 in the city, 28 in the highway, six-speed manual transmission, man. Manual transmissions are getting so rare even as an option. You know what I mean?

[00:01:00]2026, almost every brand they're getting rid of it. They don't want to build a manual because they are, you know, a little slower selling. There's a lot of people that just can't drive them. They don't want to drive them. It is what it is. And so manufacturers just don't build them. Now they have the RDX right here. Let's check out the RDX. This is actually one 08. Didn't even see it.

[00:01:18]Looks like they have some add-ons over here. Let's see. Yeah, we got 799 plus 599. Brings it up to 57 after the add-ons. It looks like it's cargo tray, all season mats, and wheel locks for $800. Now, yeah, I mean, you can get the sponsor we've had on this channel. You can get, you know, floor mats way cheaper. So I don't even know why you would go $799 then cargo tray? That's like $20 in the parts department. And then wheel locks? Probably $59. If you call this dealership's parts department and say how much are the wheel locks for an Integra Type S? They're going to say, "Yeah, it'll be, you know, 59, 89, or however much they charge." But I know one thing and they ain't going to be $799.

[00:02:00]So, that's kind of crazy. But, let's check out this RDX here, see how much it cost. Let's see, we're at $54,000 for this one. Now, the RDX it used to have a V6 as an option. Now, you only get the four-cylinder turbo. Now, it also has when it first got redesigned 2019, it was the new thing that Acura had. 2026 RDX, 52 over here. Fuel economy 21 in the city, 26 in the highway. When they redesigned it in 2019, they redesigned it and it was the new thing. Now, Acura kind of based everything off of this platform when the interior, the exterior, everything. But, I kind of miss the old design, you know, I miss the old MDX, the old RDX. It's just they were a little bit more simple even though they had the double screen thing which a lot of people didn't like, but overall, I mean, these are you know, it's more tacky, I think, the new design, but they did bring the Type S MDX which is kind of a cool thing that they actually have now available. And they're sitting on the lots. 2026 MDX Type S, 77, almost 78 grand, but that's probably why they're sitting on the lots. But, to actually see Type S is sitting on a lot is pretty crazy. From MDX to Integras, these were supposed to be flying off the lots, but not anymore.

[00:03:14]The most desirable Acura model, 70, almost 80 grand though. It's just too much money for an Acura MDX in the market we're in. There's a lot of manufacturers, but now there's also an Acura ADX over here. This is an ADX, kind of a small vehicle. It really is just basically an HR-V. It's a very, very expensive HR-V. Let's see here, 2026 ADX all-wheel drive, $42,000, but it has a CVT with a 1.5T.

[00:03:45]Looks like someone left a door open on it or something, but you got to think for this amount of money, 1.5 turbo engine, and it literally has a CVT, and it's a 40-something thousand-dollar small SUV in 2026, you would think you're getting more from Acura. You know, a brand that was just known for a lot of things. Now, I will say with the regular MDX, they still offer the V6.

[00:04:10]They actually still offer over here.

[00:04:12]They have a bunch of the MDXs, I believe, over here. They still offer the 3.5 V6, which is good to see because a lot of manufacturers, they want to switch it over to some sort of turbo four-cylinder or whatever, even Acura, even Honda is doing that as much as they can, but still to see and there's another Type S right there. Wow, they got a bunch of them in stock on the lot, but this regular MDX, 3.5 V6, man, on an MDX right now, let's see, $62,000.

[00:04:44]The whole saving grace with the MDX in 2026 is strictly because of the engine options they have available. Let's see, there's another MDX Type S right here.

[00:04:54]What do you guys think? They got some different kind of wheels on them. It is the Type S, for sure. 2026 MDX all-wheel drive Type S advanced package. Oh, this is a service loaner. Wow, that's surprising that they actually Honda does their service loaner program a little bit different. They're actually predetermined on which vehicles are going to go in that program, and then the dealership gets paid, generally around 50 to 70 dollars per day that the vehicle is in the service loaner program and out for use with a customer. So, the dealership gets paid for these vehicles, and then they actually put them back out on the lot whenever they get some mileage, but it's crazy to see Type S in the service loaner program. I just wouldn't think I got to give it to Honda on that one. They actually uh because normally with the service loaners, you know, if you have your vehicle in service and you're waiting, you know, something's getting done with it, you're you're going to buy a Type S MDX for 80 grand and then you're going to get stuck with the base model all the time. Every single time. I mean, same deal with every manufacturer almost. So, to see an actual Type S Advanced in stock on the lot going for the service loaner program is kind of surprising.

[00:06:04]Let's see here, 39,000. This is an Integra that's not a Type S. This is just an A-Spec, which is just like a you know, they black things out. They It's just It's just a look package to make it look more sporty. Surprisingly, they put a Type S in their service loaner program. But, as you see, they got all the inventory they ever need.
