Cash stuffing is a budgeting method where you allocate cash from each paycheck into separate envelopes or containers for different expense categories, including variable expenses (like groceries and gas), long-term sinking funds (for large infrequent expenses like insurance and car maintenance), short-term sinking funds (for regular expenses like subscriptions and family activities), and savings challenges (for specific financial goals like birthdays and holidays). This systematic approach helps individuals track spending, build savings, and achieve financial goals by physically handling cash and visually monitoring progress toward each category's target amount.

Cash Stuffing $1,775 | June No. 3 | Sinking Funds + Savings Challenges | For Beginners
Added:Hey everyone, welcome and welcome back to the Missy Money channel. I'm Missy, I'm a mom of three and the owner of Missy Money, a small business that specializes in minimalist and aesthetic cash stuffing essentials to help inspire and motivate you on your personal finance and budgeting journey. Today, I'm going to be cash stuffing my third paycheck of June including variable expenses, sinking funds, and savings challenges. Stay tuned.
>> [music] [music] >> All right, guys. So, it is my third paycheck and pay period of June and I'm going to attempt to make this a more efficient cash stuffing because this is quite a busy weekend for me work wise.
We are coming up on my team's media day which is a very, very, very busy um weekend in preparation for that this week and um and it's super busy for me and my team. So, because of that, I will have definitely lots of work hours this weekend. So, we are going to try to make this as efficient as possible. So, I'm going to go ahead and start as I always do by checking and seeing what's left in my wallet from this past pay period and for any leftover cash deciding if I'm going to roll that over into the next pay period or unstuff and contribute to savings challenges. So, groceries has $20 left. We will go ahead and unstuff that. Gas, I did not fill up, but I will need to early this week. So, I'm going to go ahead and roll that over. Spending money was fully spent. Say yes. I've got a 10 left. I will go ahead and unstuff that. Be kind was spent and then miscellaneous, I've got a 20 and a few singles left. So, I'll go ahead and unstuff that. And then spent, I don't have anything that I need to do right now because I just did my weeks one and two unstuffing and then I won't need to touch that until my weeks three and four unstuffing which will be at the end of this month. So, I've got this amount of cash left. I'm going to go ahead and put that in the back of my cash tray and we will contribute that to savings challenges towards the end of this video. So, again, for efficiency's sake, I went ahead and stayed with my same plan that I've done for the past 2 weeks. It's been working well for me, so I have that plan written out on my cash planning notepad, and I will go ahead and keep that off to the side so I can reference it. And for this week, I will be cash stuffing $1,775 in these denominations. So, I will go ahead and get this all placed into my cash tray here. I had so many 10s with like little markings on them. I don't know how cash gets the little marker markings on them, but most of my 10s had it this week, so not the most perfect bills, but we'll take them. Not too bad.
All right, let's get this all set up in the cash tray.
And then we will go ahead and start by getting my wallet back out and getting it all set for the week here. All right, groceries.
Groceries is going to get $250.
Eating out will get 150.
Gas is going to get another 50. That'll be more than I need with the rollover funds, but um but the past couple of times that I've filled up, it has gone out over that $50 mark, so I'll make sure that I've got enough there.
Spending money is going to get $40.
And then say yes will also get 40.
Be kind will get $5.
I'm going to grab this one that looks like it's bent.
Here we go.
And then miscellaneous will get a 50, and that will be it for getting my wallet ready for the week.
All right, guys. Let's hop into long-term sinking funds here. So, starting with insurance, I did go ahead and pay my premium this past week. So, we will start saving up for the next time I pay the premium, which will be in um December. So, I've a little ways to go there. So, we're going to contribute 30 this week. And that will bring me to 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90. So, starting with a good head start for that next premium.

10 and a five. So, family tickets now has 50, 150, 250, 60, 70, 80, 90, 305.
10, 15. And then I will have that monthly payment on my next unstuffing. So, that will be enough to cover that one. And that is it for my long-term sinking funds.
Next, we've got short-term sinking funds.
So, starting with shopping, shopping is going to be getting $40 this week.
So, it now has 20, 40, 60, 80, 120, 40.
Clothing is going to get $30 this week. So, that will put clothing at 20, 30, 40, 50.

And then last is Oops. Oops is going to get a 20.
So, Oops will now be at 20 40 60 80 120 and 30.
All right.
Straighten my tray there, and that's it for short-term sinking funds.
All right, guys. Let's pop into savings challenges. And before I do that, I need to reorganize my cash tray here.
See what we have got to contribute. I do have a few singles.
A couple of 20s and a 10. Okay, perfect.
So, let's start with my 12-month savings challenge here.
And we will flip back to June. Let me get my pen.
We are halfway through June. So, I'm going to go ahead and do 200. Come on.
There we go. 200 and we'll do $60 to 60 this week.
And then I will be able to do 13 symbols for that. So, All right. So, that puts us in great shape for finishing this challenge next week.
And then we will be officially halfway there. Halfway through the 12-month savings challenge. For those of you that are doing the 12-month savings challenge this year with me, please drop a comment below. I'd love to know um just who's kind of completing this challenge as I'm completing it and wish you a happy almost halfway done.
All right, let's pop in a birthdays. Do a little bit here.
My birthday's done. Mav the nator is very close to being done. So, let's do a row for him.
25 will be a row, so we'll go ahead and do that.
And that means that I will only have one more row for him. So, if I do kind of this last row next week, then he will be completely fully funded, which is great.
And same thing for his party. So, let's go ahead and do a row for his party. And then that means we'll need a 50 for that. And then that means that next week I'll be able to finish his party, too, which is great.
And then we can move on to the kind of the next set and getting those all settled.
Mav's and my birthday are both in January, so we're about actually more than 6 months ahead on these, which is awesome if we finish it out next week.
And then we'll move on to kind of Cali's birthday, Cali's party, Dan's birthday, and then Remy's I haven't started, but we've got a good long time for that. So, we'll be in good shape for birthdays.
Next, let's get into holidays here.
All right, 4th of July.
Oh, cookout's fully funded. We are spending that in the next about week and a half with Dan's brother coming to town and we will be hosting them. So, I will put the three singles I had into 4th of July.
>> I don't know if I'll be able to finish this one out with just singles alone, but I'll be pretty darn close. So, if I need to throw a five in there just to finish it in time for 4th of July, I can do that, but I'm not worried about that challenge. So, we'll just keep going with the singles until we're down to the deadline on that one. Celebrate, we will do a 20.
Check on that.
All right, Halloween, we're just going to do one this week. We're in pretty good shape, so I will do a 10 for Halloween.
Thanksgiving, I've got a five, so I'll do a five here.
Black Friday, I've got a 10, so I'll do that.
All right, Christmas, I'll go ahead and do I've got a 50, so we'll go ahead and do the 50.
All right, and then big game, I am going to do 50 as well.
I'll have to do that as two 20s and then turn this week. So, that will be good for the big game and then that will be Well, she wrote on this one.
And that is it for this binder.
And last we'll pop into 1 month ahead and the rest of this will go into 1 month ahead. So, first thing I'm going to do is jump back to child care and we are going to finish this challenge out.
I need $200 to do it. So, there's 100 20, 40, 60, 80, 2 hundo.
And that is it guys for child care. So, we are through the three biggest challenges in this whole set now between mortgage, debt, and child care, which is incredible.
And that will make the rest of it go quite quickly here. So, all in here I should have $2,000.
And so, we are going to go ahead and give this account.
And the first thing we're going to have to do is organize this because it is a little bit of a hot mess. So, I've got my $1,000 placeholder. Hopefully, you can see that full tracker. Let's organize the rest of this.
All right. So, All right. So, we have 1,100, 200, 300, 400, 50, 500, 50.
570, 590, 610, 630, 650, 670, 690, 710, 730, 715, 770, 790, 810, 830, 850, 870, 890, 910, 930, 950, 970, 990. $2,000 total saved for child care. Amazing.
Amazing that that one is done.
So, that is all set, and the next time I do a condensing, I will be able to condense that to a $2,000 placeholder, and then mark that one is fully funded, kind of similar to how I did my mortgage one here. So, got that one done.
Placeholders, that way the actual cash is sitting in the bank and earning interest. Um, and then I just kind of have a fully funded placeholder sitting on top, so I can flip through it quickly as I'm flipping through the challenge. But, that is super exciting, like I said, next condensing, I'll go ahead and do that to this one, and that will be, I think, at the end of this month is when I'm going to do my next one.
All right, friends, let's go through and just pick a couple challenges to make this easy. So, I will do $30 for cable, which will put me at halfway done with cable.
We'll finish this row.
So, halfway done with cable.
All right, and then let's see we can do 30 for memberships, too.
>> Awesome.
And then I've got a 20. Is there any good place to put it here?
Let's put it in, kids.
I'll do two symbols on that.
All right.
And that is it, guys.
That's it for this cash stuffing. So, thank you so much for joining me for my third week of June. I hope you all are having an amazing month. As always, just want to take a moment to say thank you so much for supporting my channel, supporting the store, and all the ways that you do.
