Sin is defined as lawlessness (1 John 3:4), meaning it is the breaking of God's law, and Christians must call sin what it is rather than remaining silent, as demonstrated by the story of Sodom and Gomorrah where God judged a city for its lawlessness; however, through faith in Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, believers receive grace and forgiveness, with love being the fulfillment of the law rather than legalistic rule-keeping.

Christians Need to Call Sin What It Is Again | At Home with Phil RobertsonAdded:
Remember this definition. You say, "What's the definition of lawlessness?"
Because we're looking at our country now. We're saying, "What in the world?"
First John chapter 3, verse 4.
John the Apostle, the one whom Jesus loved, everyone who sins breaks the law.
In fact, sin is lawlessness.
Lawlessness. You say it's all sin.
By the way, don't you think it a little ironic that all the political pundits, all the talking heads, all of the news media, all of the institutions of higher learning, all of Hollywood, I say all, nearly all of them. I'm trying to remember the last time I heard someone say one little word.
Sin.
I mean, it's like it doesn't exist. You say, "Why is that?" Because lawlessness, sin is ruling in our country.
I gave you three text regarding lawlessness.
three or four. 1 John 3:4, everyone who sins breaks the law. God's law. In fact, sin is lawlessness.
You look around in America, you say, "We never even mention sin anymore. Not the news media, not Hollywood for sure. No institution of higher learning that I know of.
Maybe a few Liberty University, they're mentioning it. few of the Christian schools.
The Lord said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me." He sent two angels that look like men, sent them down to the earth to check out a couple of cities.
The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening. Lot was sitting in the gate gateway of the of the city. When he saw them, the angels, he uh got up and he met them with his face to the ground. My lords, he said, please turn aside to your servants's house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on on your way early in the morning. Y'all spend the night here in the town.
No, they answered. We'll spend the night in the square. We'll just sleep outside.
We all right. We're good. But he insisted, Lot, that's a nephew of Abraham. He insisted so strongly, "No, y'all, you boys, y'all need to come inside. You need to get inside his house. I wonder why." He insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. So now the two angels who looked like men are inside Lot's house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, they ate.
Before they had gone to bed, all the men, y'all listening, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom, check this out, both young and old.
All of them surrounded the house. You like it's a mob. They've all shown up and they encircled the house where the two angels are inside the house with Lot who look like men.
They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight?
Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
H that's a strange request.
Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him. He said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.
Look, I have two daughters who've never slept with a man. I'll give you my own daughters. Let Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you want to with them." Which that ain't saying much for Lot's daughters, but that's what he offered them. But don't do anything to these men, for they've come under the protection of my roof.
Now, listen to the response. And you want to know about lawlessness?
Get out of our way, they replied.
They said, "This fella came here as an alien and now he wants to play the judge. We can't have sex who we want to, when we want to. You get them guys out of here.
We'll treat you worse than them."
They kept bringing pressure on light and move forward to break down the door.
But the men inside, the one sent by God, the angels, reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door.
Then they struck the men. The angels struck this mob. They struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness.
So the angels blinded all of them. So they could not find the door. They're all gring around on the ground saying, "What in the world?" All of them are blind.
The two men, the angels, said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here?
Son-in-laws, sons or daughters, anyone else in the city who belongs to you? You got any kin folks around here?
Get them out of here because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it. We just want to come down here and to make sure that's what this bunch was up to.
Bad news for this city. Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-laws who had who had pledged to marry his daughters. He said, "Hurry and get out of here because the Lord is about to destroy this city." With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot saying, "Hurry, take your wife and your two daughters who are here or you'll be swept away when this thing is punished.
This thing is fixing to burn.
When he hesitated, the men grasped his hands and the and the hands of his wife and his two daughters and led them safely out of the city. For the Lord was merciful to them. It's just a story in a Bible.
Uh you can take it or you can leave it. Genesis 19. I read it. I just read it to you.
2,000 years later, the Apostle Peter, second Peter chapter 2:4, "If God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment, even the angels." Then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials. You say, "You better trust in the Lord and you better do what's right."
Everyone since Jesus showed up can be forgiven of every instance of sexual immorality with men or women. Women with women, men with men, men with women, women with you say doesn't make any difference. Everybody can be forgiven. All of them.
But they're going to have to turn to Jesus by faith and repent and die to sin and be buried and raised in a pool of water. You're like, "They can all be forgiven."
God's there saying, "I'll forgive all of you. You'll turn to me." He'll hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment while continuing their punishment. You say, "What is their punishment?"
40 million are now deceased because of the disease that spreads from homosexual behavior. 40 million worldwide.
Their punishment for disobeying God. Coincidence that 40 million people died from a sexually transmitted disease, that particular one, and others have died from other diseases, syphilis and all this. You're like, "How many people in America have a sexually transmitted disease at any given time?" According to the Center for Disease Control, 110.
110 million.
You're like, "Good grief. That's a third of us."
This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant. These men slander celestial beings. They badmouth God. They badmouth me for telling you the truth about this.
You say it's a dangerous road to go down. They make law after law, statute after statute.
They've legalized murder, the removal of the murder of children from their mother's wombs. They practice and parade their perversion in front of us. And you say all lawlessness.
Lawlessness from top to bottom. You're like filthy mouths, robbery, rape, murders, shootings, schools, concerts, churches.
You're like the whole thing it just crumbling down on itself.
You say champions of immorality and perversion.
I'm watching it and just like Lot before me.
It just sickens me to watch it. It's never going to end. It's never going to end until we say we need to quit being so sinful. Lawlessness.
Put your faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
He went back into heaven. He's there 247 to keep you cleansed from your mistakes as a Christian. He's brought you grace instead of law.
You say, "I escape lawlessness by putting my faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus who brings me grace. There's provision finally for my lawless ways, the blood of Jesus.
Repent. be baptized. You're in Jesus.
You're added to the kingdom. It's here on the earth. I'm a member of it. We move around on planet Earth and we're trying to get people to change their behavior and turn to God.
What is the downside of loving God and loving your neighbor? No lawkeeping.
You're not under law. You're under grace.
Love is the fulfillment of the law.
Love your neighbor and all the commandments that are given will be fulfilled. You love your neighbor, you won't murder him. You love your neighbor, you won't steal from him. You love your neighbor, you won't mess with his woman.
Why don't we just love one another as human beings?
Be kind to each other. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, self-control.
You're like, "It'll work.
