Government gang intervention programs can be exploited by criminal organizations, as demonstrated by the case of Big U, a leader of the Rolling 60 Crips who allegedly received $80,000-$500,000 annually from the City of Los Angeles through nonprofit organizations to reduce gang violence while simultaneously engaging in extortion, directing robberies, and managing a rap career, highlighting how systemic corruption and lack of oversight in government programs can enable criminal organizations to profit from public funds intended for community safety.

Los Angeles Paid The Crips to Reduce Gang ViolenceAdded:
Imagine being a gang leader and then getting $80,000 from the city of Los Angeles to do gang intervention. If you're the gang leader, what's the gang intervention? The city's essentially paying y'all to bang on people. How did the rolling 60 crypts get government contracts in Los Angeles, California?
Well, I'm sure most of you know it's because of Big U. Allegedly, he hasn't been found guilty, but he is currently facing multiple federal charges for some real mob activity. Stuff we don't even usually associate with LA. I mean, a branch of the Gambino family is in LA, but we talking about the Crips. The arrest of Big U was a huge story last year and then it kind of died out. And something I heard that kind of flew over my head was the fact that he had nonprofits receiving millions of dollars to be part of gang reduction. And for some reason, it didn't hit me until 2026 that LA was paying the Crips to reduce gang banging. This what the feds are saying, not Drop University. And somebody was approving these contracts.
His main company was directly named in city paperwork going all the way back to 2011, signed by the city clerk and approved by the mayor. But did no one know he was with the role in 60s? It's not really that surprising because LA and California in general has so much money that goes unaccounted for every single year. So, it's not like he had to be a mastermind to pull this off. He likely just needed a LLC and to make the right phone calls at city hall. But the contracts are awarded through the gang reduction and youth development program, which is part of the mayor's office for community safety. pretty crazy now considering that he's being accused of murder and extortion. But the contracts are approved by the LA city council. But when I tried to see who was in charge of the department that was actually being awarded the contracts, I found two program directors that were in charge during the time where he was making money, but they're at the very top. And when I was trying to understand how all of this happened, I realized that it would be the people on the ground level that get to meet these nonprofit organizations and see what's happening like outside, not in city hall, like on the streets where people are gang banging. Big U is being accused of extorting local businesses and making high-profile celebrities check in with the Rolling 60 Crips when they landed in LA. Or extortion.
>> Movie production in the hood.
>> That's how we do it, young man.
>> Top flight, baby.
>> GB running this here uh movie set >> in the hood. Come on out here.
>> Coming out here and checking in with GB getting his movies done. You better know it. church.
>> Anytime you want to do movies in the hood, just go check it in.
>> We can make sure it's done. Movies, videos, but if you don't check it in.
>> Oh, well, just going to check your out.
>> We going to check you in. All right, we going to do we going to check it all of your equipment.
>> All while he was being paid to reduce gang violence. But to be honest, from what he's been accused of, he might have actually succeeded. Maybe he did reduce the gang activity in his area. every gang aside from the roll in the 60s. I mean, but I got to be fair, he did appear to be working in the community.
He was involved in and accused of a lot of different things, but he was heavily involved in things like toy drives and crunch. And he was also a coach and organizer for a youth football program.
He was doing interviews. He had a podcast. He was literally seen as a leader in LA, which doesn't help his current charges because that's exactly what the feds are accusing him of being.
But it's honestly crazy how he pulled all of this off if he is indeed guilty.
He's accused of directing a lot of money to himself, but he did seem to kind of do what he was being paid to do. It won't help the murder charges with that man found in the desert, though. And that, by the way, happened in January 2021. And apparently, while Big U was getting over $500,000 a year from the city, he was also managing a rap career of Rashan Williams, a friend of his son who also played football. And according to the Las Vegas police, Rashan made a song that police believe was a direct disc to Big U. And in the song, Williams appeared to actually predict the way that someone would kill him, saying that it would be a 38 revolver, which is the exact weapon the feds are accusing Big U of shooting him with before leaving him in the desert. But all of this, if true, shows exactly what would happen if gangs were as organized as some people think.
Very rarely do we see an accurate depiction of a street gang in movies or series. But this, a gang leader collecting extortion money, extorting people for the privilege to come to LA, directing robberies, and then having meetings at city hall. allegedly. That is exactly what would happen in some Amazon Prime series about a gang that I would normally call inaccurate, but in this case it's true. And aside from The Mob, the only other example of something like this I've seen was all the way back in the60s when the Black Pea Stones, a gang in Chicago, got almost a million dollars in federal grants. And while we're at it, the mayor of Chicago took a $150,000 check from Lil Durk before he was arrested on federal murder for higher charges. Do you feel like you should donate that to charity or uh do something with that money? Is it tainted?
>> Well, I mean, you know, look um you know, I don't operate in feelings. You know, I operate in truth and justice.
>> He spent it and ABC Chicago found the donation from The Voice Touring LLC in June 2023, but they found it back in 2024. As of right now, I can't find it.
The only donation I see from June 2023 to Friends of Brandon Johnson, the same one ABC showed, is this one. And as a matter of fact, every single donation shown on ABC is gone. $237,000 in donations that just disappeared. So either ABC completely made this up or all of these donations were hidden from public record after being shown on the biggest news station in Chicago. And I couldn't really find much on these companies, but this one is a labor union in LA. Apparently one with a very unprofessional staff. Where's that money, Brandon? Anyway, this type of thing happens, but according to the feds, Big U was literally taking money out of his own community and putting it back in his pocket, like Robin Hood, if Robin Hood was robbing the hood. This is not the type of community activist you need. Big U was even accused of transferring charity donations directly into his bank account. The feds say that Shaq donated $20,000 and Draymond Green donated another 20,000 and Big U put that money right with the over $100,000 he took from this charity fund he was running. Did y'all notice this? when the Big You thing came out that it low-key meant LA was paying the Crips to do gang intervention. Crazy, man. But this is just some thoughts I had with a little research that I shared with you. We got more real videos coming soon.
