ANC's plan to BAN self-defence | Economy Rebounds or a FAKE Recovery?Added:
Well, ladies and gentlemen, two main stories to talk about today. The first is the economy and the second is crime.
Because as you all know in South Africa, two of the major issues for pretty much everybody is the economy and crime. But before we get on to the main stories of today, can I again remind you if you haven't already, please subscribe to the channel. But more importantly, do comment on this video because the YouTube algorithm rewards comments and engagement. So the more you comment, the better the video performs. So let's get on to the first news story and that is that Moody's has changed South Africa's credit outlook from stable to positive.
Now the actual sovereign rating remains BA2 which is still below investment grade. Now Moody says that the improved outlook is due to better revenue collection, a rising primary budget surplus and expectations that government debt may stabilize. But Moody still warns about long-term growth because we don't have any inequality, emergency risks, and global shocks. Now, this all comes at the same time the government continues to take large foreign loans.
Now, Treasury recently secured $150 million US, that's around $2.5 billion rand in an OPEC loan for infrastructure bottlenecks in energy and freight transport. Now, this follows a $ 1.5 billion US World Bank loan and a $474.6 million African Development Bank loan and a $200 million euro German climate loan. Now, many economists are warning that foreign currency loans can become more expensive as the rand weakens. Now, if you know anything about South Africa's borrowing rates in the past, they've been rather strategic and that they borrowed in rand. So, even when the rand deflates, they still only pay back in rand borrowed. Borrowing in foreign currency, well, long-term it doesn't spell well. Unless you have growth rates, then people want to invest in your currency because if your currency deflates in value, you still have the same dollar value to pay, which actually means that in terms of rand values, you have more to pay. So, it's a very dangerous strategy and that's the strategy that the ANC is now adopting.
Why? Well, because it's kind of desperate for money. Now, some economists are arguing that borrowing in is unavoidable because government spending exceeds tax revenue. And this is one of the main things that credit agencies have been warning South Africa about for the longest time. The foreign loans can be cheaper than domestic borrowing purely because of the interest rates and because you can get them at a cheaper rate elsewhere.
But borrowing in foreign currency really really risky. Now South Africa's total debt now exceeds 5 trillion rand around 78% of GDP.
Long-term this isn't sustainable. But for some reason Moody says everything looks more like it's on the up. I'm not sure how because in another news article, Treasury is preparing to rebalance the books after its temporary fuel levy relief. Now, the finance minister Iduana says that the fuel levy cut cost the fiscus around 17.2 billion rand in lost revenue. Now, that relief, you wouldn't know it because I know when I went to full up, I was like, "Wow, petrol is expensive." Now the relief was introduced after Trump's war with Iran and the government reduced the general fuel levy by a whole whopping three rand per liter to cushion consumers because currently diesel would be like 40 rand a liter if they didn't do that. Now the relief is expected to be phased out with no clear signal of another extension. So that idea that they cushioned us from the costs that it could have been, find out what those are pretty soon when the government phases out the relief. Now fuel prices still reach record levels with diesel reportedly breaching 31 rand according to the article, but I must say that where I live was like 34 rand per liter. Nearly 35 rand was kind of expensive. So I'm not sure where 31 came from. I'd take 31. Anyway, moving on to land reform because the government says that land restitution has roughly cost around 60 billion rand since 1995 with an additional 27 billion still allocated for the purchasing of around 3.9 million hectares of land. A further 27.6 6 billion has been paid as financial compensation to individuals that basically didn't want the land and about 5.5 billion has gone to development grants. Now, the land reform department is now conducting a comprehensive land audit to determine how much land the state actually owes because they keep buying land and they don't know what they have because many individuals are saying, "Give us back the land. There's tons of it there already." They just don't know what it is. Don't even know who has it. Now, the audit that the land reform department wants to conduct is going to look at ownership by you waiting for it. Yep.
Race, gender, trusts, because a large amount of land in South Africa is owned by a trust. Also, business entities own a large amount of land. So, they're going to look into that. The region and the nationality to see if well basically there's a lot of foreign investors in South Africa. Now, as of the end of December 2025, around 89.721,000 land claims had been settled. These settlements benefited around 2.4 million people. That's around 468,000 households. But there's still another 5,245 claims outstanding.
But the government still goes on about expropriating land without compensation.
But they've only got like 5,000 land claims left and they've already addressed like a serious amount of land claims already. Now it's important to remember that the population at the end of a partate was only like 30 million people. It's not the population of today. So when you say 2.4 million, you can't judge it by the population number that we have today. You have to go retrospectively and apply it to the population as it was then. So the government has already looked at a serious amount of land claims in proportion to the population numbers that were in place at the time of the end of apartate.
Moving on to another graph that keeps destroying the economy specifically be now the daily investor has argued that be started with historical redress aims but has become a tool for connected enriched individuals. And to that I say my guys have only just like got on to the whole be train. We've known this for some time. As you know be came into effect in April 2004 thanks to Tabu and Becky. Now the article from the Daily Investor says that be has benefited a small collected elite rather than the poor black South Africans. Everybody's been saying this for a while. So what we're actually seeing here is that everybody is jumping onto the same gravy train. We all know this. Now, the IRR's executive director, Gabriel Krauss, who I've interviewed before, but when Raman Kabak was in the news, Gabriel was into Raman's back. What a lovely guy. Anyway, he's quoted as saying that the number of unemployed black South Africans has almost doubled since 2007.
Now, Vitz Professor William Gumed is quoted as saying that the ANC's B strategy largely benefited connected individuals.
GDI says that 47 politically connected individuals scored around 60% of the be mining deals. I've already covered this in articles from last week and the article links be manipulation to corruption, water failures, healthcare failures and weak service delivery. Why is it that people are still talking about this? Well, they're still talking about it and the voices that are going against be ideology is continuing to ramp up. Why? Well, because Sir Ramapora continues to defend be as an opened industry such as money to people previously excluded. Remember that one of the individuals that opened it up to was Sapora.
Now the core dispute in question is factually has it uplifted individuals and critics say that no be has not uplifted the poor that the ANC says it remains necessary for transformation but the only people it's really transformed is the ANC itself. So let's do a quick recap of that before we move on to crown. Moody says things are great even though we're now borrowing in foreign currency. The fuel levy is ending, so your petrol is going to cost you more.
The government still wants to do expropriation without compensation even though they've looks like they've gone through the majority of the land restitution cases and be continues to destroy the economy even though Sir Ronald Pa says that it's vital to transform the ANC.
Right, let's look at crime because as you'll know, one of the key things the government wants to do is strip you of your self-defense firearm. You naughty naughty person trying to defend yourself from attackers. Well, one of the things that SAPS does in relation to your firearms is ballistics testings. Well, would you know it? The SAPS ballistic expert captain, Mr. Lawrence, has been charged over a murder investigation. He faces charges including accessory after the fact to murder and defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of ammunition. So what actually happened? Kamusta SWAT was murdered outside QEK on the 17th of April 2024.
Now police say that SWAT suffered 17 gunshot wounds. Now two suspects were arrested the same day including a Johannesburg detective and Mr. Michael Tao. Now police recovered a suspected getaway car, an AK-47 cuz we all know those are legal in the Republic, don't we? Said no one ever. a CZ pistol and a six hour 9 millimeter pistol. Now the state alleges that the police captain, the ballistic experts police captain produced unreliable and contradictory ballistics reports and failed to do so with further ABIS testing. Now, the ceased firearm was later linked to more than 20 murders and attempted murders, but the police captain said that any mistakes he made were not intentional and blamed workload pressure. So, what exactly is actually going on here? I said what's going on, but let's actually break it down. So, this is a police captain who's in charge of ballistics.
So, when a firearm is used in a crime, they have to do ballistics to see whether it's been linked to any other crimes. The standard protocol. And this police captain said, "Nope, you didn't actually send them for any further testing." He just looked at him and was like, "It's keen. Firearm's keen." When they later investigated it, the firearm wasn't keen. It had been used for all these murders. And they said to him, "Why are you lying?" And he said, "I'm not. Was it intentional? Workload. I got too much work." Now, this is all emerged as part of the police capture commission. And as we can see, criminal infiltration into the justice system is a reality. But somehow you're meant to trust Zaps with your life. Can't even trust SAPS to do a freaking test on a firearm. Now, this should then come as zero surprise that according to the latest news, new firearm license applications rose from 99,000 in 2018 to around 167,000 in 2024.
That's an increase of around 70% in 6 years. Now, competency assessment applications have risen from 154,000 to 193,000.
Experts say that SAP's data is unclear whether it combines different license categories. And News 24's usual criminologist expert, Mr. Galam, why do they always use the same tool over and over again? It's almost like the same [ __ ] over and over again, spouting out the same propaganda. And he says that most new applications traditionally came from people seeking handcuffs for self-defense.
Which means what? We all know that the reason people are trying to get a firearm is because South Africa is dangerous. You know who also knows this?
Well, gunrat activist Gideon Jub who says that the surge is mainly driven because of self-defense concerns.
Yeah, we all know this to be true.
People are looking for firearms because South Africa is not safe. Now, Mark Moulder of Gun Lassic Dossia Deed says that 80 to 90% of their clients are private individuals seeking firearms for protections. The two main drivers being high violent crime and fear of tougher gun laws. This is individuals trying to get those firearms before the gun laws come in. Because this is what's going to happen. Let's say that the 2021 Draw Firearms Control Amendment Act, which proposes removing self-defense as a reason for owning firearm, let's say that that's approved somehow because you know them commie idiots decide to put it in place. People are not handing in their firearms. They will automatically be made illegal. So they'll be breaching the law and they will because people don't want to surrender their gun. Now, Gunfree South Africa's new managing director or director or spokesperson or whatever the freak is. This is a person took over from Adele says that the proposed restrictions may be fueling panic buying. Who you don't say used spastics, but also argues that more household firearms can become a source of stolen guns for criminals. It's always the same with these spastics over and over again. It's like your firearm, your legally obtained firearm. That's that's really what's giving the firearms to criminals. It's not the ballistics experts. It's not SAPs selling all the firearms. It's not the army and the military losing their firearms to criminal gangs because they can't actually protect their own infrastructure. Nope. But you with your bloody 9 millimeter trying to save your family from being killed in your home.
This is who we have to listen to to tell us, "Don't worry, my guy. They've got your back. They will protect your life."
I wouldn't allow these people to protect the turd that my dog laid on the side of a sidewalk because the reality is they'd probably still stand in it because these are low IQ people spouting the same low IQ arguments over and over again.
Anyway, let me know what you think in the comment section below and until next time. Bye.
