[00:00:01]We spend 5 minutes with Jesus.

[00:00:08]Our text is taken from the book of Proverbs chapter 12 verse 16.

[00:00:16]It reads, "Fools quickly show that they are upset, but the wise ignore insults."

[00:00:32]Are you letting things upset you that do not have to upset you?

[00:00:42]Difficult people who are offensive and rude, oh, we find them all around us.

[00:00:54]There are some who will say things about you that are simply not true.

[00:01:00]They will hurl insults, and they'll do this just because they know that they can upset you.

[00:01:12]The fact is that these people do not want to be happy, but don't let them keep you from being happy.

[00:01:24]Yes, they may be disrespectful or angry, but don't let their issues sour your day.

[00:01:33]You can't control what difficult people do, but you can control how you respond.

[00:01:48]You have to make up your mind that you are not going to let them push your buttons, to offend you, to upset you.

[00:02:00]Rather than take the bait of an insult, the most powerful thing you can do is to ignore it.

[00:02:10]Don't keep thinking about it. Don't relive it.

[00:02:14]Don't call your friends and tell them what the others have said.

[00:02:17]Keep your heart pure.

[00:02:20]Save your emotional energy to live the day to the full, to pursue your dreams, to love your family, to be good to your co-workers.

[00:02:31]Tune out the negatives.

[00:02:35]Run your race with purpose.

[00:02:49]Let us pray.

[00:02:54]Father, I thank you.

[00:02:58]I thank you that you are always greater than any difficulty.

[00:03:05]I ask this day for the gift of wisdom.

[00:03:10]Wisdom to ignore anything that is just an insignificant insult or an argumentative distraction that will get me off track.

[00:03:25]I'm going to tune out the offenses and run my race with purpose.

[00:03:53]Jesus, I trust in you.

[00:04:01]We spend a moment in silent prayer.
