Market Ends Largely Higher Following A Volatile Session, Sensex & Nifty Snap The 4-day Losing Streak

[00:00:01]>> [music] >> But, we've come off considerably from the highs of the day. The good news, though, is you pull up the number of stocks advancing in comparison number of stocks declining. And the number of stocks advancing are still outweighing the number of stocks declining. So, that's heartening, actually, to see.

[00:00:14]Let's get the criss-cross lines up for you on the screen. Well, Mayuresh, we have run out of time. So, we'll thank you for joining in on the show and giving us your view on a lot of those names. First up, let's take a check in terms of the Nifty. Why did we end higher in today's trading session?

[00:00:26]Because there was a few Nifty stocks that actually did pretty well. Case in point being an Asian Paints. Berger Paints came out with a good set of numbers. We asked the management of Berger Paints, "What do you think about Asian Paints' numbers?" They said [music] that Asian Paints probably did better than us. And that stock, in fact, ended higher with a gain of close to 5%.

[00:00:41]Adani Enterprises was up close to around 4%.

[00:00:44]Tata Steel was up close to around 3 and 1/2% in trade today. [music] And Hindalco, as well, was up close to around 3 and 1/2% in today's trading session. The Adani Group did well, actually, because there Adani Ports, as well, that was up close to around 3% in today's trading session. On the flip side, Eicher Motors was down close to around 2%. You had Mahindra Mahindra that was down close to around a percent and a half. [music] And tech continues to struggle. So, the tech index was under pressure in trade today. But, there was some big outsized gainers [music] in trade today. The metal index was up and about. Various factors played out. One is silver prices move up.

[00:01:13]That'll be good for Hindustan Zinc, as well as Vedanta. Hindustan Copper was higher because copper prices spiked up.

[00:01:18]And there was a bit of a buzz in terms of the ferrous names, as well, that moved up in trade. Namely, Steel. That was up 9 and 1/2%. Vodafone Idea, ahead of that fundraise, the street seems excited. [music] The stock was up 6 and 1/2% in today's trading session. And NMDC, as well, was up 5 and 1/2%. But, besides that, some of those earning surprises, [music] Dixon was up and about, was up close to around 10% in trade today. Sharda Cropchem reacted initially well to its numbers. And MTAR, that stock was up close to around [music] 8%. They didn't only deliver good numbers, they went ahead and up their guidance, as well. So, that was doing pretty well. Clean Max, another stock that actually listed recently, came in for profit taking. But, uh gathered itself. And that stock was up in trade [music] today. Tata Power was one of the losers in reaction to its numbers, and you had Kalyan Jewelers as well that was down close [music] around 2 and 1/2%. Net net, a session in the green, but not convincing >> [music] >> convincingly so, because the Indian rupee continues to remain weak, and the Nifty Bank ended with a 100 point cut.
