Social media saturation is a myth because market efficiency ensures that when demand exists, people will enter the space, creating room for differentiation through personality, unique knowledge, and specific niches; success comes from adding genuine value, maintaining consistency, and being intentional about what content performs well rather than simply posting volume.

over-saturation on social media is a myth
Added:Pretty much social media's like becoming like hella oversaturated.
>> Um, do I agree with that?
Um, I agree that it's saturated, but what I've learned throughout the years is like if something is saturated, it means that there's demand for it just because like the market is so efficient, meaning like if there's demand for something, people are going to enter the space.
But that also allows for room to differentiate yourself in every single niche. You know what I mean? Like I'm trying to think. Like like there's so many YouTubers who are doing rap news and [ __ ] now. Back when I started, there wasn't that many, but like you can you can figure out your own way in your own little niche, your own little artist that you cover.
You know what I mean?
>> Yeah, but like what would be the deciding factor on like how they succeed? Cuz there's so many people that like you can look at the succeeders, but then you'll see people that do what they're told like post, you know, a volume. I mean, I see people doing like you know, music production videos for like 10 years. And obviously they never like learn, but it seems like they don't really get anywhere significant.
>> You're talking about like like a cooking-up type video.
>> Well, I mean like that would be an example. Obviously there's like a lot of different formats, but like uh really any domain, like you'll see people who pump out contents like it don't really go nowhere.
So, like what's the difference here?
>> I mean, for content, I feel like the differentiator is your personality.
And like the little nuances the nuances of knowledge that you bring. Like like I came in, I was one of the only people talking about Cardi and Uzi, but then like later on we started talking about underground artists. Nobody was talking about that, but where I felt like I was differentiated was like I was practically the only white guy doing this [ __ ] right?
>> Well, I low-key, bro.
Your insights are pretty accurate. So, I think like >> that too. And I I've actually like I managed an artist before I started YouTube, so like I knew a lot of the ins and outs of like how music was before DistroKid was a thing. Like I knew how to submit music. I knew about publishing royalties. I knew about all of like the music business stuff before I started cuz I I wasn't I was somewhat in the music business before I actually even made content. You know what I mean?
>> So, you're saying it's like genuine value in your ability to communicate it?
>> Yeah. I mean, unless you're like a straight-up entertainer, like a streamer, uh I mean, I I don't consume content that's entertainment.
I It has to have I have to be learning something. That's just I don't know why, but that's just how I am.
So, that's the way I think people should do things. Like you got to add You got to communicate things that other people don't know or like confirm whatever they're thinking. Give opinions.
Also, like strong opinions. I think content A lot of it that rises to the top is like the extreme opinions for a reason because >> People want something to believe.
>> Yeah, and also like even if you disagree with what I'm saying, like >> Yeah.
>> you hear me out and you're like, "Oh, well, that doesn't make sense, but like" or at least I just still disagree, but it's still somewhat uh valuable in a way.
>> I think I've talked about it before.
Like I made a couple posts about it, but um I like know a lot of old heads in the music industry, but the problem is like they don't know how [ __ ] works. Like they might have a lot of connections, but they don't know how [ __ ] works. Like they don't know how >> That's everybody in the music industry.
Everybody's just like oh, I know this person, I know this person, I know this person. But like low-key >> are you going to do with them?
>> I never even when I started like I didn't give a [ __ ] who I knew. I didn't know anybody. I just made my own brand and then people came to me.
Like you don't. The connections mean nothing.
>> Bro, and that tripped me up for a while cuz I had a lot bro, I was working with an artist that knew like literally everybody and I was working for free and he would be hanging out above my head. It's like cuz I don't I'm not just like a producer. Like I do mixing mastering everything. So I was you know, working my ass off.
>> cares if you don't actually have your own motion. You know what I mean?
>> Right. Right.
>> And that's something I realized early on because also I just don't even give a [ __ ] who someone is. Like one of the reasons I left the music industry is cuz everybody's just like trying to [ __ ] climb the ladder and I know this person, I know this person, but it's like no, who are you as a person, you know?
>> Right.
It's like bro, these old heads like would tell me, oh man, I got John Legend. They get on FaceTime, right? For like a minute and it'd be like okay, now like what are we going to do about it? Like you just showed me John Legend.
>> Legend is old [ __ ] I can't even. My bad. Yeah. So I'd say like build your own thing cuz I don't know. I had someone DM me I I have a lot of people DM me like similar things, but they'll they'll like ask me like, hey, can you give me some contact contacts in the music industry or like some artists? I'm like >> Ain't going to do nothing for you.
>> I'm like I I mean I could, but like why would they give a [ __ ] who you are?
You know? You got to get your own motion first.
>> You're saying you got to make people give a [ __ ] basically.
>> Yeah, I Networking is so dumb, in my opinion, unless you actually have [ __ ] going on for you, or you can provide some sort of value to that person.
Cuz why else would they care?
>> And the only way to do that is Well, nowadays is >> Nowadays is social media.
>> Right, personal brand.
Yeah.
>> [snorts] >> I mean, it's not even necessarily about blowing up, because like views aren't everything.
You could be like a smallish type creator, producer, or whatever, but like if you If you have uh I don't know. You do something super specific. Like take I'm trying to think like of a fire producer. Like like We going to be okay, okay?
He's not huge. I mean, like he's definitely well-known, but because of like his specific sound, like people are like I could see Drake hitting him up for like that specific sound. You know what I mean?
>> That's how he like differentiates himself. Cuz a lot of people like they'll just post a lot of content, but it's just like why do we care, you know? And that's what I keep seeing is like when I'm like cuz I don't know I just started, by the way. So, because I've been like sort of trapped in that uh industry route.
>> Yeah, the [ __ ] industry.
>> Right. I don't learn that the hard way, man.
I was working for 8 years, bro. And it was like >> Look, I tried to go the industry route, too, cuz at some points, I would like, you know, go out to shows, I'd go visit people in the industry, like we'd talk, and I I'd like come back from the trip going to LA or Atlanta or whatever, and be like, "What did I actually gain here?" And I just want to be home right now.
Like >> like they make it seem like it's a lot more and you really get nothing out of it.
>> Like yeah. Basically. Yeah.
>> Like differentiating yourself and making people give a [ __ ] But I guess you just got to like I guess that would be it then, right?
Cuz like bro, I I see a couple guys like bro they'll say they be producing for like or posting content for like 10 years.
It's like damn. Like I would bro, I would be so pissed if I >> If you're not If you don't get some motion online over like even a year, like you don't get like >> some sort of spark where you're like, "Okay, they like the The people who don't blow up online is because they're not even looking at their analytics or they're not paying attention to what people are liking.
They'll just keep posting video after video after video and like it will they'll get one video that hits 10k views and then they'll go back to like doing some other [ __ ] And it's like dude, they literally told you what they wanted. So just keep making that thing over there.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
>> So I Like seriously, I think it's inevitable to not necessarily blow up on social media, but to to grow on social media if you actually again just post volume, but then pay attention to what is actually working well within this volume.
>> So I guess that would be the two-part combination right there.
Yeah.
>> Yeah. You got to You got to be intentional.
Um Like I I've I talked to somebody who said they were posting like reaction videos for I don't know, like two years straight. They posted like three to five videos a day. They had like hundreds or thousands of videos out.
>> Right.
>> And And like I'm sitting there like, "Wha- what?" I mean, what was your strategy? Are you just posting reactions? Like, what did well?"
And they had no idea. And I'm like, "Well, that's your problem, you're a [ __ ] dumbass."
>> So, you got at least a uh you know, if you're at least a triple-digit IQ, you should be able to >> Yeah, you got >> [laughter] >> I don't even think I don't even think it's really that hard.
Like, I I feel like if if I really wanted to, I could grow another channel to 100,000 subscribers on any topic. It's just like, do I really want to do that right now? But yeah, it it's Growing online is is not hard. It takes consistency and time, but it's really just paying attention and volume. Like, what what is doing well?
Do more of that.
