Basically it is how a natural language interface models that actually now allow individuals like you and I to basically generate full stack web applications without traditional manual coding. Kind of crazy to think about, right?
So, hi. Welcome back to the channel. My name is Nick. I am just here out in the middle of nowhere with a camera to kind of just give you a raw update, no editing, just a casual chat between you and me about the internet computer and the changing environment that we find ourselves in. Now, I do have some notes on my phone here just because there's a one technical detail that I want to cover and I don't want to forget about it. So, I might just get it out of the way right now, right? Because caffeine.ai, it's um actually allows the platform to write the backend code using the Motoco um where is that Motoco to basically guarantee that the system cannot cause any data corruption or losses. That's really important and I wanted to cover that off as well as kind of just telling you that it has got integration with React and TypeScript and basically the built-in persistence models which basically means that it can bypass the standard old SQL databases. So kind of a mouthful, but the phone's now going away because it's just not needed. Let's now have a raw casual chat about what all of this means because like I said, the internet's changing and a lot of people are just not aware of it. So, let's talk about let's talk about the AI elements of what we kind of already know and establish right now, right? because we've probably all used AI chat bots at some point whether that is chat GPT claude or Gemini maybe even co-pilot with uh with Microsoft right they are everywhere sometimes good sometimes bad but they are very different than what we're talking about with ICP now for the last few years maybe months maybe maybe months is better maybe like 12 to 18 months, AI has been getting smarter, right? It's kind of obvious. Shouldn't have to say that out loud to be fair, but it is getting smarter, right? When AI chat bots first came about, you used to ask it basic questions, right? You used to use it kind of like you used to use Google. In fact, that's what the kids do these days, right? I come from the generation of saying, "Ah, you should Google it." Well, now the new saying is, "Have you asked AI?" Right? And so these changes, they're happening, right? And AI has get has been getting smarter, right? So when we talk about kind of like early day AI, it kind of wasn't really good for coding, right? It used to kind of create a few things, uh, but they were pretty buggy. They often failed. They used old libraries. They didn't really have up-to-date data, and they just generally weren't very good.
But times have changed quite rapidly. AI can now write full-on applications. All right? If you can think it, you can create it. That's kind of the the way that this is going, right? And that already exists today. And it's really super critically important when we start thinking about all the different blockchain systems that there are. it kind of doesn't matter anymore as to which network you're actually wanting to build on because AI can build pretty much on most of these programming languages. So you don't really have to worry about it or think about it, right?
If you've got an idea and you think, okay, well the Cardano ecosystem might be fantastic because it's deterministic, it fee structures all right, maybe I build there, right? And but you don't know hasll, right? So you go ahead and you get an AI to basically build your application for you. Job's done. Feet are up, coffee in hand, and you don't really have to worry about it, right?
Same with Ethereum, even more commonly used. But ICP is different, right? ICP changes the game quite a bit because instead of asking developers to go, you know, learn a new script language or to go and um let's say go to an AI that you're paying a subscription for to code the thing for you, then take that code, copy that code, put it in somewhere, deploy it on the chain and and so forth.
ICP is changing the way that this works completely. Caffeine.ai, AI. It runs on ICP and it just basically uses natural language to create the application and deploy the application directly to the internet computer, right? It basically just bypasses multiple steps and it's going to change the kinds of things that we see, right? So yeah, the internet's changing and the internet computer is changing the mechanics behind that. So let's now now we've kind of established what is going on here. Let's now go and break down some of the details of it.
Because if someone has an idea, it used to be I mean thinking way back, it used to be a lot more complicated, right? You used to have to have a development team. You would have to, you know, convey the idea to them, make sure they fully understand it. You'd have mockups, prototypes. You then have weeks on weeks on weeks of trying to test it, debug it, make sure that it's all working properly, all of these things.
AI sped a lot of that up. You didn't need the development team. You could write the code with the AI, but you would still have a lot of the debugging going on. You'd still have a lot of problems. But over the last few months, it's it's dramatically changed again.
And AI can now write full stack websites or even web applications. and then deploy it directly to the chain. So this basically means that we're no longer going to be reliant on, you know, a handful of projects being created anymore, right? Instead, instead of like having, you know, teams doing raises and, you know, big budgets coming up with all these kind of wonderful ideas for web 3 applications.
Now it's being opened up to people like you and I, right? I mean, you might not be a coder. You might not be all that familiar with the different types of coding languages, you know, whether that's Typescript, Haskell, Solidity, JavaScript, you know, whatever it may be, right? And you might not might not be familiar, but you have a you have a fantastic idea, right? You think that this is a million-dollar idea, but just no way of actually executing it. Well, caffeine.ai changes that completely for you. You can go to caffeine.ai and you can create whatever is in your head. You can buy a few ICP tokens, burn them, turn them into cycles, and then your application could be live on the internet computer ready for anyone to use.
and it's fully deployed and tested bug uh you know any bugs kind of ironed out before this thing launches it it's gone really kind of simple I mean it's don't get me wrong it's not simple from like the backend perspective it's rather complicated but from the end user point of view looks like deploying applications in the web 3 space just got easy right now that is going to be good and it's going to bad, right? Because like I said, the good side of this is that you could now have a million applications launch on the internet computer from regular ordinary people with fantastic ideas, right? That's obviously going to be great for token holders because that means more ICP being purchased, burnt, and turned into cycles to keep those applications alive, right? Fantastic, right? that's going to be working for everybody. More adoption, more users, more burning of of ICP tokens. But at the same time, there's bad. Okay? Because if you think about other platforms where when they're relatively small, it's easy to get noticed. The the applications that you build, they stand out, they get used, they get tested, you know, and they have a reason to exist. A lot of thought and money went into them, right? lots of people want to see them succeed. But when you have, as I say, a million applications go live, it changes things.
Now you've got to be seen amongst a million different applications, right?
You're going to have to be thinking about the marketing elements more than ever before, right? Before you can say, "Hey, here are 20 applications that are on the internet computer. Go and test them out." Instead, you can't say, "Here are 2 million applications on the ICP network. go ahead and see what you think, right? Because where do you start, right? It's very difficult to go and discover new things when there's so many. So, there's good and there's bad.
The bad is that we're going to see an awful lot of applications potentially launch on on ICP because of the good.
Making it so easy for good ideas to be launched. But just because a good idea exists doesn't mean that people will arrive, right? It used to be the the saying used to be you build it they will come. Not anymore right? Building became very easy so it's going to be very hard for people to come. Right? So we need to be aware of some of the challenges that this is going to present just as well as the good side of it. There is of course the other side which I am possibly even more concerned about. Just uh see what's going on here. The other side that I'm I'm really more concerned about is what happens when the applications were created not for good. Right? That's sometimes you might have applications that are built and designed in such a way that actually they cause harm rather than good. Right? Caffeine.ai still executes the idea, but maybe the idea didn't come from a good place. Maybe it came from a bad place. Right? Does the AI know about that? Does the AI filter that out? Does the you know does does anyone be or is is there any kind of safeguards in place to prevent uh you know bad actors from participating that I don't know the answer to right that would be sitting pretty deep within the kind of technical details of caffeine.ai.
So what can be good can also be bad and I say this all the time across different technologies right it's like u when people say ah CBDC's are bad well not inherently bad right it depends on who's pulling the strings behind them it's like any technology can be used for good and any technology can be used for bad right they I say guns don't kill people kill people right and it's kind of like saying that ah blockchain robbed people but it didn't Right? People use blockchain technology to rob people, to steal from people. So, we've got to take everything uh we're kind of venturing into this new world. We've got to venture into it with caution. But I think it's got to be optimistic caution.
So, I think that we are heading into a pretty phenomenal era where you and can just have a casual conversation with an artificial intelligence on caffeine.ai AI and create a brand new web 3 application, have it deployed and have people use it. And it didn't didn't we didn't require any, you know, expertise in coding, right? All of the error handling, all of the backend, everything is handled by the AI, right? So that's a fantastic place to be heading into, but we do need to be cautious with it because just because something exists doesn't mean it's necessarily needed, right? You can have an abundance of ideas, right? Doesn't mean that all of them are going to be good. Some of them will be absolutely fantastic and some of them will just be mediocre, right? And that's going to be the challenge trying to filter through what's good and what is not good, right?
what is useful for the real world and what is just noise, right? That's going to be the challenge that we're all going to have to deal with as the world moves closer to this being a reality, not just on ICP, but across the kind of entire artificial intelligence and web 3 space.
So yeah, it's an exciting time to be around, right? The world is changing, right? real world asset tokenization, artificial intelligence, digital currencies, right? Whether that's um stable coins or or actually, you know, the the native assets of of these chains.
Obviously, there's bad with everything.
Um but I think generally we're moving in a pretty interesting direction and it looks pretty positive. But again, I'm happy to be wrong depending on how it all kind of falls down. But um or if it falls down I should say but for now it looks like a very good development in the world of ICP. The world is changing.
