[00:01:13]Somewhere along the way, we started believing it keeps you safe in some way.

[00:01:18]Safe from pain, awkwardness, boredom.

[00:01:23]But it doesn't. It just keeps you distracted.

[00:01:28]And if this feels familiar, if you can't go a few hours without your phone, it's costing you more than you think. Your focus, your relationships, your time, your life.

[00:01:42]We're not just using our phones at that point. They're using us.

[00:01:47]But this isn't just a bad habit. It's changing your brain.

[00:01:52]Every scroll, every notification, every like, it gives you a small hit of dopamine. The same chemical tied to pleasure and reward.

[00:02:05]Real life starts to feel less exciting and harder to focus on.

[00:02:10]Your attention span shrinks. You struggle to sit still, to think deeply, to be present, to connect.

[00:03:05]But stillness feels uncomfortable now, so we avoid it.

[00:03:11]"I will not be mastered by anything."

[00:03:14]Yet many of us are being mastered.

[00:03:19]"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

[00:03:23]And for a lot of us, our time, attention, and energy are being poured into a screen.

[00:03:30]This isn't harmless. It's shaping who you become.

[00:03:35]So, what do you do?

[00:03:37]The truth is simple, but not easy. You don't manage an addiction. You create distance from it.

[00:03:45]Start small, but be serious. Put your phone in another room. Turn off notifications. Set limits, and actually respect them.

[00:03:55]You can replace the habit.

[00:03:57]Go outside, talk to someone, read, pray.

[00:04:02]At first, it will feel uncomfortable and even boring.

[00:04:06]That's not a bad sign.

[00:04:07]That's your brain healing.

[00:04:11]You're not losing something, you're getting your life back.

[00:04:14]Because the hard truth is this, no one is coming to save you from this.

[00:04:22]I want you to remember this moving forward.

[00:04:25]Every time you reach for your phone, you're choosing distraction.

[00:04:30]But every time you put it down, or refuse to give in to the impulse to pick it up, you're choosing your life.

[00:04:42]Not all at once, not overnight, but little by little, you begin to come back to life.

[00:04:50]Your mind gets quieter and clearer.

[00:04:53]You can sit in a moment without needing to escape it.

[00:04:57]Boredom doesn't control you anymore. It becomes space, space to think, to reflect, to create.

[00:05:05]Your attention starts to heal.

[00:05:07]Things that once felt hard, like reading, connecting, focusing, speaking and listening becomes easier again.

[00:05:17]You start noticing the world around you.

[00:05:20]The way people laugh, [music] the way the air feels, the small moments you used to scroll past, [music] and your relationships, they get deeper because you're actually there [music] now, listening, engaged, and present. And people will see and feel the difference. And your relationship with God, it grows stronger because now you can be still.

[00:05:49]Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

[00:05:53]You'll begin to hear him more clearly.

[00:05:56]Not because he was silent before, but because your life was too loud.

[00:06:02]You'll be able to create [music] space in your mind for scripture to renew it.

[00:06:08]You'll start replacing distraction with intention, which is what your life probably lacks if you have this issue.

[00:06:16]You'll start replacing noise with peace.

[00:06:19]And slowly, you become who you were before all of this. Actually, even [music] stronger.

[00:06:25]It won't be perfect. There will be days you slip and moments you fall back into old [music] habits. But at least now, you're aware.

[00:06:35]And this awareness gives you a choice.

[00:06:38]A choice most people ignore. So, keep choosing life.

[00:06:44]Keep putting it down.

[00:06:46]Keep showing up for your real life, because the life you're looking for has never been inside your phone.

[00:06:54]It's been [music] waiting for you on the other side of it.

[00:06:58]It really is that phone.
