This video provides a personal reading review of Kazuo Ishiguro's dystopian science fiction novel 'Never Let Me Go,' which follows a 31-year-old narrator Kathy reflecting on her time at Hailsham, a private boarding school where children are sheltered and taught they are special, with their well-being crucial for society. The reviewer discusses their experience with the book, noting it was difficult to enjoy due to boredom, confusion about the plot, and lack of character engagement, despite the book's adaptation into a 2010 film.

Ep. 7 Never let me go by Kazuo IshiguroAdded:
Welcome to episode number seven of reading my pilot prospects, which is a list of books I want to read in 2026.
And unfortunately, this book missed the mark and I DNF'd it right away.
And the book in question is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.
This is a dystopian science fiction novel where and it follows our now 31-year-old narrator Kathy as she reminisces her time when she was at Hailsham, which is a private boarding school in the English countryside where the children are basically sheltered and they're brought up to believe that they're special and their well-being is crucial for not only themselves, but for the society. And they're never really explained why that is. And our narrator, who is now an older person, just is recalling the time when she was at this boarding school with her friends and all the things that she did and everything. Now, the question still stands. Why I wasn't able to enjoy this book? Well, the thing is that this book is incredibly boring.
It's a slog to get through and maybe that is just me, but I wasn't enjoying this at all. I couldn't care less about the characters and and I was so confused much of the time as to what is happening. I had to go up and search um what the what the story is actually about. And guess what happened?
I got spoiled. I accidentally read the plot of the book and it was interesting by the way, but I still couldn't continue on with the story even though I know that it's really interesting.
So, unfortunately, this book is not for me and um maybe I'll read some other works by Kazuo Ishiguro, but for now, I don't think I'll finish this book. This book was adapted into a film in 2010 and um I might watch it just to understand the book more. I don't know.
If you have read this book, then do let me know. Did you enjoy it or not?
