The mother has publicly criticized the response of a health center after claiming staff refused to treat her son with a bleeding head injury unless a parent was physically present. In a Facebook post made on Tuesday, May the 12th, the woman said her son fell while playing at school and suffered a head injury that left him bleeding. She said the school immediately contacted and requested that a parent pick him up.

[00:00:33]According to the mother, the school had informed her that the bleeding would not stop and requested permission to take the child to a nearby health center located opposite the school. She said she granted consent and sent a copy of her ID along with written authorization.

[00:00:46]However, the mother claimed the health center refused to attend to the child without a parent physically present despite the consent already being provided. Upon arrival at the facility, the mother the mother the mother said she was horrified to discover staff still refused to treat her son immediately despite his visible injury. After reportedly waiting about 10 minutes, the parent decided to take the child to the San Fernando General Hospital where he received stitches, medication, several days off from school to recover. The mother praised both the school staff and the and the San Fernando General Hospital for their quick response saying that she believed a worse could have come out uh and this situation could have been avoided and whatnot. So, it is just terrible terrible terrible terrible.

[00:01:32]Just imagine that they refused not even I mean, you can't wait for nobody. You see the child bleeding profusely and you telling me, "Well, wait till the mother come now. Let's wait now. Wait till somebody come." And the officials from the school there and whatnot, that's craziness. I wonder what the Minister of Health has to say about this.
