In Latvian, the verb 'runāt' means 'to speak' and follows a specific conjugation pattern where the verb stem changes based on the subject (e.g., 'es runāju' for 'I speak', 'tu runā' for 'you speak', 'viņš/viņa runā' for 'he/she speaks', 'mēs runājam' for 'we speak', 'jūs runājat' for 'you formal speak', 'viņi/viņas runā' for 'they speak'). When expressing which language someone speaks, Latvian uses the genitive plural form of the language name (e.g., 'es runāju angļu' for 'I speak English', 'tu runā vācu' for 'you speak German'), though this form works primarily with European languages and may not be appropriate for all languages like Tamil.

Lesson 10 - Latvian vocabulary drills本站添加:
Latin vocabulary drills lesson 10. And today we will be working with another verb and it is run.
I have two more here that you already know.
Both of them work just like.
So how do you say I work or I'm working?
You good? So we took away and then we added you. What about what al if you good job the same pattern right? So we took the T away and then we added you. U let's see how it works with it will be exactly the same. Run means to speak. So in order to say I speak English we say I speak in the English language. This is the way how we say that in Latian. I speak in a language. Yeah, I speak in a language. What language? English.
Anglua.
Uh we can we cannot just say Anglo like English. It would not mean the language.
It just would mean English as something else. English. You would have to add what exactly that English that you are talking about. But if we are saying it means I speak in English.
You speak German.
He speaks Spanish.
She speaks Latian.
I speak Russian.
What language do you speak? And use could be attributed to somebody that you are addressing formally. You as you know somebody is super important or use as a group of people.
They speak to male.
They speak Lithuanian. Remember vi a group of people at least one of them is male and vas a group of people at least two and all of them are female. There is another way how to how to say I speak English, I speak German and so on and it would be maybe you have already heard that form as well.
However, this one does not work with all languages. For example, with Tamil, you cannot say people will not really understand what it is. So that's why since this form works with only language of languages of the world, that's why I'm giving it to you. However, with time, I'm pretty sure you will learn and so on with the languages for which you can use it. Yeah, no problem there.
But especially if you're trying to define more exotic languages, let's put it that way, then the common form would be tamila.
Yeah. So in the Tamil language uh how do we how do we make those angl this are actually this will be the genative plural of the appropriate uh uh description of the nation. So angless is an English man and then we put it into plural and genative and it becomes Anglo. It not doesn't work 100% like for example vu is a little bit more historic. So because one German is but we don't say we say there is a historic reason for that. So in a way yes there is an explanation of why this form is exactly that. On the other hand just remember the good thing is the same will work with literally anything let's say English or German for example if we are saying that I'm drinking English tea.
So this anglo is English something English would work for anything um you are reading a German book. So anything German or English and so on will work with this form.
