Effective world-building in alien romance novels involves showing rather than telling complex political and cultural systems through character interactions, while maintaining the emotional core of the romance narrative. Authors can create immersive alien worlds by integrating cultural differences (such as bathing customs, physical characteristics, and social hierarchies) into the plot without heavy-handed exposition, allowing readers to discover the world through character experiences. The balance between world-building and romantic tension is crucial, as demonstrated by how the protagonist's rebellion against her captor creates both narrative stakes and emotional engagement.

Vanquished by Tana Stone 🛸 Beam Me Up BookclubAdded:
Hello.
>> Hi, everybody. If you're watching the playback, hello.
>> Hello.
Thank you for coming.
>> Hi, Lynn.
>> Hi. Welcome to Beia Book Club. We are aiming to send space signals one page at a time. We're trying to do the alien matchmaking. This time we had an alien romance focused book. So, I'm excited to get into it. We'll talk about like the beginning and and get into ratings and everything, but it is nice to see you, Lyn. Yes. Hello.
Um, yeah, we're going to be talking about Vanquished by Tana Stone.
I will admit I'm only at 35%. I've been dealing with job stuff and >> life >> life got ahead of me. Apologies. Um, but Tiffany finished it.
>> I did. And you know, Lind actually read from Tana Stone before. This was my first time. And I really enjoyed it. So, I can't wait to discuss. And I'm happy that I mean, you're at 30%. So, we can talk about the opening because I I've been impressed.
>> Hey, I'm like, okay, I'm sad >> just about how she, you know, set up the world. But if you don't know, see, finished with 15 minutes to spare. Yeah, it was. It's not that long, so you'll be able to finish it. And I really like it's an arranged marriage, so it's got all of the tropes if that kind of draws anybody in. It's an arranged marriage between a I'll say a warlord and uh a an a human that's living on a colonized planet who ends up being his war bride. And I really liked the world building in this because it's not too heavy-handed. I also thought it was pretty unique because we're starting out from a perspective that's not our heroes. And I thought she did a really good job explaining all of the polit intergalactical intergalactic political intrigue in a really interesting way where she showed it to us and it wasn't boring and it was fun and we feel the stakes and I I enjoyed it.
>> Yeah. No, I I like it so far. Um I love the fact that she absolutely hates him.
I love the the hate to love trope. He kind of his species of alien gives me um Dari vibes from um the horror kings of Dar.
>> Yes.
>> Um very much like the tail at the end with the little hair with like the tuft of hair on the end like that gives me um Dar vibes. So um I was thinking honestly of them though.
>> Yeah. And I like how they you kind of get a little bit about what's been going on. like there's, you know, there's imperial rule going on. And so she's from uh colonized planets that that's on the outskirts. And so they're kind of like they're space raiders very akin to like I don't know like the Moors or like the Vikings. And yeah, and I really like that they've been displaced because of imperialism. And so they are space raiders, but what they are doing is they're trying to help the planets that have been colonized and that are being exploited so that they can fight back.
And in order to ensure that these colonized planets don't betray them, they're taking a war bride because to ensure that if we marry and elevate one of your own in status, like you're they're less likely to betray them when the Imperial soldiers come in to reap them of all of their resources and everything like that. And I really love that. I was trying to I was kind of thinking about what he looked like because when he first meets her in her bread shop, he has to kind of fit in there, right? So I'm like, he's got to be like 7 foot 8 foot tall. Like he's not gargantuan like dragon size, but I'm like he's got to be pretty big cuz she mentions him looking human and then she spots his tail and I'm so I'm like he's got to be able to fit in this bread shop and I just like So they're they're huge.
I did love that scene. I really like that scene.
>> Oh god, >> I did when he like walks in, he's like, "This is her." He like is like, "I don't even have to pay attention to these other women. That girl throw me death glares. That's her."
>> And the way that she stares at him like, "You got to pay for that." He grabs some of the She's like, "You got to pay for that."
Okay. Um Yeah. They're both like startled. And I think also what worked for me in this, I don't know how you felt, Lynn. Hi. Oh my god. Sometimes, you know, you see certain handles and I'm like, "Oh, I missed." Full disclosure, I didn't finish. Got distracted by hockey and fanfiction. Not bad distractions. Don't spoil away.
Okay.
>> No, I'm at 35% at the moment. So, and if y'all want to talk spoilers, that's I have the memory of a goldfish, so you could probably talk about spoilers and I'll forget it by >> Yeah, she >> So, >> I don't. But then we I think we kind of finish each other's memories out which is really funny. I can give the broad strokes and you're like no but it was this. So I like that.
>> But yeah I I thought it opened so well because we after you kind of understand what the mission is through her like we learn her by doing. Like she's up early she's the older sister. Their parents are gone. They're running this bread shop. her sisters kind of confront her, but I liked how it's like we get introduced to her as she's like starting her day and then he enters and everything's disrupted, but she still has her little rebellion meeting before they go to figure out what this like town meeting is about >> or what these aliens want in exchange for the protection because she and her sisters know nothing is for free. So why are the Vanguard, these huge alien warriors just like willing to help us?
You know, what do they want? And little do they know, you know. But I thought that that first part was so good because I like how I I think overall what worked for me is that like there's an instant attraction to each other, but like I love how they not that they he has a duty and she hates him. Like literally hates him for forcing her into this situation and taking her away from her home and her family. And like she's the head of a rebellion. And so I like that they were attracted. It felt like a little like instant lusty, but it wasn't insta lovey. And we're not really working with a lot of real estate here.
This is like less than 300 pages. So I think that she did a really good job of them like fighting their attraction to get to each other, but I could stand behind that. It didn't feel too insta anything.
>> Okay.
>> That was done well.
>> Yeah. Um, I did love the scene when he finally leaves and I think it's her younger sister, like youngest sister that is like, "Man, he's hot." And she's like, >> they're like, "He's hot." She's like, "No, he's not." She's like, "He's hot.
Stop it.
>> He's hot."
>> She's like, "Are they all going to be coming?"
>> Oh, I need to We need to look up, are the other books in that series her sisters? Okay. So, the next book in the series is a friend of hers that she's basically her right-hand woman in the rebell.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Because you get a little chapter um Yeah. book to Sky. Yeah. You get a little chapter introducing their situation and what happens, what transpires with how they go about overtaking the Imperial soldiers and everything like that because I do like that it's kind of like a he came to save her in this arrangement where like she was going to be captured and taken >> on the top of the execution list and so like it wasn't like a random bride at all. But like I I also wanted to ask you when we think about like strong heroins and everything like that. I was really trying to see like on the page like because she's not She kept saying like, "Oh, I'm fighting him every step of the way." And I'm like, "Is she really though?" Like I think she's fighting her feelings for him. She really is. And I I liked her.
>> Yeah. I feel like a lot of like those like kidnapping enemies to lovers romances, whether it be romantisy or alien romance, whatever the case may be, when they have the like I'm fighting him every step of the way, but they're not really. I'm like, I mean, you're you're fighting your yourself, okay?
She's fighting herself. I h but this the stakes did feel really high and she I kept really like scanning for her actions and stuff on the page and like I I I liked her because she's ultimately finding her attraction to him but she quickly realizes that are you at the part where she she aims to like seduce him and >> I basically the chapter that I'm on is he like shuts her in his cabin when they get on board for the first time. That's where I'm at.
>> Yeah. Okay. Okay.
>> But I like how she's going to seduce him. I like that plan.
>> Well, it's like it's it's almost like a it's a play agreed. She's fighting herself, not the hero. It definitely moved fast for the hate that we saw.
Yeah. Yeah, it does. In a short amount of pages, it it moves through that cuz it's like very I'm attracted to her. I wasn't expect I mean I he was expecting to like take her but he wasn't expecting to like need her you know what I mean and she's like oh I don't know what's going on I don't have a lot of experience like he's really hot I love we get the trope of I don't even know what to call this okay what do we call you know in every single abduction arranged marriage captor captive we get this scene right where she's like I'm not going to be attracted to this alien that has taken me and he's like, "I'm coming into my room. I'm going to drobe and I'm going to take this bath because I need to wash the war off of me and you're just going to >> Oh my gosh, I love that scene.
>> It's It's always that, right? Like >> I love that. I can't wait to read that part. I'm actually >> like, it's always we we have that with the Dari. It's like, look, I need to bathe so and you're in my quarters. So, I mean, if you want to act like this is it turning you on, that's fine. I'm clean. I'm like, stop it. It's so funny.
>> I did love that beginning scene where they met and he just smells her bread and it reminds him of his mother.
I'm like, >> "Okay."
>> Yeah. I was like, "Okay, Tannis Stone."
>> Yeah.
>> I wasn't expecting that. And it's just just a quick like glitch.
I know cuz she talks about how like just how muscular he is and he just like, you know, takes the leathers off and he's like, "Look, you can sit there and act like you're not attracted to me. I need to wash this war off." Okay.
It's so good. But yeah, she did a really good job of kind of like interjecting those little snippet snippets without without it feeling like I like to call them reveries. I don't know what technique that is, but it's like it's not a full flashback. It's just a glimpse that kind of grounds in the scene and she kept doing that like and and like really bringing us in and I I like that. So, it's almost like he can't help himself but go into that bread shop. And then afterwards, I love how he's like walking through the town and he's like enjoying the bread, but he has to kind of hide it because he's like, I need to keep this the scorge facade, like his reputation, but he's like just melting over how good the bread is.
>> Oh, that was so good.
>> I'm at the part right now where she like offers him like, I can do anything on the ship. I can lead a rebellion or be a spy or I can be your bread maker on your ship. He's like, "We don't need any of that." Yeah.
>> Like, well, I just I'm not going to just sit here.
>> He's like, "Your bread isn't that good."
>> Lies. I know.
I can help. I can be useful. Mhm.
>> And then that's when she's like, I'm going to have to try to like give a little to get him to do what I need him to do. I also like too, I think what I enjoyed about her is that she was a strong heroine. Like from the time when her name is called and like she's sort of like girding herself >> and like saying her goodbyes. I really like how she describes like once she got on the ship like how she's scared though too. I think in a lot of these like fierce heroins, we don't really like hear about the genuine fear they have.
And I like how she describes how like Jasmine is terrified and she's really trying to like hold herself together like when they're when they're flying off because they're such large people.
Like she has to hold on to him. She's just trying to catch her bearings. Like I I liked all of those little like descriptions of how she is like giving it her all to be strong in this moment when it's really really difficult. And as they're flying off, like you can see them see her like seeing her planet get smaller and smaller. I like that when her name was called, it felt like the Yes, it did. It felt like the >> Oh, it did.
>> Winnie Winnie.
>> Okay.
>> But yeah, the stakes do feel like and pretty quickly. So, I thought that that was was really well done. It was like I'm like oh my god >> Winnie, >> yeah strength for her sisters.
>> Yeah.
>> And how that like I like how they describe how it was diffic it's difficult for her. Um, I I really enjoyed that. And I I liked that there were a couple things that are subverted a little. Like, of course, she doesn't want to be like left alone, but I like how he almost compromises with her logic. Like, actually, it does make sense that she's in the command room because if she's in here, you know, like they kind of they're negotiating throughout cuz I got fearful. We always have a fierce heroin that was like, "You're not going to leave me on the sidelines. I want to be in the action," which isn't always the smartest thing.
Like, we're talking to a warlord here that understands the tactics that they're employing. Like, you know, >> heroin knows that bake shop on that.
>> Yeah. And he's like, "Absolutely not."
So, I But I do like how for story purposes, like he's he's still entertain. It's almost like it's not like he's entertaining it. That's At first I was like, "Okay, he's entertaining her." But I think like her it kind of works like he tries to bridge his logic like his actions with her like from actually it makes more sense that she's here. Um and he's already sort of negotiating with her >> when he shouldn't be which which I love.
I do like how um his whole reasoning for marrying her like in her point of view was to save her life.
>> Yeah.
>> Um so I thought that was really interesting. I like Oh, the one woman you need to save her life is the one woman you need to have.
>> Exactly. And it almost makes me look at the the moment where he like smells the bread if that's where he was going in the first place or because it feels like he just kind of like by happen stance ran across it and to see her beforehand.
>> Yeah.
>> Like oh my god.
>> That's what I thought too.
>> Yeah.
>> Like fate.
>> It It's Yeah, she she did a good job.
And then it has a lot of the fun like different cultural customs things like with the bathing.
>> Okay. I haven't gotten to that point.
>> Yeah. So like they have a red lick. So she goes into like the bathing chambers, if you will, and it's like they've got like a red side and a green side. And what is this going to do? like is this like and I kind of I kind of like that that kind of like breakdown where she has to figure out like and it's like soothing and healing water and like all of that where she's like bathing and all of a sudden she feels so euphoric and so numb but she's got to kind of like gert herself for the next chapter in their marriage to figure out some sort of arrangement within that. But I like that. I like the different when we come across the differences in in customs with these alien cultures and the humans that we're following. I was dictating a text to my friend and my phone was picking up Tiffany speaking. My text made no sense. No.
>> Oops.
>> At least I wasn't talking about his vibrating tail. It vibrates.
>> It does. Oh my god. I Oh my god. I'm excited to finish this. I think I might try to finish it all.
>> It vibrates. Um, I'm not going to lie, there have been like previous book club books, not just this book club, like other book clubs where like I don't finish it in time and then I end up just not even finishing it.
The last one I I think that one was like it was like over 500 pages and it was like I mean I knew we had it coming but I had like magicon preventing and monster erotica. It was like so much and I'm like you know what I just need to show up and be here. I felt so bad.
>> Well no me I'm in dis like the first book I was in Discord so I need to get back in there. Are you okay?
>> Burped on me.
>> Okay.
>> He's the dog that like will come up to you and just burp on you. He has to BURP IN SOMEONE'S FACE.
>> STOP IT. IS DOES HE like to sit on you, too?
>> Is a stinky boy.
Um, anyway, that like I also think I think we're both pretty big mood readers as well and that last book was I guess not something lighter, >> just not something I was in the mood for necessarily, >> you know, and it had an interesting opening as well. was kind of um like dream like you know and uh we had so much fun last month even >> yeah it was I loved having you on too that's why I was like okay I gotta finish and literally I just I finished this today like a couple hours ago so they claim that means love >> the burping >> yeah or the like I have to sit on you even though there's a whole couch I'm like on my chest Okay.
Well, I'm very sad for Tana Stone because I think that she did a really good job of setting everything up without it being too exposition at all.
We were shown. But I do agree with Lynn.
Things move fast. She hits him and quickly realizes like the situation that she's in, the kind of leader that he is just by like watching him. I love the part where she's like first aboard and they're already getting hit like they're already getting attacked and he kind of like straps her in and he's like doing his his thing as a leader and so she gets to actually see him in action and so things like that like I I really enjoyed it. I did and like the whole setup of her place and and why they're kind of coming after her and everything like that. I was gonna ask if are you gonna continue on with the series?
>> Yeah, I want to read Skies because I was interested. Um, let me know, Lynn, because I was I didn't know whose book it was going to be next. I wondered if it was going to be one of her sisters cuz I they could have easily done that done that. But I do like that they're going this kind of sky route because the spaceship like they don't even start they don't even start with uh Rexen, I believe that's his name. They don't really start with him either. They start from like an aerial view of like the council and they're talking about like the broader um tactic that they're going to do to take down >> Yeah, the prologue of this one >> prologue was cool because I was like, "Oh, who is this?" So, you already kind of know of a colony with alien warriors and humans that's peaceful >> and we're following this another warrior that's being called into the council because the effort needs to persist, right? Yeah. And >> so they could have very much made the second book following one of her sisters, but the fact that it's following Sky, I really like that because you're kind of still in the action and there's like a captive type of situation going on.
>> Oo, I love that trope.
>> Yeah, >> I haven't honestly read like a Does it all take place in space?
>> This next one won't. Um, some of it is on her planet and then this one is mostly in space and then we're we're uh raiding another planet or missions.
>> I was I was wondering this Lynn while I was reading the prologue. I was wondering I was like I have a feeling we should probably know who these people are.
>> Yeah, because it's like he's talking about being in love and having a family and I can't I can't imagine going back and being a warlord. I'm like, "What is going on?"
>> Talking about someone mentioned like, "Oh, well, so and so like was had a war bride that was a human, locked her in the room, and then when he came in, she tried to kill him with an axe." And he's like, "Well, they're in love. It's fine." I'M LIKE, "WAS THAT GIRL?" I'm like, "Where's that at? I want to read that."
>> He's the hero from the other series, book one. I read this book. Oh my god.
Give us the tea. I want to read that.
Is it called like possessed or something like that?
>> I don't know.
>> Teal color, the teal cover.
>> Um, but I thought about that. I was like, I'm pretty sure this is probably a spin-off. I did think while I was reading the first couple chapters with like the world building and stuff, I was like, I have a feeling that this could have been fleshed out a little bit more, but I think it's because it's spin-off. Ah, okay, that makes sense. Possessed sounds right. Yeah, because I was like, what do you mean? So, we've got hu I've been geeking out because I've been reading out a lot of sci-fi outside of romance and so I was like, oh, this is great.
Barebone. Let's get in here. I'm like, I get the stakes. We're like, we're riding at dawn against imperialism. Like, we're saving planets. We're on the Outer Banks. Like, I get it. Um, but I thought it was I wanted a little bit more on like the new human race that they're fighting against because there's humans on these like colonial planets, but the humans that have been upgraded through like like they're cyborgs through machinery over years. Like they're like the superior human race because they're like augmented. I wanted a little more on that. I was like, that's >> that's insane >> because how do you fight against that?
>> Yeah, it reminds you there's this there's this uh book by I think it's by Nikki Harris.
It's called like born born of lace or born for lace. And they're kind of like they have this human species that has been genetically engineered and modified to have like cybernetic qualities to them that make them more enhanced. And it kind of reminded me of that confirmed to possess. It does have more teal coloring. Unfortunately, the book This was a book I didn't remember much about. I definitely I'm definitely going to continue on. Yeah, >> because I >> more Tana Stone even just reading the first.
>> Yeah, I want to see what else she's written and what she's working with because I did enjoy this. I was like, "Oh, this is cute." And like once I got into it, cuz I read it I started it yesterday and I was able to like get through it. I So I I enjoyed her writing. I like the dynamic. I like it's there's some tropes, but they don't it doesn't feel tropy when I'm reading it.
Side thought, due to watching playoffs, I know a lot of sci-fi movies inspire romance authors, but I wonder if any author has been inspired by Space Jam.
What? Thank you. Where are alien athlete? That would be so [ __ ] cool.
Excuse me.
>> I have yet to read an alien athlete >> because I literally was thinking about Space Jam when I was thinking about I was trying to equate it to how big is he. That's when I was like thinking about the dimensions of her shop and like how she would because even we marvel at a seven foot athlete that's able to like move up and down a basketball cart to us is like novel. And if they're agile like we're like wow.
And so yeah, I would love I would love a Space Jam. I would love a Space Jam.
>> I love that movie.
>> That was so good.
>> And we should measure GM Space Jam would be great. I feel like that'd be pretty good.
>> I just feel like being like, "Girl, let me just drop this." I maybe I'll DM her.
>> You should. If anything, we could also bring it up to her if we see her again next year.
>> Yeah. Like you need to get on Space Jam.
You need to get on that.
>> That great. That's like such a That would be like an underhyped retelling for sure for her.
>> Heck yeah.
If she needs to bank on that nostalgia, I want it now.
I wouldn't know. Oh, Spage Jam.
And then like we need like from what perspective? Yeah, we need it from our arch enemy team. Like that's too freaking cool. I read it so fast too. I read it so fast too.
I miss that. I miss Space Jam.
>> The um VHS tapes as a kid that I would play over and over and over again.
>> It's so The soundtrack is so good.
Weren't the soundtracks so good then? A goofy movie.
>> Goofy.
>> Like come on. The Space Jams were like the Space Jam.
>> I don't remember. I I watched it a lot as a kid, but I haven't seen it probably since I was like eight.
>> Me either.
>> So I don't remember legitimately probably like most of that movie.
>> We need a movie night. Movie night.
Space Jam.
>> Movie night. We need to watch Space Jam.
Tiffany and I say this all the time, but we live we we wish we lived closer to each other. We'd be in so much trouble.
>> Oh, I don't think we'd get stuff done.
So maybe it's good, you know, cuz I would take over your time.
>> I would take over your time, >> you know? Like, okay, so we're doing this. We need to figure out how because I would love us to do be able to do like watch alongs like especially in Discord like through Discord I've like watched a lot of anime with friends that I don't like live near um and like you like play it through there and so I would love to figure out how to do like a watch along >> I remember we did something during co when 365 days came out.
Oh my god, girl.
>> You like watched it all together. So, some Netflix thing.
>> Yeah, it's like Netflix watch party.
>> Yeah.
>> Something.
>> We've got to figure out how to do that cuz that would be a lot of fun.
>> I can't. But yeah, I'm I'm trying to think of other authors that Tana Stone reminds me of. Anything like if you liked that, you probably like this. I get that. I'm in Canada, but my besties are in Florida. Oh my god. In Indiana, we'd be a Yeah. It's almost like, okay, I feel like the world's like, you're an adult now. I can't have that much fun.
>> No, that's why each other. I'm like, all my bestest friends don't live near me. I swear.
>> It's insane.
>> It's not fair.
>> No, it's not. Well, it just means we need to plan more trips to see each other.
>> I know. And then they need to stop pricing the average person out of travel, but that's a whole another conversation. It should not be that it shouldn't be as this expensive to travel.
It's almost like getting scary.
>> Nope. Low key, next year we go to Monster Con. I'm like debating a driving.
Well, really? I'm like, we'll make a whole week out of it because it's getting to the point where it's a little like Spirit Airlines closing. Like, it's like crazy. Like, there's really >> I agree with this, by the way. I agree with this, by the way.
>> Anna Hatchet. Hacket Hacket. Yeah. But Anna Hackett has also written I think I've only read the ones by her. She was like early in my sci-fi romance journey.
I've only read her ones, she has like alien romances, but I've only read her ones that are sci-fi between two humans.
>> She has sci-fi romances with humans, like falling in love with each other, but they're in space and whatnot.
>> I like that. I need to >> I agree. I agree, Lynn.
>> Oh, heck yeah.
>> Maybe also car Bristol might be >> I think so. I think so. I'm I'm looking for I'm looking to continue on in an Ursa Dax's backlist and find another >> I love the cowboy ones.
>> Oh yeah, we need to finish that. We need to finish the cowboy because I know Carol was reading those and I think she finished. I need We need to finish that.
I'm very interested in probably in doing like maybe a Naga Brides readalong.
That would be so >> I'm so down. That's what we need to do after next month. We just need to have a novel bride like we did with uh Horde King.
>> I really would love to.
>> Let's do that because I've only read the first one >> and I haven't like I've read the first two >> and you got that the special right over here. I've put my little chair here because I have not put all my books away.
If I'm reading it, I can read it. Um, I have to mute what I did. I got the Naga Bride bindups and she I don't think she I think this was the only one that she like brought because she said that she didn't think that people would want the bindups. I bought it. And then I went to I need to finish my vlog. I'm so sorry. Then I went to um another vendor who sprays the edges and so I got the edges sprayed uh and I thought that was really cute and I told her to see what she thinks looks good. But this is the bindup for one through three and then this is the bindup for four through six. I love >> I love that cover.
>> And then I thanks to Lynn. These are the edges cuz she helped pick out what the color should be and I love it. So, yeah, I thought that was cool. I'm like, here I am. I I like this spray. And then I showed her. I was like, look at your edges. She's like, that looks so good.
She's like, why did you do that? I'm like I >> Yeah, I was I can't believe she didn't bring more of these, though. I felt like I buy both of them.
>> Yeah. And you bought the last two.
>> Yeah, cuz she said I didn't bring that much. I was like, okay.
>> And we got to her pretty early. I was like, well, >> yeah, we did. I think she was the second author we saw after Emma.
I think we went to see her after Emma.
Um, if I'm reading a sci-fi romance, I'm going to be honest. I'm strictly there for aliens. Do humans? No. Giant blue creature? No thanks. Two human.
>> That's what I'm saying.
>> Fair. That was like I'm I'm the same way now. Um I think I'll try like a sci-fi human one um every now and then. I think Jennifer Chipman has one that I'd like to try.
>> Oh, I love her. Um, so yeah, >> but for the most part, if it's sci-fi, I want the aliens. Yes. I >> You know, I'm I'm trying to dip into, but I'm I'm reading like sci-fi thrillers. Like, if it's a romance, what are we doing? What are we doing? I want you to go the distance in terms of creativity and what we can do in this space. And I I just think it's so fun. I think I I liked I wanted a little bit more. We got a little bit of like the tech on on board with this with this one, but I want more of it. And we're going to be on a different planet. We're not gonna be in space in the second.
>> No, it's not like the >> No.
>> No. Because they >> they're I will say that it's not a captor captive between the FMC and our hero. Like it's >> taken.
>> They're both cap being held captive >> for reasons. And I love that. And there's still like a a dynamic of the hero.
She's not understanding that he's trying to save her. So there's still that hate >> and woman I'm trying to save you type of I love the good.
>> Yeah.
I think.
>> Oh my god. Yeah. I'm I'm down to read these.
>> Yes.
I'm into cyborg and human. That's close enough to Oh, absolutely.
>> Tiffany Roberts.
>> Absolutely. I think that's why I liked out of all her books, Leon Riley, I liked Programmed by Love because that that's that's a nolla.
>> It's so good. I have it up here.
>> That's one author that wasn't there again this year.
>> I know. But I think is she Canadian?
I can't remember because like I think it was Yeah, that's I I miss because I wanted her to sign my program for love but she wasn't there this year and I loved her. I loved her at the panel last year.
So good. But yeah, that one's a about a cyborg on board a spaceship that's kind of like a service AI and he's kind of I don't want to say she's facing discrimination, but he's like very very helpful to her and like yeah, we got a we got a black heroine and it's really good. I could finish I could never finish a Tiffany Robert Cyborg one. I don't like those kind of epilogues because in my head they live forever. I know.
Don't >> What happened?
>> Don't Don't tell Tiffany hasn't read it yet.
>> I'm not reading that then.
>> No, no, no. It's happy ending like like they end up together, but like you know how like epilogue scenes of them being together, but like when they're old. You know what I mean? Like it's like the crying you get at the end of like A movie where two old people die, but they love each other.
>> I don't want a notebook ending.
>> Oh, okay.
>> It's Ha, but like you don't have to read the epilogue. Okay.
Do we It's like a snapshot of Well, how are they growing old if one of them is a cyborg?
>> I'm not saying nothing.
>> You got to read it.
>> Now, yeah, now my brain's like, "Excuse me."
>> You got to read it.
>> Is one outliving the other? Is this like situation where like Aragon has lived 125 years but he only has like 300 left and she will be alone after he passes for like another century which is why her father said I don't know if you want to be with this man in Lord of the Rings.
That's what that feels like. It's like it's it's bittersweet because you know you know he's going he's he's living for a long time but not forever. If you've read time by Karen Oh yeah. Okay.
>> Love Tai.
>> Yeah. love.
>> Those were so hard cuz I remember reading those and I will spoil and text but not for the group. Okay, >> Lynn's like, I got you.
>> I almost bought that special edition at Monsterica. It was >> I now have it displayed front facing on my bookcase.
>> It's glorious.
>> It is ridiculous. It's >> You know what? It was expensive, but I >> And if they had gotten me on the they would have gotten me on the first day, but I had, you know, I had already spent some money.
>> Well, you were you were going to cuz Lynn and I went in that line because you wanted to go look at a special edition table in the other room.
>> So, I think if you were with me.
>> Yeah. So that was just, you know, source of looking out for my pockets.
Looking out for the meat today. That's like looking at statements like girl, you know, we're trying to save. What are we doing here? Yeah, because I probably would have bought it.
She They do. Tiffany Roberts does do art, right? They really do. Absolutely stunning.
>> Those editions were so good. So it's an ha, but it's like an an orbit after a long time. Okay.
I I know. But I'm I'm with you though.
I'm with you though. I want to see them encapsulated in the I They live on forever in my mind as when they fell in love and when I get a snapshot of them.
Yes. I'm happy that they've grown older.
I don't I we you kind of the next logical step is I'm I'm the same way. I call it the notebook ending.
>> I almost brought up the notebook when I was trying to describe. I was like, "No, I'm not going to bring up."
>> Nah, cuz I'm like, it feels like So, I get it. I get it. And I'm also like, how do we feel collectively about an epilogue because I typically don't mind?
I didn't I didn't buy it nearly as much, but my wallet felt as if, oh my god. I think too, it's like, you know, you you add in with any of these signings, the travel, the stay, like food, all of it.
>> Dude, the food got me. I forgot to budget for food.
>> I know. And we got lucky with food. That ramen was so good.
>> Yeah, it was good.
>> I'm so glad you guys had to I didn't know that was like your first time having a ramen.
>> Yeah. Well, ramen's not in here.
>> A gluten-free ramen at that cuz I found an entire celiac spreadsheet.
>> Oh my god.
>> Up at like four o'clock in the morning.
They need to make that for like every [ __ ] major city.
>> An author An author does you Well, when they write the sequel, sorry, I cannot read. Whoa. Um, write the sequel series about the kids and you find out one of them died young or their child was stolen and never united. Oh god.
>> Oh, come on. Yes, they do you dirty.
Yeah, because I'm like I hear such like strong opinions about like I don't need an epilog. I don't mind an epilogue. I don't mind an epilog. I don't need what I what I did recently side eye and I'm not going to name the book, but there were like three epilogs, girl. And I'm like, I am so done because you only gave me like a couple hundred pages. I don't need three epilogues.
>> No, >> I don't need three epilogs. One is enough.
>> One in each point of view might be good.
>> That's cute. Yeah.
>> And like that's if I've I'm I'm down for that. If I've spent a few books with some characters, like if Lisa Clapus wants to do that, I'm I'm reading that all day. If Lisa Clayas wants to do that.
>> Yes.
>> Sometime, you know what I'm saying? Give me everything. heard like I will go in because there are some authors that write like little short stories like Ruby Dixon does it where she wrote like the honeymoon novellas and all that stuff like there are very few authors where I will go seek out those like 10page 15 page novellas Lisa Clayus and Ruby Dixon I think are like the only two oh I will do Grace Dven >> yeah Grace and then um Kennedy Ryan has her little like I'm like where's all the can you just bind all this up she finally published you know the closeup but I'm like I gotta like go to obscure parts of the internet to get all, you know, website.
>> You and the author went into that relationship agreeing on an HA.
>> Yeah. And I'm like, stop it.
>> I enjoy an epilogue that's more of a slice of life, a little scene from their HA, but not a full epilogue.
>> Like, I want to pop in.
>> Yeah.
>> I want to pop in on their end, not at the end of it. Yes.
>> Get it? So, that's why I'm kind of with you on that.
I don't need to see. They made it to old age. I know. I' I've seen it in here.
There's one there's one um book that I absolutely adored and it had one of those endings where like the epilogue is the hero when he's old as balls and his wife and the girl has died. Like his point of view after she's died when he's like very very old. I'm like, why did you have even more emotionally damaging to me?
>> Why did you have to do that? That one is like a survival I love a survival romance where like the plane crashes and they have to survive in the jungle together, but she's >> somebody else.
So anyway, >> right now I'm it's not monster, but I'm reading Hearing Red by Nicole Meser, and it's sappic, and it's like survival, post-apocalyptic, and it's zombies, and she's blind, or she she's blind.
>> Send me Send me a picture.
>> So, and she's like with a guy in the beginning. You don't know if they're together, but they're traveling together, and it is it's so freaking good. and they got to survive. I might be 99%, but I'd be tempted to DNF at the Yeah, get get it out of here. 99% >> that point. I feel like when you write an epilogue like that, you're just there to literally emotionally damage your charact like your readers. You do not >> What is the point? You're just trying to get a tear out of us. Um, but know Tiffany, send me a picture of that cover, please.
>> Oh, yeah. It's >> I'm currently reading Prize for the King by Leila Fay.
Um, that's her romanty and I don't like why I choose romances, but I love Leila Fay, so I picked it up and the audio book is really good. And basically the beginning of it, she um she is a princess and in this world there's like humans and then there's these monster creatures. I forget the names like their racer species, whatever. I forget what their names are, but um they're kind of like these giant elven type dudes.
>> Oh.
>> And the king of them has been conquering like human nations in order to find a princess to be his wife so he can rightfully rule like human kingdoms.
Anyway, he ends up kidnapping our heroine who's a princess, accidentally killing her father, the king, in front of her eyes, and um then ends up forcing her to marry him.
But in their like customs, the king has a few knights. So he has three knights under him. And when he marries his queen, the knights can also service her.
>> Oh, >> he shares her with the knights. And so the knights have been celibate. He has been celibate until they have been able to find their queen.
>> Shut up. Yeah. So, there's a bathing scene in there, too. Like one of the nights bathes her.
>> My favorite. Those are my favorite.
>> I know. That's why I mentioned it.
>> I like I just bath stepbacks. It started at bath time stepbacks with historical romance and I'm like I I absolutely love this. I got less than five pages into Fire and His Kiss before I remembered book club.
>> Oh, yay.
>> Which Fire and His Kiss? Is that a Ruby book? Is that the Fire Blood Dragon?
Fire Blood Dragon book.
>> I think it is.
>> All those titles are the same to me.
>> Have you read Did I tell you about this?
Cuz I was reading that. I'm almost finished now. Wise and Prayers.
>> No. What's that?
>> It's like sappic nuns.
>> Oh, book two. Awesome. Oh, I just finished the other day. I have not read a book in a sitting in a very long time, but I did it. I read Colossal by Jessica Kaine and it is >> that I have it in here, girl. I've been saving it.
>> I read that in one sitting. They're both virgins, high school seniors. He's a ginormous hockey player.
>> I need I have it in here.
>> Yeah.
>> The Big Boy edition.
>> And I love We love the Big Boy books.
So, yeah, I read that in one sitting. I haven't read a book in one sitting in probably like over six months. I need to do I I >> the last one I read, but it's not it's not a ro romance. It was like it's a horror. So I like which is like a almost like a thriller horror. I don't know how to describe it, but I did I did read that in one sitting. And I need to get back to score by Kennedy Ryan. Um >> I need to read real still.
>> Yeah, you do. You do.
Yeah, I finally Yeah, I finally am like on the last two chapters of that.
>> Oh.
>> Oh, she released one today. See, anytime she has something, I I immediately keep it in my Kindle because the last time when she took everything off, I was like, "So, I have a lot of spots for her just sitting there, so I can still have it." which makes me nervous because I think that's the only thing like the the one thing I feel like I own in the Amazon ecosystem. It are my audiobooks because you can like download those onto a little flash drive hard drive on my little terabyte there and like actually own the audiobooks just in case they do something funny. Um but yeah, I need to check because I want to get her in my my Kindle just to like have it there.
Yeah, I did get during that Audible sale last month. I ended up getting um Hefty the the high school one as a audio book and I'm saving that audiobook for a rainy day when I need a picture.
>> I need them.
I haven't listened to any of the audios.
I >> know cuz all the audios that I think there were three audios that came out and I've read all of them. like I've read all of them and I didn't like the beast one. I'm not gonna lie. I wasn't that big of a fan the beast one. Um but I did like caught for the convict because I didn't end up purchasing that one. But that one was fun >> cuz that one's like sword crossing mmf.
>> I I want her. She should write more historical. I keep saying that.
>> I don't know why she doesn't >> Yeah, the royal ones. The bodyguard.
What? Like she stay in there.
I completely forgot about that. King size is one of my favorite Nobellas of all time.
>> I've been sending unsolicited emails. I told you I emailed um Lisa Kipus. Um, I'm just gonna send an unsolicited I should add GM Ferryy for Space Jam and I'm gonna >> I have like a I have a process like a boilerplate type of like way to like So I'm not trying to be but I might send an intrusive little you didn't ask but here as if you need ideas like as if you freaking asked but like did you just if you just write MORE HISTORICAL BECAUSE THAT THOSE WERE GOOD.
THOSE are so good. I'm like, "Help me."
>> I did send Jessica in a DM like almost a month ago and she never replied to me. So, >> it's okay. I'm sending it into the ether, but just in case you get that or some PA gets it and you and like I'm writing it so that like they get a kick out of it.
>> Yeah.
>> It's mentioned just, you know, just like a little worm. I I'm hoping it's just like a little pickme up if not funny. and maybe an idea because that would be great. I want more historical from her so >> please. It was so good cuz queensiz and kingsiz are those the only two, right?
>> Yeah, those are the only two.
>> Oh, they're so good.
>> I'm wrapping. It's so cute.
>> What?
>> You're wrapping.
>> Thank you. Look at all these.
>> That's what she's gotten done.
I have to like multitask when I talk to people or I can't focus. You know what I mean?
>> No, that makes sense. I >> just sit here if that's how I was in college, too. I would always have my Kindle book up on my computer while the teacher was talking so I could multitask. Um I I can't just sit and listen.
>> Isn't it weird how we're expected to like sit still and be quiet or like sit still for long periods of time? I had a friend of mine who was like neurode divergent and he was like that's odd.
I'm like yeah you're right. I'm ready for the new Neva Al.
Yes, >> that's my girl.
>> What's the dynamic in this next one? Cuz I did not know she was coming out with it.
>> Um cuz this one is >> the mafia series, right? Please >> the last one, book 10. Um it's the last one. I still I do have to finish. I'm in the middle of book nine. Um, but this book was actually supposed to come out in April.
She had to push it for whatever reason.
So, we've all been waiting for it for quite a hot minute. But that's okay.
>> I haven't even finished book nine yet.
So, >> I think I'm on which one's the last one.
>> See, no souls. Oh, so I'm pretty caught up a little bit. The last one you read >> fractured souls six.
So seven eight.
>> Don't let me get hyperfixated because you know I'll be like I'm done.
>> The last two >> or I don't understand what people are saying. Like my brain will wander if my hands aren't doing something.
I like that though because you're it's it's also productive and you're probably I think I wish I was more like that because because you're multitasking you have something like concrete >> to ground whatever's coming in >> on >> where like even in lectures I I'm a very like so I'm audiovisisual so all I I would pride myself on I could sit there in an entire lecture and not take a note but if I paid attention after I would go straight to the library, grab an iced coffee and then distill everything at from like memory >> and then yeah, but like go through and try to distill the lecture with whatever you know materials I had and just like write it out in my own words to try to do that. But you're doing that while it's happening, which I wish I wish I could. If there's a portion that I wasn't paying attention to, like it's it's void. Like I need to hear somebody talking.
>> You have to like I don't know why that's just my brain.
Same thing when like I fall asleep like Lynn knows like I have to if I don't have something playing on the television my brain will just wander a billion directions and stuff like that.
>> I can't do it. I live >> I have my headband headphones. She had her headphones for bed. Like I have to I have to be listening to something too.
>> Yeah. But it's nothing not something too good because that's how I started write that's how I started uh reading cozy mysteries because I thought oh I can listen to this cozy mystery I don't care about it that much and it's going to be cozy I'm going to drift off and I started listening to them and I'm like wait a minute who done it or I would fall in love with sleuth or something and then I'd be like staying up to finish them and it wasn't helping me so that but that's how I started >> I can only fall asleep to shows that are like comfort shows like How I Wet Your Mother. Right now it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That's my bedtime show and it changes all the time. It'll be a Disney movie. It'll be ASMR. It'll be an ASMR I've seen a billion times because I can't do a new ASMR because I want to know what happens in the ASMR video.
>> I fall asleep to like things like sleep stories, boring history while you sleep.
Uh, my boyfriend really likes the YouTube channel Quinn's Ideas and Quinn does these like threehour like Dune breakdown videos, threehour like sci-fi like video and so like I'm like but they're so good.
I'm like falling asleep to like these like space worlds and that's what I like. Yep. Y'all are crazy.
>> I know.
>> The silence. I can't do silence even in my regular life like me working like I need to have something going something work or I can't focus even like >> and I can't Yeah, we and we can't do I can't do like frog sounds. We're not I'm not doing that.
>> No, I can't I can't do thunder. I can maybe do thunder rain because that's very relaxing. But like brown noise or white noise? Hell no. No.
>> Cut it out. Cut it out. And I know that that that's a fake animal. It bothers me. Like I real nature I can do and it's relaxing to me. The audio of it I cannot. I work on the phone and the computer. I listen to music between calls, read fanfiction when talking or watch TV while answering questions. No wonder. Yeah, because when it's silent it's immensely felt for me. I do like I do like meditate and when I'm at I'm not listening to anything and it's like >> because it's constantly going over here.
It is a constant effort to keep the fantasy alive over here and it's very loud. Like I I have something I'm listening to something when I'm sleeping. I'm constantly just overstimulated.
But I feel like that works for me.
>> Like this is Yeah. Like this is calm because I can I think I kind of like tap in like if I'm you know live I'm tapping in and then you know I think I'm I'm more exhausted afterward because I'm trying to be like so attentive.
>> Which is probably why like I can sit and I can talk to you for hours.
That's why like when I go when I talk to my mom on the phone or like Zay or you on the phone like I have to be doing something like I'm car driving. I'm on a walk. I'm doing laundry. Like I can't just sit and talk on a phone like that.
No. My body I may or may not I might need to get diagnosed with ADHD. Who knows?
>> She got all those See, I'm bad because it's like when I told my my doctor I'm happy with my insomnia. I feel like a superhero. I'm getting so much done.
This is great. You know what I mean? I was really I'm really upset because I've been like healing from that and sleeping and I'm like I don't know how people are doing it because I feel like I lost my time when I did a lot of things and I feel betrayed and I'm like do I want to be better and well I don't know because I feel like something was robbed of me.
It's like when it's quiet, I start to hear myself and lose my train of thought and start to think things like, "Why is that my I >> Oh, I remember when I was a kid. I I won't talk forever, but I remember that first time I like thought my own thought and thought I heard myself in my head as a child. I'll never forget it. I was like, "Is that me?"
And I was like in school, I was playing with something. Maybe it was like a Lego or something. And I had a thought and I was like, "What?" It was weird. But yeah. Yeah. I was like, "Was that me?
Did I say did I say that?"
>> That's how I feel too when like you say the same word a lot and you're like, "Is that actually a word?"
>> Yeah. I'm like, "Uh, am I over bowl?"
And I have gotten really good at like dismissing things like, okay, is that my thought or am I just like I can kind of sift through them a little bit better.
But yeah, you know what? And yeah, because I when I was a kid, she wasn't like sharing and I was like >> like, "Hello, hello inner conscious."
>> Yeah. I was like my little inner conscious WAS LIKE, >> "ARE YOU MY CONSCIENCE?"
>> Like why isn't she sharing?
Oh my gosh. But I'm trying to think. I am. Okay. So, our next book I am excited about off memory because on the cover I think she's purple and he's like a space truck driver if I'm not remembering correctly. And the heroin >> about that.
>> So, I'm gonna look Let me look it up. I mean, if Shakespeare can make up words.
Yes.
And his pros have been celebrated centuries. Let me see. Um, but yeah, no, we wanted to find a woman alien one. So, that's next month's. And I am going to try my damnedest to actually finish this book.
And it's not >> I also think it's like 200 pages, >> which is great for me in my track record.
>> Yeah. LJ Vicky, keeping pace.
>> Yay. I have a really busy June coming up, so I think I might just try to knock that one out as early as I can.
I'm very excited. I would love to find Well, I'm already thinking about it right now because the way that because I'm looking at I want more like MM space like MM LGBTQ like alien romances.
>> Yeah.
Oh, I was laughing because when I met C Rochelle, I'm like, yeah, the way that she writes the superheroes, like they are aliens, which is interesting. So, I'm like, I can do that. I can do that kind of like alien pairing where they're like that humanoid, but she writes them as aliens. Like superheroes are basically aliens. And I like that.
>> I do need to read the Lily Maine ones.
>> Yeah. No.
>> Yeah.
>> Series.
>> I need to read those Lily Me on.
>> I love them. So, I'm trying to find another like series like that because a lot of it like it's very romance focused in that because you'll like it. It's survival. It's post-apocalyptic, but it's very romance focused. And so, sometimes when people are like, "Oh, but like we were on the road and we're doing this." And I'm like, it's romance, but I swear my reading is going to be non-existent in June. I'm on vacation for like two weeks and then I'm getting ready to move. Oh my gosh. I'm sending you all of the positivity. That's It's exciting. And it's a lot, but it's exciting. It's exciting.
>> That's That was this month for me. It was like I had two backtoback weekends.
I have a lot of changes. Like my parents are getting older, so it's like moving stuff around, great trips, also trying to work. I mean, I've gotten a lot of reading done, though. Like, >> I've done no like this is my worst reading month yet.
>> I think like, but for me, I don't know.
I try not to be I try not to be in competition at all, even with myself.
But I do feel like if I've only read maybe like 10 books, it's a light month.
Or if I've read like five, it's a light month. Only read >> four.
>> Yeah. Like I'm like, "Oh, we're on a little bit light here." And I'm like, "Why? Why do I do that?"
Like I'm getting all this other stuff done. But like, yeah, same. I think I don't know.
>> I forgot to tell you the audio book that I'm currently listening to that is from a monster. It's a monster romance. It's Opel Reigns book called The Witch Slayer.
It's he's okay. So, it's a fantasy.
She's a witch and one day her cat brings her this lizard that's injured and she nurses the lizard back to health and it's the hero cursing a lizard of a dra a tiny little dragon and then he's able to shift into like his big dragon form and he also can shift into a man. Um, but they have their own point of views and it's also duet narration the audio book because I got it during the Audible sale but he's a dragon shifter.
I'm sold. Shut up.
That's freaking I love over. I feel like she's in on it, but then also like I like her dynamics.
>> Mhm. No, it's great. I think you'd honestly love this. The beginning of it was very like cozy romanty feel. this witch in her cottage and she has this cat that's a nuisance and she in uh she takes care of injured animals, nursing them back to health as well as like pixies and other magical creatures. And then in comes this lizard and you even get to like see get his point of view while she's nursing him back to health.
She even calls him like she thinks it's a girl lizard so she calls her lady lizard and he's like why is this witch calling me a woman? like >> whiny.
That's so cute.
>> It's It's so good so far. It is. It's >> Oh my god. Okay. Wait. I got to >> I still really want a historical alien romance. You know, Ruby has a bunch of modern women abducted from Earth who know about science and space. What about historical romance heroine who believes in Oh, okay. The only thing that is coming to mind that is an Alienex monster. Um, it's by Kiara Forest Their, but it's historical based. And this hero, he's a monster and he's actually comes from a monster realm and he puts on this ring that will transport him to his faded mate. And it's our heroine in like the historical time period.
Um, so that's not that's the closest I can give you. So, let me see what the title is.
I love that because I've only read romances that feel like historical in like the social dynamics.
>> Yes.
>> Never writes the same story. Oh god, they are.
>> Okay. So, the one I was talking about is My Blood is Yours by Kiara Forest Their.
She's like even in her historical gown in the on the cover. So, >> Oh, this has multiple in the series too.
Witch Slayer.
>> I know. I didn't know that before I got it, but I was intrigued by it because one of the posters to like get into the monster signing room had Witch Slayer on it. I was like, I forgot she wrote that.
>> We need to throw those in Discord or go through it. Avery took so many pics of like future books that we could read.
>> Do that.
>> And I I recorded a lot of like whenever you were doing that, I just would, you know, record them telling you like, "Oh, what is this about?" So, we have a lot of Rex. This looks so >> Yeah. I need to um I need to just draw pictures. But I remember I took a picture of that banner because I was like I love her Dusk Walker bride series, but a dragon one, please. So anyway, um >> 4.4 on Goodreads or 4.4 on Amazon.
>> That's good.
>> I'm reading this.
>> Um Oh my gosh, I realized we just hit we hit our mark five minutes ago. Um um anyway, next month we're going to be reading what's the title?
>> Keeping Pace by LJ Vickery. I do believe this is like just over 200 pages like 216 something there other. She the FMC is the alien and he is like a space truck driver taking her through transport. I don't know if she's smuggling or she's being smuggled, but I'm very very intrigued. And this is kind of like a reluctant attraction, too. So, I'm excited. Where are the vlogs? Lynn's asking.
>> We were talking about it before we went live. Um, work has been insane. I have >> We're still coming out with them, though. But we're just >> We're It's gonna happen. I've been in my like >> I didn't drop it >> Okay, I'm not going to lie. I go in waves of sometimes having a YouTube slump like filming, editing, all that jazz. I've been doing it >> for the year.
>> Oh my god. This year it's gonna This year marks year nine.
Next month on the 4th of July, I will be doing this for nine years. So, I sometimes get in a little bit of a funk of not wanting to film and whatever, but I think when I'll edit it. I've already filmed everything I filmed.
>> She's very consistent, though. I I burnt out and I was like, you know what? But it's so crazy like my buying and my reading hasn't changed my tracking and just not talking about it.
>> Yeah. Um, but everything has been filmed. I just haven't edited any of it.
Even like I even filmed like vertical vlogs as well, like for like Insta Instagram even >> edit like that. Um, but I am actually moving at the end of July into my own apartment by myself. So, I think possibly with me living alone, that'll probably help me kickstart filming because I can film whenever I want. You know what I mean? So, >> yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> But they are. They're coming.
>> Yes.
>> I kept I kept going back and forth with like while I was there. I don't even know if I should say this, but I kept being like, you know what? I don't know if I'm going to do a blog cuz I but I filmed so much. And then we would run into people that were like, oh, we loved your blogs from last year. And it was like those were the only two vlogs that were out from last year so we could prepare for this year. And I was like, "Oh my gosh, there's no way like I kind of need to make another video." That I was like, "Okay, I need to make another one." Um, just cuz it it it was so much fun and I want to like commemorate that.
It's like a lot of stuff that I have privated on my channel, like I just go back and watch for the memory. like things that I feel like aren't timely to come out with. Like I still have all my thoughts and I'm kind of like that with Instagram. I was in my stories every single day for the year of 2020, 2021, 2022. And I filmed all of that like in Snapchat. And so I have all of my thoughts like the first time I read From Blood and Ashes, I have my thoughts on that. And the first time I read UG Hunger Like No Other, I have all my thoughts on things. So, it's kind of like that with some of the vlogs or some of the things I film and I don't come out with. But, I will definitely come out with Monster Retica. Even if I don't think it's timely, I'm going to come out with it. I have a ton of stuff that I just make and I don't come out with because I'm like, "Oh, it's not relevant now."
>> Yeah, >> they're gonna come out. It's just I have not found the time.
>> Oh, I will. I got you. It's so cute. And we have so much. We have so much. And so then it'll be great because we'll probably be working on it around the same time and then I can, you know, we can trade everything that we have.
>> Yes.
>> You have this part of whatever it is and it's it'll work because we're working at the same time. But yeah, I'm I'm going to come out with it for sure because I did think of I was like, well, I'm like, you know, no one's checking for this. I haven't really been uploading consistently, you know. I was like, I can kind of chill. But no, I definitely want to finish her if it was That's true. I'm like, I'm coming out with it. I'm coming out with it. I need to do better about that because Avery knows like I'll film a bunch of things um and just not come out with it because I feel like, oh, it's no longer Valentine's Day. So, >> no, >> no longer like my favorite thing to do is like theme nollas. I'm like, oh, we're past that. And we just didn't get it done. So, I just But I have it. I have my thoughts. I'll start publishing that stuff.
>> Yes, >> we did have such a good time. We can at least we need at least need to go over a haul within the Discord. I need to at least do that.
>> I want to show off our our books that we got >> and like the rerecks that we have because we have a recommendations tab in there. So, I can start populating our Discord. That is my promise. I will be in there up until our next time, our next book club because I really want to start being active in there again because that was really fun with Regina.
Um, so like with the Miss Walker series, I had fun with that. So I'm going to be in the Discord with all the little like the monster erotica books that we got, but just my thoughts with this next book club read because it's it's quick. And then, you know, all the instructions are in there so you can like follow along but not spoil everybody. So that'll be fun because keeping pace I think I like this was the one where I was like we got to pick this one and it's on the shorter side. So >> yeah, we're excited. Um thank y'all so much for joining us even though sorry I didn't finish the book. Um but we had fun chatting about it even for just the first half.
>> We always Yeah, it's good. This one is a good one. I'm I'm very happy and I will continue.
>> Yay. No, I'm excit I'm excited to finish it.
um >> the Discord today. Oh, >> I think >> Oh my gosh. Yes.
>> I don't have it listed in the description. Like DM one of us and we'll send it to you. Um >> yeah, I'll put it in the I'll put the Can you link in the comments?
>> I don't know >> anymore.
>> I don't know. I don't know if they like flag it as spam.
>> Yeah, cuz our last book club, it's in my description box of the last one. the last BB book club.
>> Okay, >> I have it there, but I can try to put it in the comments. It's in the description box of our our our last book club um on my channel. And I think I do have like a playlist of like all of ours.
>> Doesn't matter whose channel it's on. Um and I'll add that. But yeah, we need to post that. And I think we should have the disc I think it's in link like the link tree. But yeah, it's in the description box of the last book club on my channel, which should be easy to find because I've not been uploading. It's like the last live on there. And yeah, but we do have a a Discord. I want to start populating it again and be more active. So, I'll be in there and we can basically go over our thoughts as we read the book at our own pace and while keeping it spoilerfree. So, I'm excited.
I'll be in there this month.
>> I'll try to check in as well. I have a very busy June, so we will see.
But anyway, >> yeah, thank y'all so much for joining.
We will see y'all next month.
>> Bye.
>> for popping in.
>> I know. That was so nice. It's good to see Lynn and I was so happy that she
